Rich Holiday, Poor Holiday

Anyone watching on Five?

I am feeling really sorry for the Poor family. Single mum of three and her mum who looks after the DS with ASD.
They’ve sent them Germany to live in a tree house. No sun, no sand, no palm trees. So far they’ve had a petting zoo experience and an indoor water park, which lets face it is probably what they save up for in the Uk.

Rich family are nice. They seem to appreciate just how good having money is.

Ooo didn't know it was on tonight, I'll have to watch on catch up. Seems pretty shit though that they haven't got a proper far away destination type holiday Confused

Sparklingbrook · 31/01/2021 21:43

I am a bit confused. is the German treehouse thing the usual holiday the rich family would go on? Confused I don't like the rich family much-especially the dog kennel comment.

Justmuddlingalong · 31/01/2021 21:45

Was it filmed during lockdown?

Sparklingbrook · 31/01/2021 21:46

Not sure, the shop assistant was wearing a visor but not seen anyone in a mask.

Toomanycats99 · 31/01/2021 21:48

After the first ever one when they went on safari they never seem to send them on exotic destinations. Last season there was a chateau to themselves in France.

I think from a kids perspective though that treehouse stay is probably amazing. I splashed out and took my DD for a night glamping at a safari park and they loved it! I have a treehouse at blackberry wood on my wish list but can't afford 2 nights which is usual minimum booking!

Last weeks if you haven't seen it was good......2 guys sent on a work for your keep gram holiday and having to make rabbit poo fertiliser......

welcometo2021 · 31/01/2021 21:48

I think the rich family are coming across awful! Doesn't look like they actually ever spend any time together

Justmuddlingalong · 31/01/2021 21:48

The rich family love Cancun in Mexico. The treehouse is nice but Christ, what a disappointment for the poor family.

Sparklingbrook · 31/01/2021 21:58

How did the treehouse holiday cost £7000? Confused

Mixingitall · 31/01/2021 22:02

@Toomanycats99, are you following blackberry wood on Facebook? Occasionally they advertise single nights on there.

Thewinterofdiscontent · 31/01/2021 22:03

Oh is this a repeat - looks like a French chateau next week?

£7,000k!! I can see that’s there’s a market for a cutesy tree house but clearly it was aimed at families with much younger children.
Didn’t appear to be anything to do in the evenings either except sit in a rustic hot tub or a weird empty dining room. Such a shame as mum and Nan get no time off back home.

@Mixingitall

I do but haven't managed to get one yet! They had a couple last summer but couldn't get through to them in time - I work full time so it's also trying to get one that works with time off. Hopefully I will have better luck this summer.

Mixingitall · 31/01/2021 22:33

Fingers crossed that you do!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 01/02/2021 19:15

I’m intrigued as to how they made a fortune inventing a hair restoring product!

I would have been soooo disappointed if I was the poor family. Nothing luxurious about that holiday!

JaneNorman · 01/02/2021 19:40

I thought the rich family came across alright in the end. They said they’d enjoyed their week and really reminded them that it’s spending family time together that’s important. It had taught their kids how lucky they are and to appreciate what they have.

And the German place looked pretty cool to me. I can easily see how that was £7k all in if it was in the school holidays. Flights alone were probably best part of £1500. And tree houses are always expensive.

Not all holidays have to be on a beach!

Have you seen the price of the treehouses at centreparcs? They are about 4k in summer holidays I think Shock
Orchidflower1 · 01/02/2021 19:47

The rich mum had a mask on when she went to the shop so probably filmed sept Last yearx

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2021 19:52

Blimey @WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo 😮 If was going to spend 7K on a holiday I’d want luxury not a tree house and a petting zoo.

It’s cool if it’s something different to your normal hotel but the Poor family gave never been in holiday and the mum and gran never got time away from the kids. This was their one chance and they get chilly Germany and a kids play park. Even if the flight was 1.5k you can still get to a swanky resort in Greece or the South of France for that too. And not have to keep your coat on all holiday.

We watched it and thought the same! We often go on caravan holidays (and enjoy it!) but the treehouse place looked like Bewilderwood plus hot tubs (I'd hate it because I was imagining how many spiders there would be! Blush) and the swimming pool/water park looked ot that different to ones weve been to at a reasonably priced french campsite!
I'm always a bit Hmm when the rich family are doing their budget shopping and always go to a campsite shop or corner shop, which usually only sell branded things and are known for being expensive. Theres a Morrisons in Cromer, she could have gone there and probably got loads more shopping!
We enjoyed last weeks one where the rich friends discovered cheesy chips !Grin

BigSandyBalls2015 · 08/02/2021 13:14

Did anyone see last nights?

Sparklingbrook · 08/02/2021 13:21

DH put it on but then deemed it boring. He was sulking about the LFC score though. Is it worth a watch?

BigSandyBalls2015 · 08/02/2021 13:26

I’m watching it now ... I think your DH is right Smile.

Exhausteddog · 08/02/2021 14:42

I watched it last night and didnt find it as good as some of the others. I was impressed that the rich guys got stuck in, and didnt complain too much until they cheated but one of them was full of apprentice style soundbites which was slightly off putting
