New drama starts tonight. Know there’s a few of us that love an all weekl drama

Anna from England and husband Jake from Australia move back to oz to to make a fresh start on their marriage

They hire Becky to be their nanny to their 2 kids

Not sure what it’s about but we love a drama and murder and thriller so hopefully will be good

It got better throughout the week and the ending was strong. I'm pleased she got away with it. Becky was v unlucky there was no evidence to exonerate her - no friends or family who knew about her situation. A lot of people knew about Anna's instability and could have thrown suspicion on her. She was the one to benefit so you'd think she'd be investigated more thoroughly.

I thought Becky seemed too innocent and naive - but actually she followed a married man to Australia and agreed to a nasty plan.

@Dogatetheleftovers

I’m watching it on plus one but I’m puzzled why Anna said who would handcuff him and put him the pool! When Becky left him, he was alive still.
Anna handcuffed him and tipped him in the pool

Police told her /showed pics of hands handcuffed

She set the nanny up

Was perfect imo

Double revenge

Was Becky actually convicted of murder? 5 years doesn't seem like a murder sentence Hmm

butterpuffed · 16/07/2021 08:22

Yes she was convicted, Anna went to see her in prison. I didn't hear how long her sentence was.

Clawdy · 16/07/2021 08:45

It was five years. Maybe manslaughter.

Gemma2019 · 16/07/2021 09:05

Really enjoyed that! Great from start to finish.

I was surprised when Becky said she had only known Jake for 6 or 7 months - this included having an affair in the UK, deciding they wanted a life together, plotting to gaslight Anna, Anna having her crash, planning and moving to Australia and setting up that lovely home and all the drama since.

I would kill for those time management skills.

inigomontoyahwillcox · 16/07/2021 09:15

She was convicted of manslaughter - I guess because of her being under the influence, and the suggestion that it was sex gone wrong (the handcuffs).

What I didn't get was that Anna and Becky were talking so loudly when Anna visited her in prison ... and there was a guard literally 2 meters away from them! Surely if a prison guard overhears someone admitting to setting a prisoner up they have a duty to report it?!

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/07/2021 10:08

Anna didn’t actually say she set them up

But was implied and we saw her creep through gate

But as far everyone knew. She was at the parade

Sure ray the taxi man mussed have sussed out what she did but said nothing

I felt sorry for Becky too. She was manipulated and seemed very young. I really enjoyed this series

ChloeAndRadcliffe · 16/07/2021 10:36

I felt a bit sorry for Becky at first, but as Anna said, she gave her several opportunities to get out of it. She stayed with Jake even though she believed that he was abusing Anna - that was the point at which my sympathy withered somewhat.

the80sweregreat · 16/07/2021 10:58

I guess that she ( Anna ) did give her a chance to leave him , but Becky had nowhere to go !
It was just sad all round really.
It was good though and better than some other channel five offerings!

BaconAndAvocado · 16/07/2021 12:17

A good series but felt disappointed with the ending.

Well she could have got a job with another family, stayed with friends or family for a bit, or got a temp job quite quickly somewhere.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/07/2021 17:19

Nowhere to go

Parents friends etc on Uk .?

the80sweregreat · 16/07/2021 17:54

She could have got another job I suppose. Moved on.
I think she was just a bit lost and sad and thought he would sort everything out.
( not condoning the affair by the way , that was wrong completely!)
Still, it was good.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/07/2021 07:55

A young woman taken in awe by a rich older dominate man

Gemma2019 · 17/07/2021 12:14

@Blondeshavemorefun did you ever get propositioned by any of the dads? Grin

We never had a nanny as nursery suited us better, but I would hate to have someone as young and attractive as that wandering around my house all the time while I'm sitting on my fat backside eating Lindors and watching channel 5 dramas and Towie.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/07/2021 12:27

No tho there was one dad all us nannies fancied. He was gorgeous !!!!

This was 30yrs ago. He’s prob an old pensioner now 😂

Anna: 'you used to tell me I was so beautiful I took your breath away'.

Umm, really? Grin

ChloeAndRadcliffe · 18/07/2021 10:58

🤨 why not, ohthatbloodycat?

Clawdy · 18/07/2021 12:19

Because Anna may have been attractive as a younger woman, but can't imagine she was a breathtaking beauty.

ohthatbloodycat · 18/07/2021 13:08

Well, exactly.

ChloeAndRadcliffe · 18/07/2021 15:11

It seems a bit mean-spirited to say so, though. If we can't be beautiful in the eyes of our life partner, even if we're not conventional beauties, it's a depressing sort of outlook.

ohthatbloodycat · 19/07/2021 00:22

Fair enough. I'm a horrible realist! Grin
My first thought on seeing them together was that they were mismatched physically (sorry, I can't help but notice these things, and it's just my opinion!). So the breathtakingly beautiful compliment just didn't ring true for me.
I agree that in real life, however, beauty is often in the eye of the beholder.

ChloeAndRadcliffe · 19/07/2021 10:40

I get that - I would be extremely sceptical if someone said that about me, but I'd still take it! I've often been in the situation where a friend has been going on about how gorgeous and sexy and generally amazing her new boyfriend is, then I meet him and he's just... a bloke. Perfectly nice and all, but not the breathtaking adonis I was expecting. I find it both endearing and reassuring - there's hope for us all yet 😁 Anyway, we've strayed a long way from the subject now, I really enjoyed the show and thought it made a nice change to see a consecutive night drama actually keep up the standard throughout. Usually they become way too daft by the last episode.
