I didn't expect it to be straight sets. Good job, Ash. Wish Angie could have taken a set.

I have been score watching on the schol run. I hoped Ange could get a set, but I am pleased for Ash. Kerber is lovely though.
I want Karolina to win next- Sabakenka is just too noisy, and after a while it gets on my nerves.

But Pliskova can be a bit hit and miss.

Wimbledon is flying by too quickly.

Noooo was hoping the match would be 3 sets so that I could get home and watch most of the second match

I don't think interviews add much and I liked when the players walked off together.

I see Krystina Pliskova has been beaten in Hamburg today. Karolina talks so fast!

They're asking about the Maori tattoos but she just said it's a family thing! ?

I preferred it when they walked off together- I'm not keen on the interviews. I don't see the point of them.

I can't believe it's all nearly over. .

I'm super clever so I worked out I can have my laptop playing the tennis while I'm busy (leave me alone). Volume much lower for this match.

I've just seen that Rafa has taken a wild card to play in Washington (which takes place the 31st July -8th August- so during the Olympics?) . I suppose it makes a lot of sense, to prepare for the North Amercian hard court season. He probably wants to defend his Canadian title- he didn't play Cincy in 2019, though.

Looks like the Olympics will be cancelled. Tokyo has declared a state of emergency as Covid cases are rising.

Although I've had a look and it seems it's going ahead with no spectators.

The screeching is so annoying. Come on Karolina!

I still don't see how they can do it, really, Jane. But if they do I hope they still have some sort of Opening Ceremony.

I saw the no spectators thing, and then did wonder if they would bother at all. At this late stage, the cost of cancelling would be huge, I imagine- but I have been a bit baffled that something on the scale of the Olympics was going ahead anyway.
The opening ceremony would be strange without spectators - and I can't imagine the usual procession of all the athletes, mingling.

It's a huge shame for all the athletes involved.
