OK, I know I'm probably talking to a niche market, but any other euroviz fans out there? Scorecards ready for the first semi-final? got your tree up? bets placed? predictions?

I miss Rylan.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 18/05/2021 21:41

Scott in a waistcoat Grin

banivani · 18/05/2021 21:41

@MotherOfGodWeeFella

The year Riverdance was the interlude I was living abroad and the national TV company showed interviews with their jury members instead.
I’m genuinely sorry for you! Sad it was amazing!
ilovesooty · 18/05/2021 21:41

I love Malta. I go every year.

Raahh · 18/05/2021 21:42

Oh- they aren't boots- just light trousers/shoes Grin

andtheweedonkey · 18/05/2021 21:42

Oh god.
That old fucker is Johnny Logan!
🙈

OublietteBravo · 18/05/2021 21:42

Hello. Our combined scores have Cyprus (53), Malta (40), Sweden (34), Norway (28), Croatia (26), Australia (20), Belgium (20), Russia (20), Ukraine (17) and Azerbaijan (10) qualifying.

I doubt that’s correct. I definitely expect Lithuania (7) to qualify. Presumably instead of either Australia, Belgium or Azerbaijan.

singsingbluesilver · 18/05/2021 21:42

I think if Malta wins they would have to create an outdoor venue. There is a lovely theater in Valletta, but far too small. Maybe they could build something outside the walls where the fountain is?

I liked the song from Malta and they take eurovision seriously. I am trying to work out which ones will get most 'political; votes. Could be a good year for the neutrals like Malta - not Skandi, not Eastern Europe.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 18/05/2021 21:43

It was all over the English language papers afterwards (back in the day when papers were more of a thing) so we knew about it, just hadn't seen it. It was a sensation. Finally saw it when I came home.

banivani · 18/05/2021 21:43

Hold me now is such a great song. That was a great year overall.

OublietteBravo · 18/05/2021 21:43

We have both N. Macedonia and Romania on nul points

singsingbluesilver · 18/05/2021 21:43

I remember the absolute wow factor of Riverdance. It was bloody amazing.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 18/05/2021 21:43

Typical: you build a massive stadium but everybody wants to crowd in and play in the Little Tykes greenhouse!

dillite · 18/05/2021 21:43

Why is it that every time I see Rylan, his head has grown more? It's like it has doubled in size over the years.

JaneJeffer · 18/05/2021 21:44

I have cast my vote. Come on Norway!

JaneJeffer · 18/05/2021 21:44

Fillers dillite

Raahh · 18/05/2021 21:45

Didn't Johnny write a winning song, as well as win twice.

He's a Eurovison legend.

OublietteBravo · 18/05/2021 21:45

Geopolitics are surely against Israel this year.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 18/05/2021 21:45

Is this a BBC meeting room they're using?

ilovesooty · 18/05/2021 21:46

@Raahh

Didn't Johnny write a winning song, as well as win twice.

He's a Eurovison legend.

He wrote "Why Me?" I think.
WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 18/05/2021 21:46

We are all sending Rylan healing vines!

Are they like veeeery special 'herbs'? Well, I suppose it's in the right country for them, if so Grin

JaneJeffer · 18/05/2021 21:46

Yes Raahh he wrote Linda Martin's song Why Me?

honeyrider · 18/05/2021 21:46

Yeah the year Linda Martin won with Why Me
MotherOfGodWeeFella · 18/05/2021 21:46

Cheryl Baker is exactly like someone I work with! Uncanny.

Raahh · 18/05/2021 21:46

Riverdance was massive.

I thought about the other day, because I saw an advert for the new animated film about it.
