Anyone watching The One on Netflix?

I read the book a while ago and it’s very different!!
Hannah was so annoying
Rebecca was evil
Looked like you could be matched w siblings, yes. Don’t remember that in book. Annoyingly I got it in kindle library so can’t check!

I did like it but there were some big gaps - not least of all when she gets back in the car after the bloody killing her tshirt does NOT have a drop of blood on it.

Why did they have Rebecca playing it as someone said up thread, so robotically?

I don't know the actress but it seems she cannot act for toffee? Surely on the first day of filming the director should have said "What the fuck are you doing??". So painful to listen to and sooo annoying.

Well yes, she kind of did have a personality transplant as represented by her having a makeover to become a different person. Making her choice to be a ruthless business woman and make a success of the business at all costs, and to deal with what had happened, she had to shut herself down emotionally and become more robotic.

I enjoyed it but so many questions.

Why is there only one (or occasionally two if siblings) match for everyone? More likely there'd be a pool, surely?

What are the odds of your perfect match being alive at the same time as you? What if they're 90 and you're 20? What if they were born 500 years before you, or won't be born for another 500 years? Sucks to be you? This must be the case for many people.

What if your match is a horrible or dangerous person? No liability for the company / lawsuits?

Why did James have anything to do with Rebecca after she had him beaten up and tried to have him shot?

Why did the world's worst bodyguard still have a job after failing to notice and stop the knife-wielding murderous stalker?

Why did policewoman Kate not pause for thought when she found out her match was a pathological liar and serial cheat?

Why was Hannah so bloody annoying?!

Watched the first episode today - what I want to know is how it works if someone is your "One" (the one you are guaranteed to fall in love with forever) but you aren't their "One" - and they don't fall in love with you?

I'm watching it. It really is a bit rubbish and Rebecca is just a bad actress. Hannah is annoying. And there are alot of plot holes - your one could be a different age to you, someone based in deepest darkest baluchistan who hasn't had their dna recorded anywhere, or even someone quite ugly.

Anyway, I'm quite enjoying it. And the Tenerife guy is easy on the eye. Apart from his droopy porny moustache.

Dear God the lead woman is one of the of the worst actors I've ever seen. I'm finding aspects of the story/characters a bit nonsensical, is it worth continuing?

I really don't want to be one of those people who bleat on about the book, but it really is so much better, and makes sense.
It's a quickish read too.
I can't believe what a mess they made of the TV show.

Just finished watching it (haven't read the book). I enjoyed it, and would watch a second season if only to find out what happens with Megan finding out stupid Hannah's match.

I thought Rebecca was supposed to be quite robotic and unemotional by choice, but she wasn't all that much looser in the flashback bits so who really knows.

Just finished this. It was awful. But it's lockdown and it was something dh would watch with me. Both of us got annoyed.

Why did Ben's body not immediately float to the shore, or if weighed down did the police not say so?

At the start they say he was dead before he hit the water, but at the end he coughs and she pushes him in.

Blonde detective MO: go to a funeral to shit talk Rebecca Webb. I just kept going "no one would do any of this".

She had the case well sewn up so they randomly introduced a bent copper to derail it. Then he just as randomly fucked off on paternity leave.

Bald guy was clearly going to go berserk at some point. Why did he stab matteus then melt away? Bodyguard pretty useless.

The bodyguard suddenly developed deep prison contacts to have him killed.

Plus why was blonde detective at the prison? Is there a tenuous connection to Rebecca Webb hotline?

Don't get me started on the pointlessness of the story with the couple.

I was saying to dh what if your match was 70 and you were 20, or same sex if you were straight, or had died etc. He told me to stop analysing it so deeply.
Obv it would never happen so we just have to suspend belief.

It was all over the place

The acting was dreadful and the drone of Rebecca was almost unbearable

I much preferred soulmates which reminded me more of black mirror which I love

I can see how Rebecca had a major personality change after she murdered Ben, and became detached and cold..but omg she really is the worst actress... Every line she delivered was painful and cringy. She wasn't much better before Bens death.

I quite enjoyed the storyline line, although the part where they paid off the policeman to get hold of the evidence was pretty lame.

I agree with pp who wants to see what happens with stupid Hannahs match!
