True it's up to her to put as much crap in her body as she pleases just such a shame so low body image forces women to do this. Truly self assured, confident women don't do this to themselves. IMO it's a shame.
Had to laugh at the rest though 🤣[/quote]
You don't know any of these contestants or what their self-image is like you are just projecting onto them. God forbid they are intelligent young women who make their own decisions. You can have your dated opinions on what confident women do. The misogyny shines through.

Zampa · 30/06/2021 23:16

I'm pretty confident and self assured but I have Botox and cheek fillers. Will probably add more tweakments as I get older.

You do you and they do them.

AliceLivesHere · 30/06/2021 23:18

@ForgedInFireor

You talk a lot of nonsense. I would consider men that pump crap into their body also to have low self esteem too. Sadly, dig under the surface and very vulnerable people below the mask.
It tends to come out years later.

Not sure why you are so confident in your beliefs. I think you talk a lot of nonsense. Some of the most happy, confident people I have ever known have had a nip and a tuck. Not everyone who turns to cosmetic procedures is miserable and lacking in self confidence. You have a very narrow view of what a happy, self assured person is. Why even watch the show if you are going to judge them so harshly?

SnuggledUpInABlanket · 30/06/2021 23:32

Faye was very threatened by Chloe coming in the house, I don't think she is anywhere near as confident as she seems.

AngeloMysterioso · 30/06/2021 23:42

I just get the feeling she’s used to getting all the male attention back home so can’t really handle it when she’s rejected.

AuntieStella · 30/06/2021 23:46

@SunSeaSurfGin

Anyone else googling Surrey Bucket Hats to see what Chuggs actually does
It means he's a milliner

And overacting to make sure no one ever thinks he's camp

KarenofSparta · 01/07/2021 06:27

I actually got so bored halfway through last night I switched off and over to Too Hot to Handle on Netflix- way better IMO.

Is it worth watching the last half? Did it get better?

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 01/07/2021 07:00

Too hot to handle is great absolutely loving it only have the final left. I’m hoping LI improves not sure what’s missing this year but something is.

KarenofSparta · 01/07/2021 07:16

Agreed.

I'm right behind you with THTH Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse currently on S2: Ep. 8

So no spoilers :)

Indeed.
Frazzledazzles · 01/07/2021 07:43

I thought it was interesting when Faye said “how can he find Chloe most attractive and me least attractive when she looks just like me?”

Chloe does not look like Faye. Chloe is the most natural looking in there. It made me wonder how Faye actually sees herself.

I agree with @AliceLivesHere - there is a difference between a bit of a filler and a blow up doll look and I don’t see anything about that young woman that says she is confident about who she is.

Her reaction to being rejected confirmed that: She was furious and nasty with it. His behaviour was unpleasant but if she really did have high self esteem that I don’t think it would have hit her so hard and caused her to retaliate in an aggressive way.

Doghairismyglitter · 01/07/2021 08:08

Faye is this years Olivia. Brads rambling monologues send me to sleep. Chloe makes my skin itch with irritation. Liberty seems so lovely and sweet, think she will get her heart broken; I get a bad feeling from Jake. And wouldn’t trust him in Casa Amor one bit.

AuntieStella · 01/07/2021 08:08

I thought it was interesting when Faye said “how can he find Chloe most attractive and me least attractive when she looks just like me?”

Agree, but for a different reason.

Even if their features were utterly identical, they are different people. Even though they haven't known each other long enough for the 'personality' they talk of so much to be really showing, manners mannerisms and all sorts of other little 'tells' that make up the first impression are doing so.

And perhaps she wasn't thinking of that when she spoke that sentence.

Look how those of us who are older and who are watching from guilty pleasure or to keep older teens company (and who are only seeing what the producers show us) react differently. I was put in mind of Chris - who was nicely average in looks - and how the audience loved him. We liked his mannerisms (SOH, which was wittier than the bants), his self-deprecation and good nature, and perhaps most of all his manners - it was perfectly clear that he did not find Harley attractive at all, but my goodness he was so nice to her and about her the whole time, made sure she enjoyed the date and was suitably attentive but didn't lead her on. He didn't ever fancy her (just as most of this bunch don't fancy each other) but was still making sure she was having a good time and really looked for the good things about her.

