Just noticed the old thread was nearly full.

Will Gobby get in trouble for being drunk at work?

Raahh · 07/06/2021 14:03

I'm not keen on new miserable Val. We need happy Val back.

Raahh · 07/06/2021 14:05

oh this is sadSad

doctorsnoddy · 07/06/2021 15:42

You've been talking to yourself today Raahh. Just watched. Why's Sid so miserable? Did he fall out with his mum?

Raahh · 07/06/2021 15:45

doctors I've been talking to myself a lot. Grin

I think Sid was sad because his dad wasn't interested/too busy when he rang him about the fundraising /tv thing. And then - no-one else was very interested either.

MadisonAvenue · 07/06/2021 16:31

We get Nick Owen on Midlands Today, I suppose that was a cheap/free option with the local news being filmed just up at the BBC in the city centre Grin

Raahh · 07/06/2021 17:00
Grin

I didn't recognise him at first.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 07/06/2021 17:57

Sid fell out with his mum at least a year ago after he found out that his parents had had his younger brother adopted once they realised he had Downs Syndrome- Sid didn't know that he even had this brother (who I think is called Lawrence, I cannot remember). His dad goes and visits his brother at his home but his mum has never seen him and Sid couldn't forgive his mum. He sees his brother sometimes but the brother just thinks he's a volunteer/friend. I like Sid and hope he gets some action with the police officer Rob fancies!
I didn't enjoy today's episode tbh - far too many covid references and we get enough of that in real life!!

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 07/06/2021 18:04

I love Nick Owen. Remember his morning show with Anne Diamond?

OnwardsEverStridingOnwards · 07/06/2021 20:31

Sid's getting on very well with Harriet. It would be lovely if they got together, I think ❤️

doctorsnoddy · 07/06/2021 20:47

Ah thank you small I had half forgotten about his mum and brother.

RaspberryCoulis · 08/06/2021 13:46

Dear Lord, is that Leslie Ash?

Shocking acting.

RaspberryCoulis · 08/06/2021 13:47

Shocking acting even by Doctors standards, I mean.

JustDanceAddict · 08/06/2021 13:57

Dearie me, it is! I knew I recognised her, but wtf re the face.
RaspberryCoulis · 08/06/2021 13:58

She was a passably-OK actress in the 90s. But she is really, really awful in this and that's saying something.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 08/06/2021 14:21

Poor Sid. He really is so lonely and never sees himself as worthy or interesting, it's such a shame. I hope Bear can talk to him a bit about what is going on there. Not liking Harriet and Rob flirting at all and I really am feeling sorry for Karen. I wonder if Emma will have a word with Rob or Harriet?

MadisonAvenue · 08/06/2021 17:44

Leslie Ash was awful wasn’t she. I’m sure I read that she’s appearing in Casualty soon too.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 08/06/2021 18:34

I thought Leslie Ash was going to go in Holby City and so she was mentioned as one of the people who would be most upset by its cancellation after 23 series? I didn't think she was that bad but I see I am in the minority!!

doctorsnoddy · 08/06/2021 21:32

I didn't recognise Leslie Ash ....

Apparently she was in Holby for a while (not something I watch so I wouldn’t know) and she’s appearing as the same character in an episode of Casualty (which I do watch).

Oooh anti Scottish racism in Letherbridge today!

doctorsnoddy · 09/06/2021 14:00

...and Sid in drunk at work situation! I thought yesterday's binging was uncharacteristic

RaspberryCoulis · 09/06/2021 14:10

@doctorsnoddy

Oooh anti Scottish racism in Letherbridge today!
It happens a lot. I was regularly called a fucking Jock when working in the south east.

Not liking the "everyone from Glasgow is an impoverished junkie from a council estate" stereotypes though.

doctorsnoddy · 09/06/2021 14:34

Raspberry I'm Scottish too, don't get any abuse at all, mind you I'm the north east (Of England)

Willowkins · 09/06/2021 17:03

Everything seemed exaggerated today. It's almost as if they need a sledgehammer to fit the story into 25 minutes instead of using some finesse. Ah well. In other news, I also lost my keys today - but found them in the sock drawer.
