Twiglett · 07/11/2004 21:44

I didn't mean to

I just fell into it

It was fairly crap but I love the overall campness of musicals and the people going for this were incredibly incredibly camp

am so glad that Donna is through...

georginars · 18/11/2004 17:49

Prufrock - my DH taped it for me whilst I was out on possibly my last night out ever before baby no.1 arrives - aargh.
So I could send it on to you if you like as I watched it when I got home. Can't check mumsnet til tomorrow and don't lmow if my CAT stuff works - will check now - but let me know and I'll send it on. Not sure if it's repeated though - might be worth checking the C4 website?

unicorn · 18/11/2004 22:43

I absolutely love this programme... best reality prog ever- as it does feel real... and it is not at the expense of anyone iyswim.

Think it appeals to all us apiring wannabe theatrical/drama queenies!!!

Just watched it.. so, at mo we still have tape (til dh tapes over with footie or some such nonsense that is!)
let me know if you still need it prufrock.. cat me.. and I will tell dh to keep his greasy mitts off the video!!!

prufrock · 19/11/2004 09:22

unicorn have catted you - you don't accept them georginars - but you both (and your dh's) are wonderful people

unicorn · 19/11/2004 09:31

no worries.. will try and post it off tomorrow, if u have sent address etc.

georginars · 19/11/2004 16:34

glad you're getting it Prufrock. No idea why my CAT doesn't work - perhaps am too pregnant and stupid to work it out!
DH also picked me up a copy of the Evening Standard on the train (doesn't he treat me well) as there was an article in there about the show. Matthew is going to be Billy Flynn, Rebecca will be Roxie, Caroline will be Velma, Donna will be Mama Morton and Warren will be in the ensemble. it'll be for one night only on Nov 25th with highlights on C4, Dec 1st at 9pm. Enjoy everyone!

unicorn · 23/11/2004 20:07

pf..
finally managed to get it sent today( sorry dd's face has taken precedence!!)

prufrock · 24/11/2004 17:19

Thank you so much Unicorn - got it this am and will watch tonight. Don't even think of apologising.
How is dd now?

motherinfestivemood · 02/12/2004 09:18

Oh my god, how deeply fabulous was the finale? I was gripped. Literally on the edge of my chair especially for Mr Goodbar or whatever his name is.

TinselTamum · 02/12/2004 09:21

Oh me too- he was utterly fantastic, wasn't he? I would never have spotted him as an amateur if I'd seen it blind, as it were. I'm agog to know what will happen to them now. I hope they do some kind of follow-up program. The mother of the Scottish woman had me nearly in tears she was so emotional. Fab fab fab.

popsycal · 02/12/2004 09:22

oh wow - i was bowled over by this last night
totally fantastic

Wifeof · 02/12/2004 09:25

Weren't they just brilliant, especially Rebecca. I hope at least one of them gets offered a job.

motherinfestivemood · 02/12/2004 09:26

I couldn't get over the way MG just zoomed into being so very cool and gorgeous, after it had seemed so unlikely.

popsycal · 02/12/2004 09:37

i couldnt believe how good rebecca was!

spacedonkey · 02/12/2004 12:14

Wasn't it fantastic!

I forced dp to watch it, thereby missing the bruce lee documentary on the other side.

They were all brilliant. I thought it was a shame Warren didn't have a bigger role though.

In fact I was blinking back tears at the end, they were all so good. I hope they all go on to be much deserved successes.

yuleicorn · 02/12/2004 18:00

was fab wasn't it.. I was getting teary for them all too!!
Think the American choreographer really liked Warren... bet he will get into the ensemble.

Mr Goodfella (??) did really well too - he just turned on the charisma for the audience.

Great entertainment.

MariNativityPlay · 02/12/2004 18:05

I was actually snuffling at the end, I was so happy for them all, especially Mr Goodgame, because I think he found it hardest to get to grips with being onstage in the end. And he is v. fit of course.
Do feel that the choice of Chicago mitigated against Warren, there is no decent second lead in that and he was way too young for Mr Cellophane. Mind you, I am sure Gareth has his number....
Brilliant telly, am going to really miss it.

Roisin · 02/12/2004 18:10

I really enjoyed this - it was all so positive, left me with a nice warm happy cosy feeling
in contrast to many current reality and quiz TV shows that just seem focussed around destroying people's confidence, and tearing them down.

NoMoomAtTheInn · 02/12/2004 18:18

I loved this and even had a tear in my eye last night! Agree that Matthew was a star - true professional to be able to turn it all on when it really counts. At last a decent reality tv show!!

FrenchNicholasGirl · 02/12/2004 18:20

fabulous TV!! I recorded last night's and am going to enjoy it tonight with a glass of wine while dh away in Brussels. What amazing people they all are, I wish I had that kind of talent and commitment..... I wonder whether dd (5 and a half) would enjoy watching it (she loves drama and musicals)?

TheHollyAndTheTwiglett · 02/12/2004 18:29

Well I watched the first one and the last one .. and missed all the ones in between

don't suppose anyone has the whole series do they??

I lurrrved the finale .. it was fabulous ..

georginars · 02/12/2004 19:20

So glad it wasn't just me that got tearful - thought it might just be because it was my due date yesterday and no baby arrived - but they were all brilliant and it made me really emotional. Especially impressed by MG turning it on for the performance. And I love Donna's voice. It was really uplifting.
sorry, don't have them on tape

motherinfestivemood · 02/12/2004 19:30

I seriously thought Matthew would be dropped from the finale. Instead of which he turned on - so to speak - a distinct phwoarr factor even for those of us who usually have much too much restraint, obviously, to lech over figures of the Silver Screen

WhizzzYouAMerryXmas · 02/12/2004 19:57

Doesn't it make you just want to sing !
Thought they were brilliant. I reackon they must have chosen the people right from the start to play those specific roles as they were spot on.

JoolsTide · 02/12/2004 20:12

yes I did - wasn't it FAB!!
