AND HUGO IS STILL BLOODY HERE Angry

Agree that it’s all got very stale now and even Casa Amor which traditionally used to cause a bit of a stir is likely to be a bit damp as the only 2 strong couples in there won’t do the dirty on each other (either because they want to win or because they do have feelings for each other) Toby wouldn’t dare do another girl over, nobody would care if Abi got with anyone else as nobody is interested in her particularly, Hugo and Chloe aren’t a couple so no drama if either of them has a flirtation with anyone, basically a bit pointless.
I’ve said it a million times but the older series’s were so much better, where the conversations were less stage managed and they acted more naturally as in if they smoked, they showed it rather than refusing to show anyone smoking, refusing to show anyone do more than have a smooch whether it’s happening or not, I also really dislike how they blatantly get told to overuse certain phrases such as “graft” etc, they are from all over the country so I refuse to believe they all use the exact same slang.

Bluntness100 · 26/07/2021 18:38

They wouldn't get the sponsorship deals. And despite what this thread looks like the most people who watch are younger I doubt it would get the viewers you think

They would get different sponsorship deals. And yes the demographic watching is currently younger, that’s what I mean by extending that demographic. Getting different viewers, I think that’s hugely doable, it’s getting stale, they need to do something to shake it up.

And I think the right older demographic of contestant could do that, it doesn’t need to stay the same with a bunch of twenty year olds, adverts for that demographic or targeting that age range.

Make it a bit older, give them some booze, let them act like adults, and they widen the demographic, as older viewers tune in.

hahahayoumustbejoking · 26/07/2021 18:49

I dreamt last night I was walking down the big hill to my gran's house (going back 40+ years here) and Hugo appeared on a skate board next to me and said hi.

WTF does that mean? Confused

MummyJ12 · 26/07/2021 18:50

Also, if they were a little older, they’d have more life experience and confidence so could arguably be more interesting to watch. They would also be more likely to want to find “love” rather than a tan and a holiday.
People in their 30s can still be absolutely gorgeous! As can people in their 40s. 💗

twiggytwoo · 26/07/2021 18:57

I agree - I liked the older contestants. And by older I mean upwards of 26!

TellingBone · 26/07/2021 19:10

I can see LI heading the way of Big Brother UK tbh. Islanders, like housemates, have got to know how the system works and what to do to maximise their time in the villa/earnings post villa. And as in BB, while the LI producers have always engineered situations, it has now become almost a piss-take, with people clearly being told what to say and do; plus vote choices/methods and recoupling procedures being switched about to suit their book.

unique1986 · 26/07/2021 19:16

Lets be honest LI was never as good as peak big brother back in the day.
It was ok and quite addictive. But the problem is you see so little content of what goes on in there and natural conversations.
Plus the rang of cast is so bland as far as personalities.

Love Island sponsored by Tena Lady and Viagra

Love Island sponsored by Tena Lady and Viagra
Yeah of course, as that's all that anyone over 30 buys!
Bluntness100 · 26/07/2021 19:24

Yeah, that’s why I think, older, more confidence and experience, pick some right characters, not ones in it for the insta following or the modelling deals,, they could have a real ratings winner on their hands.

Thirties, forties, maybe some early fifties at a push, a real mix of social types, from the bloke who works down Tesco to the woman who runs her own successful company, make it a real social experiment. Still attractive, (as that’s what folks want to see, let’s be honest) but naturally and normally so, put them in there together, throw them alcohol, don’t control it, and see how they roll.

Big brother was always getting higher ratings when it was the thirty plus age group misbehaving.

unique1986 · 26/07/2021 19:25

They have it too easy in there. Hense no proper arguments or bitching or proper tension.

PumpkinKlNG · 26/07/2021 19:49

I wouldn’t mind seeing older people as in early 30, they use to put a couple of people in their 30s on but seems to have stopped. I don’t think much older would work and they would lose their target audience

ChatterMonkey · 26/07/2021 19:51

I think with an age restriction of 25+ , it would still appeal to the younger people, but they might have a bit more to them than some of the young immature contestants we are seeing these days.

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 26/07/2021 20:00

Obviously what is "beautiful" and "stunning" is subjective and a matter of opinion. No need for the huge tangent...

ILoveYou3000 · 26/07/2021 20:02

There are so many ways it could be improved. No coupling you for the first week, newbies in for a minimum of 3 days before they're booted and every newbie coming in gets to speed date or the public choose them 3 dates, newbies always get first pick at recouplings, and those not chosen have to leave.

No bed sharing until you're an official couple, split the villa into a boys room, girls room, couples room.

Casa Amor could be different, make the couples choose before they even go in, either split and Casa Amor and they can't recouple again during their time in there or go home if they've found 'love'. No one will coast then with someone they don't really like.

There's so much they could do to spice it up and make it fresher instead of same tired old challenges and couplings every other day.

Also ban 'where's your head at?' and 'what's your type?' Allow real conversations and bring back smoking area and a reasonable amount of booze.

QueenBee52 · 26/07/2021 20:04

Lord YES!!

so flippin boring..

and asking who you have your eye on.. 10 seconds after arrival 😳

unique1986 · 26/07/2021 20:07

Ban can I have a chat and will you be my girlfriend.
And ban the heavy makeup every evening.
Ban the staged conversations.
Oh yeh just ban everything lol

unique1986 · 26/07/2021 20:08

Just a show of singles and they only decide who they want to couple up with right at the end of the show.
Basically everyone can get with anyone or be single or whatver.

Your application for Producer of the next series has been accepted.

On similar note, I notice at the end credits there is a 'Director of Unscripted' or such like. Therefore there must be someone in charge of the scripted stuff like we didn't know this and they should be dumped from the Island asap!

@ILoveYou3000 please attach CV and forward to LI immediately!

spookycookies · 26/07/2021 20:16

I think the main problem is that they got rid of smoking and booze. The smoking corner was good because lots of good convos happened organically when people were chilling around smoking or people cooling off after an argument with a fag. And obviously now they are limited to 2drinks a night we never see their inhibitions lowered that much.

Bluntness100 · 26/07/2021 20:17

I like the recouplings they often give some drama, and you need to get a way of getting them out.

But I’d also let them sleep in whatever bed they wanted. When ever they wanted, It’s all a bit silly having rules on who they sleep with.

They need to stop putting in 21/22 year olds, at least min age 25, preferbly thirty plus, and stop making them all the insta stars/wanna be models.. let them eat and drink what they wish. And let them have some fun, get up when they wish, go to bed when they wish, and make it more natural.

It’s becoming too contrived really.

unique1986 · 26/07/2021 20:23

I think they used to do a live style eviction show on Friday nights.
They stopped it pretty quickly.
I think live shows create more buzz. Random midweek vote off with only 30 mins to vote it ridiculous.
I would be stunned if they producers change the show for the better. They arent bothered just as long as it keeps rating well.

Dancingonmoonlight · 26/07/2021 20:24

I think Lucinda is beautiful, just in a very unsexy way- like a China doll. I bet the eyes are more intense in real life as well!

This. Her blue eyes alone were magnificent , the rosebud mouth, the face shape. She is a very very beautiful girl, undoubtedly the most beautiful girl on any LI show I’ve watched. But not a sexy one.

orangepeelsz · 26/07/2021 20:25

Just catching up on posts, I totally agree a show with 30 somethings would be great, I'm 40 and I watch it Grin
