@alittleprivacy

That was clearly political. Graham wasn’t a great dancer but his skating was extremely strong. He wouldn’t have won, but he should have gone an awful lot further. I wonder if it’s to do with Yebin Mok’s accident, which was obviously very bad as they only aired other people reacting to it rather than showing what happened.
The woman he was with now was always through clenched teeth. No genuine bond
Mrsbrownsgargoyle · 31/01/2021 20:47

What the hell? GB was soooo much better than RV. And what was in the Hound's tweets?

CharityDingle · 31/01/2021 21:02

@AKissAndASmile

Didn't know RV was a mum. Oh gosh, how does she do it!
It's hardly been mentioned at all.
CharityDingle · 31/01/2021 21:04

@EvilRingahBitch

No power on earth can stop me giving Colin all the votes. He danced so beautifully on Strictly, he’s a lovely bloke and he’s Welsh.
He is very graceful on the ice. Really liked his performance.

@RootyT00t The woman he was with now was always through clenched teeth. No genuine bond

She did always look kind of pissed off but I had thought it was more at the way they were being scored and the lack of recognition for his skill. But maybe it was that she didn't enjoy being partnered with him. That hadn't occurred to me because I was pissed off with how he was scored so I assumed she was pissed off for the same reason.

I'm no skating expert but I do figure skate a bit and he was a strong skater. I think his skiing background includes slalom and that clearly translated to strong controlled edges on his skates. The Grease dance wasn't a good one for him as he's not a great dancer, he was better with slower numbers. But he was much, much more talented at skating than most of their darlings.

I do wonder though if Ashley had the sour crossed arms because he didn't like Graham and wouldn't clap for him. Or if they had been ordered by ITV to send him off and he was angry because he was being forced to judge unfairly.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 31/01/2021 21:30

I will be watching tomorrow as I am on call and got called. My sliding and potting will have to be viewed in the morning.

I don’t think GB should have gone and I haven’t seen it!!!

I don’t know what Plucky didn’t clap for. It would be interesting to find out. I don’t care for his opinion anyway but I would like to see his justification for scoring or perhaps GBgoing.

Were there random scores tonight or not?

Just so I know! Wink

Honeyroar · 31/01/2021 21:57

Graham came off the ice crying and they comment that there was more emotion in RV’s skate!! I thought I’d heard wrong at first. They raved about RV last week too, but I couldn’t understand why.

I love watching the skating and progression, but the format of the show and the voting drives me crazy, it’s so bad.

TheChosenTwo · 31/01/2021 22:33

Weird, much preferred Graham’s skate off performance, as they skated off all the judges stopped clapping (Ashley didn’t even appear to start) and Ashley and John gave each other ‘a look’ which was all quite awkward.
Dislike JB anyway, I know where he can shove his fabulaaaaarse 🙄

John clapped and looked at Ashley as if to say why arent you clapping

You leave my man alone 😭😭💖

Honeyroar · 31/01/2021 23:19

Christopher Dean barely reacted earlier when Graham said he’d skate like him the following week. Now I wonder if that was because he knew he would be going.

Honeyroar · 31/01/2021 23:20

I like JB too. My friend went on that dog programme he did, Superstar dogs, and said he was lovely.

EvilRingahBitch · 31/01/2021 23:30

I like JB too. Wildly OTT but always value for money. I saw him in panto the year he was on DOI as a contestant and that desperation to entertain was exactly what was required as Prince Charming.

I tend to agree that a big cheesy grin is not what you need if you’re dancing in costume to a song from Hamilton.

I've met him. He's lovely.

And Holly saying if you're here ..
RootyT00t · 01/02/2021 07:43

Ooh I looked through the Rufus hound articles. It's not looking good I think the fact there was not even a zoom with him or Robin and no well wishing to him was v telling!I expect a withdrawal next week

Dontjudgeme101 · 01/02/2021 08:15

The show this year so far has been a bit of a disaster. DVO should of pulled out of the show earlier due to her injury.

Rufus should of also left due to Isolating, like they did in Strictly with Nicola Adams. He had a golden ticket, which imo he didn’t deserve.

Graham should not have gone home. I would of loved to have seen Jason on the show. It would of been very interesting, when the scoring had to be done!

They could of made things fairer, like saying no-one will go home this week, when they were 3 contestants down and carried over the voting over until the next week, and then eliminated 2 contestants.

