Oh I loved this too, had a massive crush on Sam.
Always liked it when he was a woman.

powershowerforanhour · 11/08/2021 07:11

One of the most memorable ones for me is the leap home- into his younger self IIRC- and he's talking to his younger sister and he says about the Beatles breaking up, and she says "The Beatles break up???" in tones of horror and he looks at her and she doesn't know what is in store for the family. And he says "But then John Lennon...goes on to write my favourite song " and he picks up his guitar. I don't remember the exchange or even the episode exactly- I only ever saw the it once when it aired- but I remembered him looking at her and thinking of something kind to say when the whole episode he was desperate to change his family's future and time was running out and he was so alone.

Spoiler Alert: That is one of my favourite episodes. His sister cries because she had never heard that song before and she started to believe that that their brother was going to die.

Then I loved the one where he gets to save his brother.

I also loved the Abigail series of episodes.

I also love that he went back for Beth, for Al. Aww man I think I’m going to rewatch them for the third time.

I think they could do with a makeover though. The film quality is pretty dire. I love Sam Beckett; Captain Archer and Dwayne Pride (maybe it’s Scott Bakula I love, but it all started with Sam Beckett).

No love for the evil leaper trilogy?

KillingMeDeftly · 13/08/2021 20:03

OMG! Or should I say, oh boy!

The concluding episode of the evil leader trilogy is one I never saw so will def be binging on this!

The episode where Sam leaps into a young Al is great too. The actor they hired did look a lot like Dean Stockwell, who was quite the looker in his youth.

I also liked the episode where the Devil makes an appearance!

JumpLeadsForTwo · 13/08/2021 21:53

I can't remember some of these - don't remember the evil leaper. On series 2, enjoying it getting going!

Loved QL. Used to stay up and watch it with my mum. Can't remember any of the episodes, but most of them seemed to be in the 50's to me.

If it is remade I hope they do a good job with it and have someone as charasmatic as Scott Baluka in the lead.

On a side note, I was also intrigued by the remaking of Heartbreak High. As you can tell I was a 90's kid!

I used to love Quantum Leap so much but I don't have Sky. 😢

FadedRed · 13/08/2021 22:24

My favourite episode was ‘The Man of La Mancha’ one, we got the DVD of the Peter O’Toole/Sophia Loren film on the strength of it.

bruffin · 13/08/2021 22:31

I loved Quantum Leap , i dont think i ever saw the last episode though.

thirstyformore · 13/08/2021 23:02

Loved Quatum Leap. Think I watched it second time round...maybe early 90s and it used to be on 6/7pm ish on bbc 2? The episode which sticks out for me was the JFK one. Such a good series. I remember watching the last one, but can't remember what happened!!

KillingMeDeftly · 13/08/2021 23:07

I think Scott Bakula was one of my earliest crushes. Sam was just so decent. I saw him in a play about 10 years ago and he still looked pretty good!

It was on Tuesday evenings after/before? Red Dwarf. Remember all us geeks taking over the common room at uni because it had a telly and then watching both. Aah, those were the days...
Piglet208 · 14/08/2021 00:33

I loved QL but I can't remember all of the episodes so I think I will look it up on Sky for a binge. For those who haven't got Sky, you can get the Syfy channel on Now TV....and they do a free 7 day trial. Wink

powershowerforanhour · 14/08/2021 00:39

There were loads I missed and I never saw the last one. Might try to get them on DVD to wallow in nostalgia. I had a massive crush on Sam- I never liked bad boys just the wholesome types!

I fell down the youtube rabbit hole yesterday and started watching old interviews with Dean Stockwell. I had only ever seen him in QL. I didn't know he was a child star. He seems a pretty deep thinker and also very into the environment/ climate change activism before it was cool. I watched an old black and white film called "Compulsion" that he was in - playing a murderer. He was very good in it- socially awkward and really intense, kind of like a Talented Mr Ripley character, not like Al at all. He was very striking looking in his youth and has terrific screen presence- your eyes get drawn to him even when he's in the background of a shot. He was in loads of stuff as a child then a young man so I might look for more.

QueenBee52 · 14/08/2021 00:54

This Series is DEFINITELY one I wish they would Remake..

the potential stories were LIMITLESS ...

C'mon REMAKE it please 🎉

Ireallymustgetup · 14/08/2021 01:02

I have them all on DVD, but haven’t rewatched for ages. I really want Amazon to make it possible to have any word to wake Alexa so I can change her name to Ziggy.

The boy with the green hair has a very young Dean Stockwell in it. His dad was the voice of Prince Charming in Snow White

QueenBee52 · 14/08/2021 01:13

my favourite was Stephen Kings baby sitter... brilliant ☺️

Becca19962014 · 14/08/2021 01:20

I've all the DVDs and last year bought them on blu ray (flash sale on Amazon found by accident). Was surprised how well they'd been transferred and am making my way through them - not exactly a big chore Grin there are ones I love, always watch the leap home parts one and two on thanksgiving (I'm not American but for years would do thanksgiving for a friend and we'd watch it alone with pretty much the only thanksgiving film I could get in region 2 - "an old fashioned thanksgiving" (same author as little women and very good, it's one of her short stories).

Some of the QL ones I find hard to watch -that's down to my personal experiences and, how well they were done. I learnt so much from watching it. I found watching the Christmas one really hard as I googled the actor and found out he had ended his life.

I remember being devastated at the last episode BUT gradually it made sense. When watching Scott Bakula in enterprise there was an interview with him and he said the one thing he's known for is QL and people always, always, bring up the ending! They either hate it or love it (most hating it!).

I started watching part way through season 4; after a neighbor recommended it. It was rerun on BBC2 at 9pm Tuesday's for years.

I wouldn't watch a remake, even though we are past "The Current day in of 1999" I just don't think it'd work.

Becca19962014 · 14/08/2021 01:22

I loved the ep of enterprise where Dean Stockwell was also in it, amazing. I love to see Dean as a baddy!!

It started out as a single episode in season 5 but then there are two follow up episodes later in the season. Sam jumps back into a man with Down's Syndrome who he had leaped into, in S2. But the happy ending he'd left him and his family with has changed.............
Becca19962014 · 14/08/2021 15:08

A few things changed for season 5 - I read an interview that said they knew it likely wouldn't be renewed so did lots if things they never did before. The titles and theme were changed too. Most of it worked, in my opinion, some didn't.
