Twiglett · 07/11/2004 21:44

I didn't mean to

I just fell into it

It was fairly crap but I love the overall campness of musicals and the people going for this were incredibly incredibly camp

spacemonkey · 07/11/2004 21:44

I watched it and thought it was brilliant, but i love musicals

DelGirl · 07/11/2004 21:45

I watched it too and I was so pleased that I did, as I nearly didnt bother. THought it was brilliant, really really good and shall definitely be watching next week. So much undiscovered (until now) talent

DelGirl · 07/11/2004 21:46

helloooo Spacey

spacemonkey · 07/11/2004 21:52

hullooo DG, how are you feeling?

DelGirl · 07/11/2004 22:11

good thanks, must be in my blooming stage, though I dont quite feel that. How are you? Feeling bettter I hope.

JulieF · 07/11/2004 22:47

I meant to watch this and missed it, drat!

Dh's friend won the opera version of this competition. It has changed her life.

prufrock · 10/11/2004 23:11

Yes - and again tonight. Love the black girl (debborah?) and the dance who sang tits and arse tonight.

I love that you've posted this twiglett. For some reason I always think of you as far too intelligent to watch crappy reality shows, but that fact that you do in some way makes it OK for me to do so!

spacemonkey · 10/11/2004 23:25

brilliant programme, and totally a cut above other reality shows i.e. not car crash tv

binker · 11/11/2004 15:07

It's a great programme !! I am so impressed by the talent of ordinary people (so much better than X factor)- and I'm not even that keen on musicals !

Marina · 11/11/2004 15:10

Wonderful telly, especially the One Singular Sensation routine at the end. Really inspiring and uplifting.
Julie - is that the blind singer or the lady who had been working at Tescos? I thought both were so talented and really seized the moment.

mckenzie · 11/11/2004 15:14

I thought it was brilliant and I was singing the 'One singular sensation' song until bed time (and even in my sleep if my DH is to be believed)
I so wish I had a good singing voice.

motherinferior · 11/11/2004 15:20

I luuuuuuurved it.

popsycal · 11/11/2004 15:21

fab programme
but sorry - i didnt tape it....i normally do as well. I tape anything i want to watch after 9pm as i normally fall asleep

but stayed awake for this one

hope you find a copy!

crunchie · 11/11/2004 15:28

Brilliant show, I love it. But I do think dh is far better than any of these only he couldn';t enter as he is a professional actor. It could have been his big break!!

JulieF · 11/11/2004 16:28

Marina - the blind one Denise Leigh

We sort of guessed she may have done well in advance of the programme being shown when she emailed dh to tell him to watch (obviously she wasn't allowed to say)

motherinferior · 11/11/2004 16:37

Oh, she sounded lovely - I wrote up an interview with her for RNIB's mag, and she was so fabulous.

Did you notice how EVERYONE is leching over Warren? 'I'd like to see what his bottom really looks like,' and all.

Marina · 12/11/2004 14:24

I'm the freak who prefers Mr Twinkly Primary Teacher. Warren just looks too young, bless, and he never keeps STILL.
Thanks Julie!

Arabica · 12/11/2004 23:15

I heart Deborah Lee! She did so well with her chest infection.

motherinferior · 18/11/2004 10:17

And again, totally fab.

Also noticed two of the competitors draped over each other in traditional Two Week Course Romance way.

Marina · 18/11/2004 10:25

I didn't spot that - serves me right for also trying to cook chicken tagine AND knit a jumper while watching this - does any Mumsnetter ever sit down and watch a programme properly post-children I wonder? Which ones were they, MI? If anyone has snaffled Mr Goodgame I may go off them big-time.
Thought the right five went through on the night. Really rooting for Donna, not a natural dancer, so a bit sad for her that it's the frenzied Chicago they'll be appearing in. Caroline is bound to get a crack at Velma or Roxie, so is the other younger woman whose name I cannot recall, Mr Twinkles at Billy Flynn, but what about Warren and Donna...

jude2105 · 18/11/2004 10:30

I'm hooked on this too! Not sure how big the part will be for each of them but i'm guessing Donna could well be "Mama" - if they're going for broke then Caroline & Rebecca will be the 2 lead girls ROxie and (can't remember!), and one of the boys Flynn and the other one (can't rememeber's) husband - with the Mr Selophane song. Really looking forward to next week!

motherinferior · 18/11/2004 10:47

Think it was the blond bloke, Marina, rest assured, with that lass whose name I cannot recall either.

I did watch it all alone: slumbering kids (well one wail) and DP out at hippy t'ai chi. In fact I luxuriated (might as well rub this in, why not) with an organic smoked salmon sandwich on thick white organic bread and a chocolate brownie.

prufrock · 18/11/2004 10:53

Bollocks - forgot to set the video had my FIRST night out alone since ds - why oh why did I waste it by going to see Bridget bloody Jones). Did anybody tape it? Please? I'll be your friend for ever.

Marina · 18/11/2004 10:58

Prufrock, I'm sorry, I didn't tape it. How are the children? Glad you got your night out at least, sorry it wasn't a totally worthwhile experience!

motherinferior · 18/11/2004 11:20

I'm sorry, Prufrock, I didn't either.
