Finally seen and read al 800 + comments on both threads since 9pm

I’ve always said there will be a s7

And tonight’s episode proves this

Was a bit crap. Unlike lod :(

Buckells. Really ? As the big H

I don’t believe he is the one left

S7 will come back as needing ac 12 so the 3 will be back

Why didn’t anyone look at Terry’s phone

And jo gets the country mansion and not a little 2 up and down

Loving Thr dog tho

unique1986 · 02/05/2021 23:37

I dont get the covid thing. They resumed filming last September or whatver and in filming bubble and testing every other day etc.
I wasnt aware of 2 meters between them.
So not sure why covid would make the scenes or script weak?

OhWhyNot · 02/05/2021 23:38

I know this series has been more political and I’ve enjoyed that being bought in

But it’s entertainment not a documentary. And this episode just wasn’t entertaining didn’t even have any Ted lines in

We watched it because it was exciting and entertaining and full of drama and suspense not because it was giving the public a lesson on how corrupt institutions are (we know this)

GlassBoxSpectacular · 02/05/2021 23:38

@Its90minutestonight

I don't get the love for The Shield. I thought it was crap.
Me too. It was recommended to me as I loved The Wire.

It was one of the most cliched things I’ve ever seen. Think I managed 2 or 3 episodes then refused to sit through another one.

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 02/05/2021 23:38

I don't get the warmth toward Jo, all that 'we know you're not bent' etc - she lured Kate to her planned murder, set up her former partner by planting evidence in her home, thought she was manipulating Buckles... she certainly wasn't honest!

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/05/2021 23:38

@tedsletterofthelaw / Think you said this

They got info out of him without having to give him immunity and witness protection. If he failed to answer the question - no witness protection. If he admitted to conspiracy - no immunity. They cornered him

So very true. Stalemate. Either wag he was fucked

Well later ac12

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 02/05/2021 23:39

I was glad Terry got a nice happily ever after though.

Stormer · 02/05/2021 23:41

Nice to get another laugh by way of an appearance from the Evil Prison Guards direct from central casting.

I didn't mind it being Buckles but I didn't like the way it was done. The argument being put forward by A-12 was that he was incompetent rather than calculating. But he couldn't have got away with all of that without being calculating (never mind the plot holes regarding some of the things he was able to do).

The resulting character they ended up with was a forced mashup of two different parts and it didn't work. I wanted him to be greedy and lazy and calculating but hiding under a cloak of put on incompetency. I thought when he was saying "no comment" it was powerful. I didn't buy when he cracked and turned. And what was that am-dram like "rhubarb rhubarb rhubarb" fake chatting to his solicitor about? Grin Some weak writing/directing/acting.

unique1986 · 02/05/2021 23:41

Political is not entertaining for me either.
I prefer character driven.

DragonMuff · 02/05/2021 23:44

For me it wasn’t even the reveal - it would have been fine for it to be Buckells if it had been done well but it just fell flat

Agreed - I didn’t necessarily need a twist, as there were only a few candidates to be H and none would be a surprise. But maybe a bit more excitement in how they went about it. Maybe a few more layers to the interview, like the Interviews of old where bit by bit AC-12’a questioning entraps the interviewee.

I also was really not at all enjoying Steve and Kate quizzing Ted at that critical moment. It just didn’t sit right.

I did think the prison van scene was good.

I be would have liked to know more about why kate ran off with Jo - I thought that would be revisited. In fact generally why Kate, who is normally very hard nosed and suspicious, seemed blinded by Jo’s obviously bent behaviour.

I would have liked to know more about why Jo framed Farida.

I have been gripped by previous final LOD episodes and I just wasn’t here. All that happened was they found out Buckells spelt definitely wrong twice, which would be laughed out of court, and then he basically sat in the interview room and admitted it, without a clever undoing of him by their questioning.

I would definitely still watch season 7 but I found myself a little bored by that.

Weeedonkey · 02/05/2021 23:45

Why was Buckles a shaky milk spilling wreck one minute and an arrogant calculating mastermind the next?

GlassBoxSpectacular · 02/05/2021 23:45

@Zandathepanda

I can’t remember why Ted was given that money last series? Didn’t he say something about selling a property in the Cayman Islands. Then wasn’t there a Cayman Islands reference tonight as well?
Ted entered into a doomed property development with a former colleague (Moffat, I think). He lost his investment but Moffat gave him £100k as some form of compensation.

However the development was in Ireland, iirc: Kettle Bell, I believe it was called.

GlassBoxSpectacular · 02/05/2021 23:48

And what was that am-dram like "rhubarb rhubarb rhubarb" fake chatting to his solicitor about?

Oh, I proper LOLed at that! As if they wouldn’t have heard him - the table wasn’t exactly massive!

LadyEloise · 02/05/2021 23:48

Was Jed Mercurio just saying at the end that there will always be police corruption, that it's the way of the world ?

LizzieMacQueen · 02/05/2021 23:52

Was it really Carl Banks who killed Gail then? Because I thought the way the OCGs operated was to fit people up - so they took a pair of gloves with Carl Banks' fingerprints and planted them in that box with the gun.

Weeedonkey · 02/05/2021 23:55

Smug people on Twitter now saying that if you don’t get the ending you just don’t understand life/politics/the state of the world can do one!

I don’t want a realistic drama with political commentary I wanted escapism and the good guys catching the bad guys and yes it’s a ‘Hollywood ending’ but I wanted it because I wanted to escape the dreariness of the news and reality this and wanted all those bad eggs to get their comeuppance.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 03/05/2021 00:00

I at least hope Chloe got a pay rise.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 03/05/2021 00:01

@CheekyWeeShite - Suranne Jones - thank you!

OhWhyNot · 03/05/2021 00:01

I guess those smug posters on Twitter also believe that so many police are murdered by their colleagues who then chop them up and get rid of their bodies and all evidence

How many deaths have their been a few incidents it’s been at least two have died in one shoot out

We don’t have this level of violence in the UK but it was bloody exciting to watch

Until this week that is

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 03/05/2021 00:01

Breaking Bad had an excellent finale. It's what elevated the show to its legendary status. Line of Duty's terrible final episode may well taint the entire series, à is Lost or GOT, which would be a shame. Series 1-3 were excellent. Perhaps they should have left it with Dot's (urgent) exit.

EvilOnion · 03/05/2021 00:04

But more importantly.

If Buckles really was the 4th man they were looking for the whole time does that mean he really did sext about his helmet and trunshon???

Weeedonkey · 03/05/2021 00:06

I know! Kate hanging off a moving truck anyone? 🤣

Just because you like a crap ending about political commentary, doesn’t make you clever 🤭😄

GillBiggeloesHair · 03/05/2021 00:06

Well none of the three died so I suppose that's something to be grateful for.

Also, I just saw in the Sunderland Echo from a few days ago that Laura Elphinstone ( Poundland Kate) was in the cast list for tonight's ep.

WTF?

"The last episode in the latest series of Line of Duty will welcome back a Sunderland actor as her character makes a fresh appearance in the hit drama."

youvegottenminuteslynn · 03/05/2021 00:06

@BeaLola

I wanted it to be Jo by the end - final scene showing her in Witness protection and then putting files/something away, making a call which makes you realise it's her - she's her Fathers daughter and made them all believe she was coerced when really she was orchestrating it all
This would have been excellent!!
EsmaCannonball · 03/05/2021 00:09

Breaking Bad felt like a show that had been sketched out right from the very beginning. The last two series of Line of Duty (and aspects of series 4) have felt very much made up on the back of a fag packet.
