Just noticed the old thread was nearly full.

I am so glad it's going back to 5 days- I get so confused on a Friday.

But- it's nearly Wimbledon/Euros/Olympics( if it goes ahead)- will Doctors be going off for a summer break??

smallandimperfectlyformed · 27/05/2021 17:01

I got quite angry with today's episode. Jimmi didn't give Tom the right advice at all in my mind, he shouldn't have been encouraging Tom to think that he couldn't manage without his irritating vegan girlfriend. It actually grated on me that they had a domestic abuse storyline this week and then they had a man dumped for eating a sandwich as though that was acceptable! Val was mean to Nathan, was she at one point telling him the sex wasn't good? They certainly seemed to be having good chemistry on the day of the bake sale.
Even more annoying, it looks like Rob is flirting with the new PC in next week's episode.

FuzzyPuffling · 27/05/2021 17:43

Val dumped Nathan?????
Bollocks. No new cat for Val then. And no badger dress either.

Willowkins · 27/05/2021 18:19

Well. Why couldn't the writers allow Val to be happy? She's going to work through Sid's bucket list book now isn't she?

OnwardsEverStridingOnwards · 27/05/2021 22:23

Is it okay if I join in? I'm a big Doctors Fan.

Haven't watched today's episode. Am going to catch up now as I've recorded it.

So, Valarie's dumped Nathan? Say it isn't so! I loved them together.

EversoDelighted · 27/05/2021 22:27

All Doctors fans welcome here (so long as you don't mind the piss-taking!).

@EversoDelighted not at all. Smile
OnwardsEverStridingOnwards · 27/05/2021 23:35

Poor Nathan. Fancy Valarie saying all that to him. She was in such a filthy mood in the last episode Sad

EversoDelighted · 28/05/2021 07:15

I know, that was really horrible of her. Fair enough if she wants out because of incompatibility but there are nicer ways of doing it and I think I'd have given it longer than a couple of weeks.

OP posts:
Raahh · 28/05/2021 11:06

It felt a bit odd the way Val went from 'all over Nathan like a rash' - to dumping him so quickly(all though the traveling issue was flagged up ina previous episode). It's especailly rubbish given that she appeared from no-where in Nathan's life- opened a can of worms, started a relationship with him- and then gets drunk and dumps him.

I hope she does feel bad about what she said (when she sobers up)- but it's probably the last we've seen of Nathan Sad.

It sets it up nicely for her to be single (and therefore available, and supportive) when Gobbyplod does something he laters regrets- and Gobby falls apart.

Not that the writers usually put that much thought into things.
Grin.

EversoDelighted · 28/05/2021 11:13

She doesn't really travel though does she, she has a fairly run-of-the-mill job Grin, likes a party and is a cat-person. There are plenty of ways of travelling without a partner too, organised group holidays and suchlike.

OP posts:
Raahh · 28/05/2021 11:37

Ever I think the point was- she had reached 50, and was talking of going off and seeing the world. The recent cancer scare made he her realise she hadn't done much- and she nearly ran off with Ricky Grin.
Nathan made a comment about his traveling days being behind him So, she started to realise he wasn't really for her, after all.

Bit mean to liken him to leek and potato soup, though - it's not that dull Grin.

Yes, the bucket list book is going to be a big thing. Although it isn't actually the first time she's done one- I think she started one when she went through her first cancer treatment.

Raahh · 28/05/2021 11:39

(But that ended with her dumping Barry at the altar- so we'll gloss over it)

Grin
doctorsnoddy · 28/05/2021 12:16

I agree it's a bit odd, what was the point of introducing the Nathan storyline in such a weird way then sacking him off 2 weeks later? It's like they've changed writers and it suits them to have Valerie single? I agree the bucket list will take over but that was a contrived plot device too! I'm overthinking it Line of Duty it is not!

Raahh · 28/05/2021 12:38

doctors I am guilty of over thinking it too Grin.
And the writers do keep changing the character 'personalities'.
Val's never even struck me as much of a drinker. More, of a 'high on life' type. Grin. I mean - Emma getting drunk and binning someone off, whilst telling them they were boring in bed- that I would believe!

EversoDelighted · 28/05/2021 12:57

I seem to have missed the bucket list thing altogether (I don't always pay full attention!). It just seems weird that one minute they are besotted with each other, the next he's dumped.

And yes, totally what Emma would do, but not Val! I am hoping that this doesn't mean that she is going to go travelling and leave the show. When she first joined I hated her but she has grown on. me so much, I was enjoying seeing her happy in her new relationship.

OP posts:
Raahh · 28/05/2021 13:04

Oh, I hated Val too. But she has grown on me Grin. - I think at lot of it has to do with how they changed the Gobby character (after her accident) from a comedic one to a joyless fun sponge, who just mopes around. Everything is now a drama with Gobby- whereas before, despite the drama in her life (and there was quite a bit), there was still light relief.

Pre- amnesia Gobby was much better. Sad.

FuzzyPuffling · 28/05/2021 18:01

I still mourn Geoffrey.

EversoDelighted · 28/05/2021 18:36

Yes, Gobby really did have a complete personality change, she is very annoying now

OP posts:
Raahh · 28/05/2021 19:14

I do appreciate she had a head injury, and lost her memory- so it's not really surprising she is not the same as before- but at the same time, they have changed her so much, she is just not likeable.

I did really feel for her when she was upset at the bake sale though. She is well acted- just annoying Grin

EversoDelighted · 28/05/2021 22:43

Yes, Gobby is well acted, in fact the whole cast are pretty decent actors, it's the characters and plotlines that let them down.

OP posts:
Raahh · 01/06/2021 13:47

I nearly missed this.

Raahh · 01/06/2021 13:48

I could just eat fish and chips right now.

Raahh · 01/06/2021 13:48

With mushy peas.

Raahh · 01/06/2021 13:49

Gobbyplod still being horrible then.