I've not been watching for as long as many on this thread, and don't have all the Islanders at my fingertips (as it were) like some, but of those I can remember, I'd want my DD with a Chris (as the producers showed him to us)

ashmts · 01/07/2021 08:09

@Frazzledazzles Chloe, natural?! Fake lips, fake boobs, fake lashes. Not that I'm saying there's anything wrong with it but she's hardly more natural than Faye. I actually do think they're a bit similar (thin, blonde, got a certain look), and Brad did pick Faye out of the line up so he clearly does think she's attractive. He behaved like an idiot. I think Love Island would mess with even the most self-confident person.

I actually do think Faye is attractive (more attractive than Chloe). I wouldn't choose to look like her, but I'm not surprised all the boys went for her in the line-up purely on looks.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 01/07/2021 08:09

I agree with @AliceLivesHere - there’s a big difference between “high” and “positive” self-esteem and people like Faye tend to show high self-esteem, which crumbles quickly when their USP doesn’t work for them. I found last years LI quite fun to watch. This time round not so much.
Agree that Hugo is just not enough of a insta type to do well Sad

NotTheCatsWhiskers · 01/07/2021 08:10

Jake will stay with Liberty but be bored and have his head turned in Casa Amor.

AliceLivesHere · 01/07/2021 08:18

Indeed, sadly in time I think we will see her crumble. The veneer is there for a reason. This type of show does focus on looks and ones that use looks as their USP as another poster said rather than genuine confidence and personality tend to show up. Hopefully, mental health support is there for those that need it.
blossomhillx · 01/07/2021 08:19

I felt awful for Faye when Brad was slagging her off to Tom he boys in the bedroom- so bitchy and unnecessary! And to kiss her as the most unattractiveShock I think I would have cried if it was me he deserved her reaction IMO!
Can't stand Chloe she will think she is bees knees now and how nasty going over to listen to Faye get dumped.
I love Kaz but not convinced by her date with Toby that's he's actually interested he seems a bit clueless.
Hugo is sweet but I feel like his cards have already been written this series as "the nice guy" and Dr Alex type snd we all know how that goes!

GrealishHairband · 01/07/2021 08:20

I loved Chris , I still follow him on insta, he continues to come across as a decent sort with a big sense of humour. He and Maura still seem to be friends as well which is the mark of a decent soul I think.

Frazzledazzles · 01/07/2021 08:20

@ashmts - I meant her face looks most natural. You’re right though, looking again she probably has had fillers; she just looks natural when compared to the others.

I read that Faye is being sponsored by a cosmetic surgery company. I suppose that her lips are not supposed to look natural - in the same way that black eyebrows/some breast implants etc are very exaggerated and are not intended to look natural at all.

It’s just hard to understand when they could get a similar effect in a way that does look believable. I know several people who have had work done - including lips - who I wouldn’t never have guessed if they hadn’t told me. The same with Botox, it doesn’t have to be that shiny frozen look at all. (I know because I have it but still have movement and faint lines and just look less tired - although I must admit, occasionally the temptation is there to ask for lots more and to “get rid of all the lines completely” 😂)

blossomhillx · 01/07/2021 08:23

Also I wonder if producers hinted to Chloe to pick Aaron to ultimately eliminate Shannon for not kissing and being more of a presence Hmm as I did not see her even speak to him there was never any real chemistry to begin with

AuntieStella · 01/07/2021 08:26

the card said Islander, he could have jokingly kissed another one of the guys on the cheek or something to avoid embarrassing one of the girls

If he was canny, he'd have kissed his own hand!

Frazzledazzles · 01/07/2021 08:26

On a completely different note, my DH and I do not like Jake at all and have decided he is likely to be a narcissist!

Did you see how annoyed he got when Liberty jokingly described him as “goofy”? His face actually turned, just for a second. The same thing happened when she said he was serious, and he was most annoyed of all when she asked him “Are you big spoon or little spoon?”. He seemed seriously pissed off as he refuted the idea that he could be “little spoon”, even bringing it up later to the other men when they were talking in the bedroom!

If he is like that on camera I can only imagine what he might be like behind closed doors - a real “walking on eggshells” risk. I feel uneasy when I see him with Liberty as she is so open and happy, and she had to backtrack on those occasions when he got annoyed.

GrealishHairband · 01/07/2021 08:28

@Frazzledazzles yes. I don’t trust Jake at all. I don’t think he’s a nice person.
