Modern family fanatics

Is anyone else obsessed with modern family? It's my easy watching show, along with friends. I start from the beginning, and then when it's finished start all over again! I adore it.
What's your favourite episode/moment and who's your fave character?
I love them all, but Gloria is my favourite.
My best moments are Jay slapping the chicken, and cam screaming for stella in the street.
Best episode is cam and mitch's wedding!

We also love Scout the dog asking to be let out to have a wee in the garden & Phil admiring how smart he is. Claire responds that that kind of thing is pretty normal just before Luke runs into the door trying to get outside.

Classic.

When Mitch has to pose as the idiot farm hand as Cam isn't out to Grams.

Any scene with Pepper but mostly when Jay gets drunk with them all & promises to go out with Pepper the next day. Gloria totally throws him under the bus.

Gloria is my favourite too.

"do you know how smart I am in Spanish" is probably her best line and it really resonated with me (English is my second language also)

Gloria "now I go to church.

We love this and its our favourite thing st the moment. We only discovered it in lockdown so haven't finished it.

However when discussing this with friends realised there's a Phil divide. I find him unbelievably cringy and thought that was the point! You can see where he's coming from and he cares but he's truly awful and it would be awful actually being married to him . (Although one thing about m.family that is lovely is how they all have their faults but love and stick to each other as family. )

Aparently others think Phil is great and want to "be more Phil"?!!?!?

Absoloutley love it. Phil is my favourite character, though I think they all are pretty great generally (Manny aside).

Gutted Haley and Andy split - I read somewhere he wanted to stop doing the show so maybe the writers just had to make do.

Theres some hum finger episodes towards seasons 9/10/11 but on the whole they are all pretty great

My favourite episode is the one done entirely on Claire's Laptop. It's a genius concept, we get all the characters properly showing who they are and it's very very funny.

Love it.

Favourite bit was the scene where Phil buys a rare baseball card for Jay but gets tasered whilst holding it. Actually makes me laugh out loud when I see it. It’s the way he gets little after-shocks.

Though I think they let it go on for too long. The final season was awful.

Apparently Hayley didn't end up with Andy because in real life Andy was doing Pitch Perfect instead of Modern Family :(

my absolute favourite scene was all of them reading quotes from Philsosophy

that line made me laugh so hard & loudly that 2 of my kids ran downstairs, worried, to check on me because they thought I was crying in pain.
It was a proper laughing fit with tears, wee and unable to talk or properly breathe for almost 10 mins.

Phil and Cam are my favourites. The episode I love best is the one where Chris Martin sings Phil's song in the hospital 🤣
We were in tears laughing at it. I thought Chris Martin was a great sport, basically taking the piss out of himself.

Absoutley love the relationship between Phil and his dad.

I read somewhere that the writers had Ty Burrell in mind for Phil and the producers were like "err....nope" they saw loads of actors and none hit the mark. Writers pushed for Ty, he auditioned and the producers said "ah ok, yeah we get it now"

Phil is my favourite although I have a soft spot for Jay too. Loved the taser episode too!

I started watching them all again from the beginning. I missed quite a few episodes of season 3 so it's been good to watch it in order.

I've just been inspired to come back to this thread after seeing the clip I'd forgotten about, of Gloria and Manny overhearing Cam say 'I wish that tart would go back to Colombia and take her weird little Brown friend with her'

I’ve just watched this scene again and it still makes me laugh. Ty Burrell is amazing at physical comedy.

He’s tasered by Manny and, when he eventually gets up, hands the money over to the seller, holds the rare baseball card…

“Mint condition!”

…and is overcome with a spasm which causes him to crumple the card.

“Near mint condition”

Another spasm.

“Fair condition”

Yet another spasm.

“Garbage”.

Then he hobbles over to a skip

Oh gosh yes, with Cam at the side trying to join in, a beat behind everyone else!

I have rewatched many times and love it, love it, love it. There’s so many subtle one liners that are hilarious but easily missed first time round.

Phil is awesome and my absolute favourite - it’s his crazy enthusiasm for life I love. Love Gloria, and also think Jay is fab in an understated way. As someone said up thread, all the characters are so strong, that’s what makes it.

However have only watched on Netflix so not seen the last few series. Cannot wait to go and find them on Disney!
