Apologies if there is another thread already, I can't find one.
Wasn't the ending odd? I thought our telly had broken, or that E4 had messed it up at first.
Can't believe there won't be any more EVER!

but i did like the ending
but
was it all of them that bought or just T?

id did do thread lastnight no one b othered! irrc

policywonk · 29/10/2007 20:29

Can you tell me what happened please? This thread is not spoiler-heavy enough for my liking. Bear in mind that I stopped watching in Season 3, so I only want the big print version (ie, who died and who killed 'em). Ta

Feenie · 29/10/2007 20:46

Bloody hell, policy, that would be far too complicated! But Silvio was on life support at the end, not expected to recover, and Bobby got whacked. There was a weird scene at the end with the 4 main Sopranos in the family at a restaurant, obviously about to get hit, but it ended with a big blank screen before anything happened.

Lakota · 29/10/2007 20:58

There are a lot of discussions elsewhere in cyberspace on this - but the general consensus is that Tony is whacked, hence everything just going black and silent. Bobby says to Tony at some point "You probably don't even hear it when it happens".

Such a brilliant programme...

LOOBYLOU2 · 29/10/2007 20:59

I was a bit disappointed tbh ...
You were only left with a feeling the guy from the counter was shady and he was going after Tony. And the stuff with Meadow and the car .... I kept thinking she was going to walk in and find her Dad shot or was she going to get it????
We have been having problems with the sound on our tv so I thought it was that until the advert for the dvd's
I have loved this series from the very beginning and in an article I read David Chase intimated that the ending would answer a lot of questions and issues ... well I am missing something here because it left a lot of questions unanswered to me .. ie the FBI links

policywonk · 29/10/2007 21:00

Sorry, I didn't mean that I wanted details of all the deaths from Season 3 until now. (There probably isn't enough room on the MN server.) Just the deaths in the last ep! Thanks.

Feenie · 29/10/2007 21:02

True, Lakota, and they repeated Bobby saying that at the beginning, didn't they??
Damn, no at home with the Sopranos Christmas special then.....

Yeah inexplicably (bit like Billy Bob Thornton crush) I think there is something about Tony Soprano ...

Bainmarie · 29/10/2007 21:43

pw you missed yourself..

so, what is the consensus, all 4 or just T???

i thought the whole family actually and the music, well no music was poignant and RIP at the end
also like though that you can think it was tony
only too
or is that cop out?

thought phil leotardo getting whacked was fantastic iykwim portend of things to come

classic show

policywonk · 29/10/2007 22:59

eh? I read feenie's post with the explanation, if that's what you mean. Sorry, can see how my second post looked like another request...

HairyIrene · 29/10/2007 23:05

crossed wires i think pw

i just meant 'you missed yourself' as in you should've watched it!

and there is an ambiguity over ending for me..i mean i beleive he was whacked, either with his family watching or they were whacked with him..

dollyk · 29/10/2007 23:08

I am gutted its over, a film of it would be good but everyone in it has been killed so it could be past or future

policywonk · 29/10/2007 23:10

Oh, you're talking Northern. Let me get my ear-trumpet.

I'm not sure what to think really. I stopped watching it basically because of all the Bada Bing soft-porn action, which really started to get my goat. There was one episode in particular, about one of the Bada Bing strippers who was going out with one of the guys (Ralphie?) who was a complete psycho (for want of better word), and he ended up beating her to death in a car park after much pornographic action lovingly shot by the episode's director (don't know whether it was David Chase or someone else). It made me so fuckin' angry that I wanted to smash the telly to bits with my bare hands, so I decided that it might be best if I just stopped watching! However, so many people think it's so brilliant, maybe I have missed out on something.

HairyIrene · 29/10/2007 23:28

lol talk northern,
but i still say innit and drop me aitches
if you cant find your ear trumpet lovey, i'll do semaphore...

i remember the exact episode, and brutal it was..
the bada bing stuff could go on, but hte classic episode with chris and pauli in the snow...
there is just so little i like on the box, if found the dialogue and story has, on the whole been consistent and slow spots weak spots but on the whole its been really enjoyable i think

(last series had weird hospital scene)

there wre off episodes, definately, but i found it gripping in the main..
also steve buscemi guested, and he's one of my favourites and directed so that was a thrill!

it was brave ending too for a show i thought..

gawd, you tell i dont get out much!

policywonk · 29/10/2007 23:37

Aw, it's sad when a show you love ends. I have never actually watched the last episode of the West Wing, so that I can pretend that it never really ended. Now that's sad.

Doubtless I will get the Sopranos box set at some time in the future when I'm feeling less over-sensitive about sex and violence, or get it uploaded into my brain-port or whatever we'll be doing in ten years' time.

ThingsThatGoBomperInTheNight · 30/10/2007 09:41

I reckon it was just Tony that was shot, they tended not to touch family members and then all rallied round to look after them after they're husband/dad was killed. How nice of them...!! Do you remember the storyline when Dr Melfi was raped, and she knew that if she told Tony he would have the guy killed? In the end she took the moral high ground and kept it to herself but I was shouting 'Tell him, tell him'!!!

HairyIrene · 30/10/2007 10:57

i thought she dumped him pdq dr melfi i mean

i can understand that though the rape thing
it was interesting strand
i'd love to sit in her womb like office!
and talk ME ME ME...

see now PW west wing passed me by
i dont watch alot and mum recommeded it but she also watches load of guff ime so never did get into it
mind you always liked martin sheen and stockard channing (great name, great lady) so not sure why .........

HairyIrene · 30/10/2007 10:59

oh as for shooting
see i did think only tony
BUT
if it was shurely we'd see some reaction
the fact that they were all together
they had all profited from the ill gotten gains
there was no music at all
then RIP

just got me thinking they all bought it...
no?

gawd i kept twitching all the way through when they showed small details and stuff..arrgghh this is it...

LOOBYLOU2 · 30/10/2007 12:12

I really don't think he was shot ..... I think the scene was another of those (like Christmas) where you see this family despite everything that pays for their lifestyle (of which they are all aware!)being normal. The series has always shown the stark contrast between Tony's "work" and homelife and how he manages to separate the two.

Yes I wanted Melfi to tell him about the rape too .....

HairyIrene · 30/10/2007 16:43

looby
do you think so?

why did it say RIP at the end of titles?
suppose it couldve been for the crew and actors jobs

wasn't there a theory about that Tony died died at the safe house (same song playing) and last ep just his dream / brain dying?
