@Whatsnewpussyhat

Julie's top was really well sewn, she clearly has more skill than others just a shame she didn't finish.
It was the lining, I think. If only she'd thought about it sooner.

@Maireas

In Carrickfergus, Yoda relaxes for another week.
I think Yoda could end up a sleeker kitty than he is now if his mammy stays in for a few weeks. I’m sorry Yoda, but you are a tad porky.

Lots of them with cute cats (and very cute children) .

It would have been a stunning dress, that fabric was perfect. It’s a shame she also mucked up on the middle challenge, I think that was the final nail.

Farie's and Lawratu's kids - gorgeous.
It all got a bit emosh. I hope they relax a bit next week.

Cocolapew · 14/04/2021 22:10

If Yoda goes out dressed in a bowtie and romper in Carrick I hope he's good at fighting..

viques you are correct, he is an indulged pet - the bowtie alone speaks volumes.

Winniewonka · 14/04/2021 22:12

Julie needs her own show! She has a voice straight out of a Victoria Wood sketch and I say that as a fellow Northerner.

I can imagine that the local felines would target him.

He'll just stare the other cats down.

He looked well fed up.

Haggisfish · 14/04/2021 22:14

Loved it! Bloody phone wasn’t plugged
Into charge so couldn’t live chat about it. Pah. Will be here next week!

Iamtooknackeredtorun · 14/04/2021 22:17

Jean's was fabulous and I loved her model and her beautiful hair.

Also loved Lawratu's dress. In fact I'd buy that if it was available.

Serena is clearly very talented.

I love the diversity of this programme. It's great to see older women getting some air time too.

I feel for Julie. No way could I produce anything decent in the time given and I've been sewing for 40 years, on and off.

Popfan · 14/04/2021 22:26

Checking in for next week... I have no idea why I love this programme so much as I can barely sew on a button! I liked all the contestants and was a great start!!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 14/04/2021 22:26

I would wear Jean's dress if I was going to a summer barbecue, I thought it had lovely movement.

PickAChew · 14/04/2021 22:30

Got a good giggle out of that guardian article. 😂

EATmum · 14/04/2021 22:30

Lawratu's dress was stunning. Off to search for the fabric ...

Binglebong · 14/04/2021 22:32

I thought the white one name a fabulous peplum top.

Voice0fReason · 14/04/2021 22:39

Damien got away with that - just. But he won't last long. He can't read a pattern properly and he lacks creativity.

That red crotch was hilarious - what was she thinking!

Never heard of a buffet dress - definitely not my thing!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 14/04/2021 22:49

I thought Julie shouldn't have lined the dress, the model could have just put a slip on underneath. She also chose to line it in the exact white of the outer fabric, so the broderie pattern didn't even show up on the bodice. The other broderie anglaise dress didn't have lining, and there was a chiffon dress without lining too.

Nith · 14/04/2021 23:22

I felt very sorry for Farie, but I did wonder how on earth she managed to do so very little, given that others managed to complete some pretty complex dresses.

SimonJT · 15/04/2021 06:25

That was a very good first episode, its good to have it back. We know Raphy, so it was lovely to see him do so well as he has had to keep everything a secret for a long time.

@SoupDragon

I love Joe.
Me too. He's a delight and one of the reasons I love the sewing bee even more. He comes across as warm, funny and supportive. Just the sort of presenter we need. Won't hear a bad word against him.
Anne1958 · 15/04/2021 07:25

There were some lovely dresses on there this evening.

HeronLanyon · 15/04/2021 07:40

I didn’t know joe Lycett at all before sewing bee and still haven’t seen him doing anything else. After about 5 mins thinking ‘who is this ?’ Ive absolutely loved him.

Am I going mad or did Claudia winkleman have that role in early series ? Loved her also.
