Talking of relationships that make you feel uneasy (or not) - Stephanie and Sportacus

I've been reading old thread about Lazytown because my dd's are obsessed atm. In some posts there were suggestions that there was something vaguely wrong about the Stephanie/Sportacus set-up. What do you think? Personally it would never have occurred to me - I think Sportacus is the heroic figure who will appeal to boys, Stephanie is there as a role model for girls. End of story - or not?

I think that is all it is as well.

Noticed though they have been careful as she gets older - leggings under tiny dress and sportacus doesn't pick her up anymore or at least not in the same way.

I don't think there is any hint of any inappropriate relationship there.

i only noticed yesterday that in a song where stephanie sang about waking up, and got out of bed, she had leggings, pink legwarmers and socks with her nightie. i thought 'how cool' the directing behind the camera were to think of doing this. I think that the whole arrangement has been done very sensitively and in p-c language, appropriately!

but btw i can't believe we're debating this on a saturday night ...this is what having kids has done to us

How old do we think Stephanie is supposed to be and how old is she really?

She's meant to be about 8 and the actress is 16.

I have noticed how Spotacus seems slightly more concerned when Stephanie is in trouble as apposed to one of the puppets

He is so not gay! On Lazytown yesterday Sportacus and Stephanie went camping together, and her friends went off somewhere else, and I did think...hmm.

My dd loves lazytown. I think it is pretty good. I have no idea if there is anything unsavoury about it, that is all a worrying blur to me and I so wish that all little girls were totally safe to flirt innocently (as they do).

it is definitely unintentional, just a product of the fact that Stephanie is now 16.

Stephanie has hero-worship crush thing going on. Nothing inaapropriate though - it is that typical Safe Crush that little girls have. (I fancied Simon Groom from Blue Peter when I was 8 ffs!Not even Peter Duncan, at least he had a bit of sauce about him)
