Just reading this about the improved support contestants will be receiving - counselling sessions and social media support. Love Island: ITV announces new contestant welfare measures

Reading the news this morning and it looks like Hugo hasn’t actually really worked as a teacher, he’s just finished training and won’t be going back to it after LI.
He’s gambling quite a bit there as if he leaves early on he’s not going to be getting much of a media career out of it

Brad's behaviour was awful, horrible the way he spoke about Faye with the lads and dreadful the way he was in the task and talking with her.

Chris and Maura were my two favourite contestants. Can't wait to see what Chuggs will bring to the show

Jake reminds me of Hulk from series one personality and looks wise. I think his actual name is Jordan?

On a completely different note, my DH and I do not like Jake at all and have decided he is likely to be a narcissist!

Did you see how annoyed he got when Liberty jokingly described him as “goofy”? His face actually turned, just for a second. The same thing happened when she said he was serious, and he was most annoyed of all when she asked him “Are you big spoon or little spoon?”. He seemed seriously pissed off as he refuted the idea that he could be “little spoon”, even bringing it up later to the other men when they were talking in the bedroom!

If he is like that on camera I can only imagine what he might be like behind closed doors - a real “walking on eggshells” risk. I feel uneasy when I see him with Liberty as she is so open and happy, and she had to backtrack on those occasions when he got annoyed.

Yes I thought the same thing. I actually wondered if he didn’t understand the word “goofy” in the context that she used it because of how instantly annoyed he got. Liberty deffo has had to backtrack a few times already and I am quietly concerned. Jake does seem like he could have a controlling, coercive side to him which is something to be mindful of.

Oh dear, Brad and Chloe did not come across well last night. I wish one of the boys had called him out on it.

I felt sorry for Faye, I hope she doesn't unravel.

I didn't mind Shannon going, she didn't really bring much to the programme. I like the sound of Liam.

I love watching for the sunshine and holiday vibes. I wonder if foreign holidays will ever be possible again, like in the old days.

I'm quite worried about how well Faye is going to handle being on the show with what we have seen so far to be honest.

From early into episode 1 when she and Kaz stepped forward for Aaron only to have him pick Shannon (who didn't step forward) it's been clear she is really quite insecure. Her reaction at that point was a little over the top, especially in comparison to Kaz whose attitude was "move on to the next one, chin up!", that's the attitude you need to have in Love Island, what happened there wasn't shocking for anyone who has seen the show, but Faye seemed knocked by it. There have been other things too, but her reaction last night makes me uneasy with whether she can cope with the inevitable comparisons to other girls, not being picked, having her 'couple' chose someone else, other girls trying to steal her man... I think she is really insecure and I'm really not sure this show will be good for her. What Brad did was unkind, I'm not defending it, but they coupled up less than 48 hours ago, it was the first coupling so wasn't based on anything other than superficial looks, and they weren't exactly hitting it off big time, so he doesn't really owe her some huge loyalty at this point.

She might be used to being the most gorgeous in her group of friends back home, and now in the villa she is surrounded with beautiful girls she isn't the standout she normally is, in villa terms she is average. I wonder if that is exacerbating it.

I think that's a good point and stands for pretty much every islander.

Hugo having just finished ITT will explain why he's been able to leave school at this point in the year. What a waste of a year and all of the costs of paying for his training. At least he won't have got a bursary with PE.

He and Kaz did look more promising together after the date, but I can't shake the feeling she could do better

I'm reserving judgement on Jake, although I do understand what PP are saying. I think Kaz is the most natural looking.

@riotlady I think I’m the only one not aboard the Hugo train- there’s something about him that makes me suspect he’s a “nice” guy rather than just a nice guy iyswim.

I completely agree. I can't put my finger on it, from the promo stuff I thought he was going to be my favourite but I just haven't warmed to him. Sharon was saying last night that she was wanting to give it a chance and he just wasn't speaking to her. Maybe he's just shy, I'll give it time. But I suspect he's also used to getting attention from girls and maybe hasn't had to try that hard, didn't he play cricket for England?

I got this exact same feeling about Jake the minute I heard him speak in the promo about “little white toes” I’ve now got a really strong reaction to him, like a little red flag pops up every time he come on screen.

I loved Chris , I still follow him on insta, he continues to come across as a decent sort with a big sense of humour. He and Maura still seem to be friends as well which is the mark of a decent soul I think.

Shannon seem very shy and reserved considering she’s been a model and on social media. I think She could have been more into the game they played. Faye seems to be a copycat version of Maura in one sense. I haven’t seen the last interaction with her and Brad. Why are her lips that massive. I like kaz. Liberty is sweet

Am I the only one who doesn't like Liberty? I hate that fake bimbo act. And her look is really dated, the stripper shoes, tiny bet on dress, terrible extensions and bad make up

I really didn't like the way Shannon got kicked out. She was in a couple with someone not of her choosing and then the mere fact that Chloe picked Aaron meant she had to leave.

I know similar has gone on in previous series but surely it was too soon after just one night?

I'm not a big fan of Chloe's but whoever she chose would have resulted in a girl leaving and that can't make her too popular, even though they all know what they signed up for?

And already she's decided she doesn't like Aaron anyway! So it was like Shannon went for nothing.

Yeh I’m not liking the Shannon thing either I think it was really out of order but then I’ve heard people saying she may come back for casa amor but I doubt it as that’s usually much later into the show?

The only thing I don’t like about Kaz is that she has pointedly mentioned the fact that Toby doesn’t go to the gym a few times now. It makes her sound really superficial. Can you imagine if one of the guys said that about a girl? There would be outrage!
