Is anyone else a crying mess within 5 minutes!??

Anystarinthesky · 02/02/2021 01:15

I am too!

So moving, the son tonight looked so like his father.

ursuslemonade · 02/02/2021 01:25

I don't think I've ever watched an episode without crying.

MrsDThomas · 02/02/2021 12:37

Always. And I tell myself im not watching as its hurtful.

I found out that my mum was forced to give up a son she had out if wedlock 2 years before i was born. She never told me and i found out after she died after he made contact.

So many people suffered.

Pebbledashery · 02/02/2021 13:20

I kept crying when the woman in last nights episode kept crying. It was heart breaking. So glad she found her mum. The adoptive parents were so lovely too.

Pebbledashery · 02/02/2021 13:21

@mrsdthomas oh that's so sad :( do you have a relationship with him now?

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 02/02/2021 13:27

I loved the adoptive parents last night. So happy and supportive. All that stuff in Sri Lanka and coming home none the wiser but lovely update.

The only thing that bothers me slightly is that Davina goes round to the house and doesn't tell them the minute they opened the door 'We've found him/her!, and here's a photo!' but I guess that's for the audience as they know and they are about to see them be told and it's always lovely.

Sparklingbrook · 02/02/2021 13:30

And adding to that when they are told by the production company 'Davina's coming around with the film crew' if they've watched the programme they'll know it's likely their relative has been found?
Setting up all the sound/cameras/lighting while they wait anxiously for news?

Pebbledashery · 02/02/2021 13:30

Davina annoys me generally but she's very understated and reigns her presenting style back a lot in LLF.

OP posts:
Pebbledashery · 02/02/2021 13:31

Nicky does all the donkey work and she gets to tell them the good news.. Hardly seems fair 😂

Sparklingbrook · 02/02/2021 13:33

She used to annoy me (shouty presenting days) but now I am a big fan. Shock She does a podcast with her boyfriend and has a YouTube channel which is really positive and she comes across as really lovely and down to earth.
I think she's just right in LLF, and when she hugs them it's heartfelt.

Sparklingbrook · 02/02/2021 13:34

Yes, I thought that but IIRC they said in an interview they both like it that way Grin

Neither of them went to Sri Lanka did they? Sad

imonyourway · 02/02/2021 13:35

Nicky gets all the trips abroad - we were laughing at his 'yippee, I'm in Australia' face last night Smile

MrsDThomas · 02/02/2021 13:36

@Pebbledashery not a relationship really, lives 3 hours away. We’ve met a few times, keep in touch Christmas/birthdays, met at a cousin’s wedding. After 9 years i still find it odd, but hurt that mum didn’t tell me, but dad (who knew from the off) said it hurt mum to think about him.

Happy to know that mum and dad met him a couple of times. He visited the 1st time a few hours before they were to leave on holiday and id just been to the house and he was sitting in the car and saw me leave.

Pebbledashery · 02/02/2021 13:37

Yes I like her in LLF she's very compassionate. Can't stand her in anything else.

OP posts:
Pebbledashery · 02/02/2021 13:38

No I didn't see them go to Sri Lanka. It was so lovely that they found her grandmother too 😭

ajandjjmum · 02/02/2021 13:39

TBF I doubt either of them does the real donkey work! Grin

I know that Nicky Campbell was adopted, which must really give him a connection with this programme. Just wondering if Davina was too?

Sparklingbrook · 02/02/2021 13:39

She's quite excitable in The Masked Singer but I think that's a requirement. Grin The podcast and YouTube channel are interesting and informative. She talks a lot about the menopause and keeping young.
treeeeemendous · 02/02/2021 13:41

@ajandjjmum I don't think Davina was adopted but I am sure that she was abandoned by her birth mum. I think she left her with her dad and disappeared type thing.

52andblue · 02/02/2021 13:43

I think it is well done. It doesn't appear to exploit the subjects like most 'reality shows'. Nicky himself was adopted and Davina's Mum left when she was 3 and she went to live with her grandparents. I think it gives them some insight and I think the 'show' such as it is is quite well done.

Some times it is painful to see the abandoned child still not receiving much love from the elderly parent but sometimes it's really heartwarming. As it is real people in RL sometimes they are found and happily 'move on' and sometimes less so.

Sparklingbrook · 02/02/2021 13:44

Davina was brought up by her Grandmother after her Mum and Dad split up. I think her Mum had a few problems maybe drink related.

Sparklingbrook · 02/02/2021 13:45

I have noticed that there's quite a few participants and family members who 'don't want to appear on camera' on LLF and I can understand that.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 02/02/2021 13:45

I think her mum had drink/drug problems.

I find it amazing that people are willing to go on TV and publicly go through such an emotional thing.

I'm adopted and my DDs keep saying they will write in to the programme ... there's no way I could do it!!

Pebbledashery · 02/02/2021 13:54

I just love the adoptive parents.. Honestly. What a wonderful thing to do. I love knowing they've had good lives with their adoptive parents and the adoptive parents are OK with them finding their birth mothers or fathers. The man on the show last night broke my heart too.. You could visibly see a part of him was missing having had to forcibly give his son up :(
I think its such a wonderful program its done so respectfully.

I suppose in some cases that's their final hope of finding their missing family member, and knowing that you'll only have the exposure if they are found, makes it a risk worth taking?

WhatsErFace2020 · 02/02/2021 15:19

I personally know of someone contacted by the show to be reunited with their LLost child. It didn’t get aired as he didn’t want to appear on the show - BUT the production company still facilitated the meeting etc and provided after support. It made me love the show even more to know they do this off air too for no entertainment purposes - heart warming it really is!

I cry at every episode too 🤣😂
