Anyone else looking forward to the new episodes of First Dates on tonight?
It's one of the programs I always find myself watching, I really enjoy the banter between the staff too.

No, they did ask. Jessie & Josh and Billy & Katarina said yes, one person in each of the other 2 couples said no.

I didn’t think it was necessary for them to show his card being declined, that felt a bit mean. Mind you, if the prices at the Manchester branch are anything like they were in the London restaurant, I’m not surprised! 😮

Do you know when it was filmed? Love First Dates but whenever a new series of anything comes on at the moment I find myself spending half the time distracted by how they’ve managed to do the filming with Covid restrictions.

@buzzing it was definitely during 2020 as one of the people on the programme said they had Covid in March. First dates = fine but people have had weddings with restrictions. It's 100% not fair. I also believe crystal maze was filmed as normal last year but could be wrong.

It’s lost a bit of authenticity hasn’t it.
Perhaps I’m resistant to change but the Christmas one was cringey crap. I’ve gone right off Fred since he started knocking about with Gino D’acampo too. The obligatory participant sob stories are getting very bottom of the barrel, and everyone seems to know each other already.
Is the world shrinking or is it that the casting crew scan the applicants social media followers for potential suitors? Also I miss Sam.

It was much better in the early series where a sob story wasn't required and it was just single people who wanted to find someone.

I'll still watch though, just waiting for those pairs that do have a spark.

Yes, I do agree. Early series were much more natural and authentic.

Then the wannabes started seeing it as another reality show they could go on and so the drama got ramped up, the tone became much more sexual and it became an irritating watch.

I find the older couples more genuine.

No idea why they moved to Manchester, though. Cheaper production costs?

The London restaurant moved locations during the summer, I thought due to pandemic but it could have been the lease was ending anyway.

One of the gay men mentioned having had covid so that told me it was filmes after covid started, however disappointed to see no one is wearing a mask, they are not distancing, and they have been greeting each other with air kisses. Doesn’t seem right to me.

Can’t believe that was filmed in Covid times, prob the summer, but we still weren’t allowed to hug. But out of order I’d say.
