At what point do you think the writers realised they forgot to give Robert a funeral? Did they have an 'oh shit' moment but it was too late to do anything about it or have they still not twigged

Akire · 02/06/2021 18:33

I have no recollection of Robert dying at all!

MrsSteveMcDonald · 02/06/2021 18:51

Are you one of the writers? Hmm

eggandonion · 02/06/2021 18:59

I thought Sam's mum was lending Gail the cash to fill the sink hole? Maybe it has gone.

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 02/06/2021 19:33

Poor Robert. He survived marriage to Tracey, testicular cancer and a heart attack only to get killed by a stray bullet. Maybe the undertaker popped his corpse in with Seb. I thought it very odd that Ani went to see a nailed down coffin. Surely they could have bunged the Seb actor a few extra quid to lie in the coffin with his eyes shut.

eggandonion · 02/06/2021 19:46

Maybe he had upsetting injuries, beyond being upsetting dead.

thenightsky · 02/06/2021 21:11

Was it not on tonight, or have I missed it?

Akire · 02/06/2021 21:15

No was football or some such thing!

Honeyroar · 02/06/2021 21:21

Ah right. They’d grassed it over quickly.

Another thing that bugged me was how Seb’s coffin was sitting right in the main room as you entered the funeral parlour, and only screened ofc when he left Abbie on her own. As if!

RJnomore1 · 02/06/2021 22:01

No nothing can happen to Rita, I’m still missing Percy, Phyllis and betty 😟

Honeyroar · 02/06/2021 22:04

It would’ve really made us sit up if Sharon had shot Rita!

nildesparandum · 02/06/2021 22:06

Billy is the last person I would want to comfort me.Archdeacon or not

JemimaTab · 03/06/2021 00:46

What does an archdeacon do exactly? Isn’t there any actual vicaring involved, like doing weddings/christenings or visiting parishioners or something? Cos we never see Billy do any of that.

SpindleWhorl · 03/06/2021 01:26

Well, according to the Gospel of St Wiki,

Archdeacons serve the church in part of a diocese by taking particular responsibility for all buildings, the welfare of clergy and their families and the implementation of diocesan policy for the sake of the Gospel

Now I'm not one to cast aspersions, but I'd say that Holy Billy does precisely none of that.

JemimaTab · 03/06/2021 01:45

@TheVolturi

Yes Ronnie did look quite awesome the other day didn't he, with his arms out. I'd been thinking he was just a porker before that, in his too tight jackets. Ronnie or Johnny? Not a fair contest is it really!
Given the choice (and I’m a similar age to Jenny), I’d much rather have a go on Ronnie than Johnny. If it were Johnnie 25 years ago (his Prime Suspect era) it might be a different story. But to be fair I’m not what I was 25 years ago either. Sadly, I suspect they will try to get Jenny and Johnny together again before too long. But I don’t think they’ve ever really been great together so I’m not sure I’d buy into that as a storyline.
Iwantacampervan · 03/06/2021 08:27

In Classic Corrie (1998) Rita has just complained to Leanne that she's feeling old and can't do the early morning papers. 23 years later she's still working!

eggandonion · 03/06/2021 08:39

Johnny was kind to Johnny, and looked after her. In turn she looked after him. But somewhere they seemed to stop liking each other.

UhtredRagnarson · 03/06/2021 21:24

😂😂😂 at Ronnie to Johnny! “How you doing?”

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 03/06/2021 21:28

A police officer that wasn't Craig Shock

TellingBone · 03/06/2021 21:41

Ridiculous plan. They went to all that trouble to get knock-out drops for Corey and then what does Asha do? Stays in the room with him instead of legging it with the phone.

They could have screen-shotted or copied anything incriminating and returned the phone. And have a back up explanation if he woke up that Asha had left when he 'fell asleep' and had picked up his phone by mistake.

Honeyroar · 03/06/2021 23:07

In reality Abbie would’ve had him tied up and interrogated him by spotlight, not left Asha on her own with her plan.

There aren't any other clergy for him to take care of. In reality the new Parish Vicar would be offering services to the bereaved. Although Billy still might as he's also a friend. At least that's how my church works. My new Vicar offers me support when I need it. The old one is a friend so he messages me every now and again to make sure I'm OK. Although he went to Vicar elsewhere not become an archdeacon.
ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 04/06/2021 00:51

How dare Johnny be the one to leave Jenny, he had a full on affair with Liz Macdonald, was utterly vile to Jenny when Aiden died and became physically as well as mentally abusive, he then decides to bare his soul that he was involved in a robbery and murder which put Jenny in mortal danger with that man who was blackmailing him, Jenny then has to run the pub on his own whilst he was languishing in prison seeing the ghost of his dead son, she also looks after him with his MS and that’s just what I can remember off the top of my head, I’m sure there’s more. Jenny has a one night stand which she bitterly regrets and he takes the moral high ground, the nerve of him.

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 04/06/2021 00:57

On a Corrie fashion front I really did not like Sarah’s suit, it totally swamped her small frame and she really does not suit having no fringe, the scraped back hair did her no favours.

Serpenta · 04/06/2021 01:09

I thought the same thing about her hair. Her normal 60s style fringe suits her so well.
