See you Saturday

EmphaticPeriod · 20/05/2021 22:15

Albania - really, too shrieky
Bulgaria - meh, too whiny
Moldova - nah, too breathy
so only 3/6 for my predictions for who'd get booted
lucky silver dress/totty voting Serbia
and two of my favourites from tonight are goners, what a shame
Estonia - eye candy pop ballad boy
Poland - I know but it was cheesy awesome

LookItsMeAgain · 20/05/2021 22:15

Till Saturday then 💖

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 20/05/2021 22:15

For those that couldn't vote thru the app, I had to uninstall it and then install the new updated one (had to uninstall first) and then it all worked. Something to do before Saturday 😉

CliffsofMohair · 20/05/2021 22:17

Saturday folks 😁

EmphaticPeriod · 20/05/2021 22:18

Yay the bmx bandit's back!

EmphaticPeriod · 20/05/2021 22:19

oh sorry, I'm on repeat Blush

RedToothBrush · 20/05/2021 22:22

I have to say I don't think theres an absoluete stand out song this year. Theres a few I think are good / will do well so it could be a fierce competition this year.

Italy, Switzerland, Iceland, Cyprus, Malta & Sweden have to be the ones to watch.

Germany is just on pure acid. I'm very fond of Belgium. Portugal, Norway, Lithunia, Finland and Russia are entertaining though aren't winners.

I'm yet to decide who I think will win. But I'm leaning towards it being between Malta and Switzerland. My heart wants Iceland but I don't think they will win. I think Sweden and Cyprus too similar to previous entries and Italy will suffer from Finland getting into the final.

mathanxiety · 20/05/2021 22:32

I just don't get Switzerland at all.

Love Iceland, Italy, Ukraine, Russia, Finland, Lithuania.

EmphaticPeriod · 20/05/2021 22:45

San Marino - adrenalina is no gasolina but FloRida is a pro, how much did he get paid do we think? --maybe he'll sign up for Glitterball DWTS!
Estonia - was easy on the eye but 2nd is always death slot
Czech Rep - 70 000 sequins were wasted
Greece - cat suit down to the heels, fair play
Austria - dirge and did heart hands so it was a no from me
Poland - hysterical the 80s called and wanted everything back
Iceland - sympathy vote for being robbed last year and Covid now
Serbia - how many are going for nearly wearing their dresses
Georgia - looked pained on the playback
Albania - Maschreia Scary
Portugal - nope, naff and the all being on the phone skit during the vote almost as bad as phone hands, heart hands or prayer hands
Bulgaria - Billy Eyelash has a lot to answer for
Finland - cancels out Italy. Job done.
Latvia - the worst tonight, cheese needed in ears
Switzerland - my favourite maudlin one this year
Denmark - Andy Bell's lovechild - Sarah nailed it

England - James is very smiley but is singing ambers
France - tres french
Spain - well, someone has to use a moon prop

See you all Saturday
I am rooting for Lithuania or Switzerland

re Switzerland, I liked the lyrics...

Let the wind brush
His/her hand over my shoulder
The void in my head
Not a single place to hide
The dawn is fading
Behind a field of ruins
It’s time to grow up
Don’t hold yourself back
I see pieces of you behind us
And I see what pain has made of me
The whole universe
Our two hearts under the ground
At the centre of the rifts where everything explodes
Being at the point of impact
Without you
What will happen to our breaths
If they stay on the shore?
This love that wrings us out
I see pieces of you behind us
And I see what pain has made of me
The whole universe
Our two hearts under the ground
At the centre of the rifts where everything explodes
Being at the point of impact
Without you
Behind my eyelids
Get some air
Ah
(The whole universe)
(Our two hearts under the ground)
At the centre of the rifts and the aftershocks
We will meet at the point of impact
How can we heal our exploding hearts
The whole universe

Mans must be the most successful winner ever.

Wonderful though Mans is, there was this little four-piece from Sweden quite a long time ago whom I've never seen hanging around my local Cash Converters.... Grin

Running order:

eurovision.tv/story/grand-final-running-order-revealed#main

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 21/05/2021 07:02

I think Mans is the winner of recent times who has most continued his relationship with Eurovision. In the past if a winner had international success they bogged off and pretty much distanced themselves from it. Celine Dion being a prime example.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 21/05/2021 07:10

They've misspelled the Spanish song title on the official running order page #spanishspeakingpedant

EmphaticPeriod · 21/05/2021 07:12

Ah bless him, FloRida opening yesterday, closes the show on Saturday night! Grin

I didn't phrase it quite right. I don't mean in terms of global success, but in terms of his longevity and involvement with Eurovision. He gets brought out every year, pretty much and by now has become assimilated with Eurovision. Whereas when you think about Abba or Celine Dion, you don't think of Eurovision.
RedToothBrush · 21/05/2021 08:07

Think the draw works well for Italy, France, Sweden and probably Iceland.

Eurovision 2021 2 voting is now open!

We're song 9 again. I'll be raising my glass to the late great Sir Terry

Ding Dong!

When worlds collide!!!!!

That is just brilliant!!!!!!

It looks like he set up his equipment in a car park by the side of the road, but that's a whole other story...

LookItsMeAgain · 21/05/2021 08:50

@dillite

Mans must be the most successful winner ever. He hasn't left our screens since and gets wheeled out every year
Do you mean that's he hung around Eurovision most since his win as there are plenty of successful acts that have won and then left Eurovision behind or that have not won Eurovision and move on with the music careers.
WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 21/05/2021 09:15

Ah bless him, FloRida opening yesterday, closes the show on Saturday night!

Nothing against him personally, but they should have European equivalents instead: Lim Eric, Bert Mingum, Sarah Yay-voh....
