We all saw it coming didn't we? It was like a bad ' carry on' film. Why does Phil hate Billy so much ?

Why does Phil hate Billy so much ?

He sees him as a loser and an embarrassment. The weak link in the family. And therefore has no respect for him.

But Billy has always been like that* and it's only recent(ish) that Phil despises him.

Phil has never treated Billy well. He has employed him in various roles over the years because it suited him to have someone so keen to please him but he’s never actually cared for him or treated him like a proper Mitchell. It’s weird because he treated Jay so well despite him not being a Mitchell at all.

Talking of Phil and Jay, I can't remember why Jay became persona non grata after his very close relationship with Phil (changing his surname to Mitchell, etc). Can anyone remind me?

Star's mum ( Star was a nickname, but I can't remember her real name ) was Karen !

Jay was stitched up by her and Phil fell out with him over it all and kicked him out ; he did end up on the sex offenders register I think ?
(Then they brought Karen in as Karen Taylor not long after this and forgot about her other role !)
