@DinosaurDiana

Do you think Steve would have taken his waistcoat off if filming in Spain ? 🤣

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 03/05/2021 11:36

yes but if you compare him with Series 4 he looks like he’s been on holiday. It’s not a major point he just looked very healthy for someone in prison
I think that’s as much to do with his quite significant weight loss. He was looking quite hot for a bent lawyer Grin

Its90minutestonight · 03/05/2021 11:41

Jed didn't write Vigil.

Lexilooo · 03/05/2021 11:42

@Dirtystreetpie

Even Den of Geek review says the finale had an extra 30 mins of screen time? Did they accidentally not show the extra 30 mins this evening? Is that why it was shit?
It was 30 minutes longer.

The series was originally 5 one hour episodes with a 90 minute finale. This was changed to 7 one hour episodes, i.e. an extra 30 minutes.

Effectively episode 6 and 7 were the finale part 1 and 2.

weewitch · 03/05/2021 11:44

I've just rewatched it and on second viewing I actually enjoyed it. Think it was a good ending and actually hope they don't do a series 7.

jugglingeverything · 03/05/2021 11:45

I think the whole point was that they were after the big guy, the 4 caddies, H etc. But actually the point was that its a pervasive problem. Its the guys right at the top who just dont care. I think thats why Chloe took down Osbornes picture. They were saying he can't be touched. Its not even that he's the mastermind it just that people like him and carmichael just dont care .

Thinking more overnight and can't decide if Jo double crossed them. She clearly told them fairbanks was her father in return for witness prorection so they charged off but then it wasnt him at the helm. Did she divert them away from Buckles again?....

Also we assume that when they loaded jo into the van and then the production order was forged, that AC12 swoop into the rescue. Thank-God they save her.....

But what if the OCG were actually breaking Jo out of prison! What if it was actually a foiled escape plan and they didnt realise!

Frazzled2207 · 03/05/2021 11:48

going off on a slight tangeant the daily fail is reporting that 'bbc bosses' are trying to get Vicky M on strictly this year. Oh yes! Would love that. But would possibly love Adrian Dunbar in the 'dad category' more .

Ylfa · 03/05/2021 11:48

I did a rewatch too and I so badly want to give Ted some chapstick especially in the Buckells glass box scene - it was an episode of weird lips everywhere wasn’t it?

Ejk80 · 03/05/2021 11:50

I don’t see why Osborne would be untouchable though - Dryden was Deputy Chief Constable and Hilton was Assistant Chief and they went after both of them?

GlassBoxSpectacular · 03/05/2021 11:55

As much as I love Strictly, it’s purely for people who want/need to boost their profile, remind the public they exist, or pay off a tax bill.

I can’t see any of the LOD main cast anywhere near it.

Ylfa · 03/05/2021 11:56

There was nothing directly linking Osborne to any of it though, he was just a morally shit person acting in self interest with no evidence he ever had anything to do with organised crime? I thought that was the whole point of episode 7.

User135644 · 03/05/2021 11:58

So many plot holes in that series (and in turn the previous one).

Why wasn't the missing minutes ever explained after Ryan was shot?

RevolvingPivot · 03/05/2021 11:59

I don't know why but I'm getting so frustrated with the same questions......

There is no H

The show was 1hr as usual

It wasn't Carmichael that spelt definitely wrong.

Obviously the prison officer knew Kate was in the back as the driver and other officer were arrested (and swapped with Steve and Kate).

The dog was not a Dulux dog that's an old English Sheepdog.

'think the whole point was that they were after the big guy, the 4 caddies, H etc. But actually the point was that its a pervasive problem'

Yes I think that is clear. The point is even if there isn't one big baddie to suggest Buckells was behind all the encrypted messages was just too much of a stretch, to be telling Jo to get rid of Kate one minute then shaking like a leaf the next was ridiculous. They needed to have him have a chilling personality change at the end (like Edward Norton in the film Primal Fear) for it to have been believable.

User135644 · 03/05/2021 12:08

@ChocOrange1

Pretty crap ending.

I guess the implication is that Osborne is still corrupt because he allowed Buckells to ride through the ranks, but they should have given us something more concrete there.

I don't know why the Jo Davidson story line was even needed. This whole series was a waste of time. They knew about the "definately" typo at the end of last season, why didn't they do a syntax analysis back then and find out it was Buckells rather than wait for ... what? A fourth misspelling of the same word?

Why did it matter that Jo was Tommy's daughter? Why did it matter that Jo thought Fairbanks was her Dad? Why did Ryan even need to be there if Buckells was already in Jo's team. Waste of time .

If Jo new it was Buckells why did she issue a reg 13 on him earlier in the season?

Why was Buckells stood there terrified when Lakewell was killed? If he was 'the 4th man' he'd have orchestrated the whole thing?

I hate it when shows provide twists that make no sense with what's happened before in the show.

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 03/05/2021 12:09

Something else puzzling me -apologies if already explained and I've missed it- but why did Kate and Jo cover up Kate shooting Ryan? He was out to kill her so why cover that up and let Jo take the blame?

Buggerthebotox · 03/05/2021 12:10

There's no direct evidence to link Osborne to the OCG but I'm betting Rohan was onto something and that's why he resigned/was chucked under a bus. His position as PCC was untenable.

Maybe Osborne genuinely has no direct contact with the OCG themselves but is ignoring the activity he knows is endemic for reasons of self-interest. In a couple years' time he'll have retired.

SoupDragon · 03/05/2021 12:13

as the driver and other officer were arrested (and swapped with Steve and Kate).

I don't get this - weren't Steve and Kate both in the back when they opened the doors and shouted "armed police!" It's been confusing me everytime someone here mentions Steve being in the front.

Buggerthebotox · 03/05/2021 12:13

@theweedonkeyfella that part was clunky but I'm guessing that, although Kate shooting Ryan was justified, there would have to have been an investigation which would have taken time. Can't think of another reason!

Milkywaystars · 03/05/2021 12:13

With the extra 30 minutes filler time, Jed could have tied up the loose ends. There was time to explore side stories and explained them. Instead, it was padded out with nonsense and the time not used wisely.

Kelvingrove · 03/05/2021 12:14

I loved the ending.

I was worried that Ted would be OCG but he confessed and explained his error to Kate and Steve and then to Carmichael so he can be forgiven.

Steve and Kate are both honest and back to trusting each other which is just as it should be.

None of the main characters were killed.

Steve ( and Kate) seem to be getting some help from Occupational Health so hopefully Steve can fully recover from his injuries.

Terry and Jo have promising futures.

Carmichael looked ashamed and thoughtful after Teds speech so there is a glimmer of hope for anti corruption.

I loved the final scene in the lift with the three travelling together.

GlassBoxSpectacular · 03/05/2021 12:15

If Jo new it was Buckells why did she issue a reg 13 on him earlier in the season?

She didn’t know it was him.

Which makes it hard to fathom what she gave AC-12 in return for the chocolate box cottage and glossy ‘Sunday supplement’ witness protection set-up at the end. Hmm

SophieB100 · 03/05/2021 12:16

@SoupDragon
I just watched it again - Steve was in the front, Kate in the back. Definately Wink

LaganinaBubble · 03/05/2021 12:16

I'm not sure how I feel this morning, in one way I was very disappointed with last night's episode but I think after mulling it over it makes sense.

Steve was in the front. Sitting next to the hatchet-faced pantomime prison guard.
