Family comedy series - what next?

For over a year me, DH and DS who’s nearly 13 have been wading through complete series of Friends, Big Bang Theory, How I met your Mother (not so suitable), Brooklyn 99 and we’ve got a few episodes of Modern Family left. I love this time with DS every night, it’s only 45 minutes or so but I don’t want to lose it. Any suggestions for what next please? We have Sky, Netflix, Disney+ and a cupboard full of DVDs.

My children loved watching Outnumbered.

Friday Night Dinner?

cricketmum84 · 04/07/2021 09:11

Definitely Friday night dinner. My 12 year old loves it and has made me sit through every series probably 3 times now!! I'm not complaining - I love it too 😂

Schitts creek? Takes a few episodes to warm up.

GiantToadstool · 04/07/2021 09:13

Our family loved ghosts. It was just so funny. But not a lot of them.

We're on modern family too. Similar thing for us. Little bit of something funny in the evening 😊

Superstore on Netflix

GiantToadstool · 04/07/2021 09:14

My 12 year old likes Friiday Might Dinner but I don't really . Same with brooklyn 99 - I can watch it but don't enjoy it in the same way.

Malin52 · 04/07/2021 09:14

Sorry. I'll start again.
Fawlty towers (iplayer)
Blackadder (iplayer)
Arrested development (Netflix)
The office (uk) (iplayer/Netflix)
Monty pythons flying circus

My Family?

FKATondelayo · 04/07/2021 09:20

My kids are sitcom addicts and love Brooklyn 99 and Modern Family and most of the ones listed here. Plus:

The American Office
Community
This Country
Motherland
The IT Crowd
Count Arthur Strong
The Goldbergs
Derry Girls
Parks & Recreation
The Golden Girls (not kidding)

iamtopazmortmain · 04/07/2021 09:26

Not exactly comedy but Horrible Histories are quite funny.
Ghosts by the same team.
Blackadder.
The Goldbergs.
Malcom in the Middle.
The Middle.
Absolutely

I do this with DD (16). Her favourite is Parks and Recreation (watched multiple times now). We also all LOOOOVE Community (my username is related!)

We also like The US Office, The Mindy Project.

LeonardLikesThisPost · 04/07/2021 09:28

Oh and Seinfeld! DS (12) loved that (so did I, of course, rewatching right now).

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/07/2021 09:28

Of course Horrible Histories are comedy, they're hilarious ! I used to love watching them with ds. Ghosts is brilliant tooSmile

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 04/07/2021 09:30

Another vote here for Malcolm in the Middle and The Goldbergs - both on All4 I think.

CassandraTrotter · 04/07/2021 09:31

Me aNd my son loved shitts Creek and superstore.

BikeRunSki · 04/07/2021 09:31

@ElderMillennial

Superstore on Netflix
Shock maybe wait to skip the “print room” episode and the next few to make it more pre-teen friendly.
CassandraTrotter · 04/07/2021 09:32

Me and my son watch neighbours together every night before bed.

BikeRunSki · 04/07/2021 09:33

The Middle
(Not Malcolm in the Middle, just The Middle).

iamtopazmortmain · 04/07/2021 09:34

I think Horrible Histories are reallly funny - but I mean they are hard to put into a category - not sit com - but utterly brilliat.

Absolutely - I just googled it - can't believe it was made in the late1980s/ early 890s!!! It's on All4. The Stoneybridge segments are genius, and ofen quoted in this house.
