Bereft finishing the West Wing, what next?

I have just two episodes left of the West Wing and am distraught! I have adored every minute. Can anyone recommend anything to fill the void? I'm after something with well drawn characters you grow to love, nothing with loads of death or gore, or too tense at the moment.
Other things I've loved have been Suits, Bodies, line of duty (though that might be too tense for me currently), House of Cards, hospital ones like Grays Anatomy/ER but find they get a bit formulaic after a while, No Angels. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the ER recommendation
I am hooked

Six Feet Under. American family whose business is a funeral home. One of my favourite telly shows ever, better than the WW IMO.
The Legacy (Danish family drama).
Ride Upon the Storm (as above; I like a bit of Scandi!)

I came on to say The Good Wife and saw a few people have said that, there's also a spin off from that, The Good Fight but I haven't had chance to watch that one yet.

BrieAndChilli · 03/02/2021 14:24

not quite the same but I;m watching Brothers and Sisters the moment - easy going and no gore etc.

New Amsterdam is a hosptial drama on prime i think

The Blacklist

IntermittentParps · 03/02/2021 17:16

I didn't think The Good Fight was all that great. Thinks it's really edgy and daring but is just a bit silly. Pity because it has great female characters, nice clothes etc, like The Good Wife.

LizzieMacQueen · 03/02/2021 17:33

I started watching the Boss with Kelsey Grammar last weekend (Prime). I think that'd be a good sub for the West Wing.

I can't see it on all4? Is it gone? Shock

BiddyPop · 03/02/2021 19:33

Does anyone know where the Good Wife is streaming these days?

wizzbangfizz · 03/02/2021 19:49

Placemarking

Go right back to the beginning and start again!

I rewatch every six months or so. Nothing else comes close.

fluckityfluckfluck · 06/02/2021 07:39

Why can't I see it? Can anyone help

RaelImperialAerosolKid · 06/02/2021 09:14

I'm on the last few episodes- I think I'll go back to the beginning and watch along with the podcast.
I would love to see a new series with Sam as president- the scene where he and President Bartlett where playing chess did mention that San would make a good one.

ScienceSensibility · 06/02/2021 11:57

fluckity are you on Sky?

Apparently there is some glitch whereby Sky viewers can’t see all of the options for All4. I am one of those and when I asked this question a while ago, this was the answer. So annoying!

Tinseltrauma · 06/02/2021 16:12

@fluckityfluckfluck I have to cast from my iPad, All4 doesn't seem to have it on the tv menu, I don't know why!

LizzieMacQueen · 06/02/2021 16:29

@fluckityfluckfluck I see it on all4 and I don't have Sky. Have you searched for it on All4?

I can’t decide whether The Newsroom or The West Wing my favourite ...

How have I missed Studio 60 for more Sorkin, and where can I watch it?

Chasingsquirrels · 06/02/2021 17:42

Also came on to say;
Madam Secretary.
Designated Survivor (Madam Secretary is better though).

Unforgotten (Netflix, maybe iPlayer?)

Timeless (Netflix - Sci-fic about timetable).

The Last Kingdom (Netflix, Anglo-Saxon drama based on Bernard Cornwall book). Scratch that, you said not death & gore.

Chasingsquirrels · 06/02/2021 17:42

Timeless (Netflix - Sci-fic about timetravel).

Chasingsquirrels · 06/02/2021 17:44

Line of Duty (promoted by another thread title in Telly addicts).

ValancyRedfern · 06/02/2021 18:07

West Wing and Mad Men are my two favourite series ever, so if you haven't watched Mad Men, then definitely that!
