Landed yesterday. I'm liking it... 🙂

Ps apologies if there's already a thread on this. Just had a wee look and couldn't find.

Just watching episode 2 now, seems good

GinJeanie · 13/03/2021 19:17

Had really good review on Front Row.
Jeez, imagine if the grass really was greener and your "6" (on the dice) was out there. I'd stick with my 5 I think! 😊

Just started watching it! I've read the book that is really good!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 13/03/2021 21:14

I've watched it all. Enjoyed it but it seemed similar in premise to Soulmates which I watched about a month or so ago?

mrsmacmc · 13/03/2021 21:15

Yes! On ep 3 and it's interesting and intriguing 🧐

outnumbered77 · 13/03/2021 23:01

Yes, the book was great. This seems to have different story lines though.

mnahmnah · 13/03/2021 23:03

Not watched it it yet, but interesting fact - the lead woman is Jessie Ware’s sister

jay55 · 14/03/2021 12:43

I watched it. I felt like it just got going and then stopped.
I think I'd have preferred it in normal time not with flashbacks.

Agree parts were very similar to soulmates.

rosegoldwatcher · 14/03/2021 18:02

Watching it but preferred the plot in the book.

ThatOtherPoster · 14/03/2021 18:04

I tried to like it but I didn’t. I should LOVE it, but the main woman really irritates me. Her character isn’t likeable at all, and her acting is flat.

I agree. It kept me watching but Rebecca was so unlikeable and was played slightly oddly by Hannah Ware adopting a strange robotic way - and morphing from cash strapped, friendly scientist to super evil, money grabbing, psychopath billionaire within 18 months - that I was put off.
Wearethetwirl · 15/03/2021 04:34

*robotic way of speaking

IHaveBrilloHair · 15/03/2021 04:37

I gave up after two eps, and I'd been really looking forward to it as I enjoyed the book.

icelollycraving · 15/03/2021 13:05

Just finished it. Passed the time whilst ironing Smile

GloriousGoosebumps · 15/03/2021 19:41

I've just binge watched the series and enjoyed it. It probably helped that I hadn't read the book so couldn't compare the two. As a pp said, Rebecca is unlikeable and I think Hannah Bailey is the sort of idiot who shouldn't be allowed out alone. I loved the shots of the Barbican and the flat. The ebook is reasonably priced so I may download it tonight.

ItsIgginningtolooklikelockdown · 17/03/2021 23:22

Ive watched this and Soulmates. I'd have liked more or a discussion about what it means to be "the one" - I think someone genetically perfect for you but who had totally different life experiences to yours could be less well matched than someone you had a shared history with. What someone has done in their life surely shapes how you would feel about them. I wondered what Rebecca would do next.
Can you imagine the aibu - aibu to secretly find out my dh's soulmate so I can test his love for me.
The series Soulmates was a lot darker, I didn't warm to it.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 19/03/2021 09:22

Soulmates was very dark indeed!

I know that hormone chemistry is very significant in determining who we are attracted to (or not) initially but that doesn't necessarily make someone a perfect love partner fit long-term does it?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 19/03/2021 09:23

And as the season denouement would suggest there's no way forward for another series, why not stick more closely to the plots of the book upon which the drama is based?

Bee0808 · 19/03/2021 09:34

I enjoyed it but...
Surely people share their genes with siblings/parents.
Is that why Kate was attracted to Sophias brother? And vice versa?
I made the link but not sure if that was the point?
Also, why was the scientist guy still having ANYTHING to do with Rebecca? She wanted her goon to shoot him!?
I haven't read the book...perhaps both my questions are answered in it?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 19/03/2021 10:44

Yes, that was my take on the premise, re Kate's attraction to Sophia's brother @Bee0808. That could potentially make for some very awkward/life-changing family dynamics though!!!

Bee0808 · 19/03/2021 10:49

Ah! Good.
Glad it wasn't just me:)
Lordy...imagine the Xmas get togethers! Tres awkward 😅

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 19/03/2021 11:00

But by that token shouldn't Rebecca have had similar feelings for her love interest's brother??? Although I seem to recall when they first met at the party he implied he was attracted to her?

Bee0808 · 19/03/2021 11:04

Yes, in the bar in tenerife definitely.

Mooserp · 19/03/2021 12:12

The book is completely different - it follows the stories of several different people who get matched and what happens next. Don't want to give any more away.

There's no backstory with evil Rebecca.

Mooserp · 19/03/2021 12:14

Assuming we can mention spoilers here...

In the last episode where we see what happened with Ben going into the river - that seemed very familiar to me, I'm sure I've seen something like that revealed at the end of a story recently. Anyone else?