I know it’s only a programme and l am probably too involved, nothing much else to do at the moment!

kittykarate · 01/02/2021 10:38

I wonder if it’s to do with Yebin Mok’s accident, which was obviously very bad as they only aired other people reacting to it rather than showing what happened.

I mean, Yebin's accident seemed pretty grim, but I don't think he was at fault for the severity. I mean, she fell on the tail of his blade, it's not like he ran at her with a steak knife. You could maybe argue that he should have let go and not dragged her down with him, but that would be completely against instinct. Yebin's on the mend though - she's been delivering some of her online exercise classes this week.

iklboo · 01/02/2021 11:47

We watched it today on ITVHub so no ads every 15 seconds. SO much better. Agree Graham was bloody robbed. Seems they're keeping Vardy in for viewers. Bag of moo poo 🐮 💩.

Shitzngiggles · 01/02/2021 11:54

Graham was definitely robbed. His routine was much better than Vardy's. Me and DH were sitting there going what the fuck. Makes no sense. Very weird scoring this year though. Dont know what's going on.

Shitzngiggles · 01/02/2021 11:55

Oops, meant his standard of skating was much better.

alittleprivacy · 01/02/2021 12:14

I'm sure it wasn't his fault but it just makes so little sense that the skater who has the strongest skating ability. He performed a perfectly synchronised solo waltz jump in his first skate, had excellent edge control, the best control on his crossovers, flawless transitions. He wasn't a great dancer like Colin and didn't have the flexibility or perfect extensions of Faye, or Amy this week, but the only contestant who's actual skating was as good was Joe-Warren. Even with that hand-jive song being a bit of a stinker from the Grease catalogue, he was a top 5 contestant at the moment.

I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing was a fix. For some reason it's really clear that someone/ones wanted him off the show. Whether it was because he wasn't liked by the judges, his partners or people higher up in ITV isn't clear. (Maybe he reads mumsnet and just hates Phil?) But something just really stinks about it. It's really put me off the show. Like most of this website, I dislike Phil, but since I started skating, I've really enjoyed watching it. And while I understand that there is an element of popularity contest to the voting, it's still usually about the skating with the judges. But this wasn't.

LIZS · 01/02/2021 12:37

Definitely some personal needle between GB and panel. RV was so stiff and he delivered more performance as well as technique.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 01/02/2021 13:00

Hello.

The Mary Poppins one was a bit flat for me. I’m not sure it was cor blimey - more lummy . Ikl you were bob on with M.P call. It was grand but dull. I was waiting for the frantic bit at the end and it didn’t come 🤷‍♀️

I thought it was very highly marked. Maybe just me. I found it stilted.

I know you love JB RootyT00t but that white jacket looked as though it had sparkly dandruff. A lot of it.

The tortoise has cast his normal shell for the brothel sofa look. Just remember velour doesn’t wipe clean... and he looked as though he had paired it with a turtle neck. Apt.

Becky with the not good hair but the bad wig. The lifts looked a bit ropey. And it is hard to show expression when your coupon don’t move...

SunnyD. The golden ticket mince. Yawn. He wasn’t bad apart from the fumbly lift. A lot more E numbers and it would have been fab.

Wee Amy. Bless her. She did well. And lovely to see DVO supporting her - what a nice gracious egg.

GBell did quite well I thought. I thought he was marked a little harshly if I’m honest. Given that he isn’t just getting hauled about like some of the lassies, I thought he did ok..

Jase. Love don’t leave me this way (I shook myself back in the day to this A LOT!). Lovely to see JB bopping away in the background too. I enjoyed that. Might be swayed by the song 🤗. Crikey - those scores were shite 🤨

LAdyL looked great - apart from looking my age - wtaf? She is young and beautiful. She ain’t Shirl Bassey (who is lovely looking but clearly older). Yes it was a tiny bit wobbly - not that bloody wobbly though. The scoring. ‘Sake. Or should I say ‘holy cow’. If the judges could see me raising my middle finger now - you’d better believe it. 🥴

Col. I must’ve got summat in my eye. I can’t tell you why but that made me fill up a bit.

JoeW.

Skated ok. I’m wasn’t keen on the song and I felt nowt. Sorry.

Becky’s skate off last lift. Holy feck. That was better than her first skate.

GBell. Did really well.

I just feel that GBell was destined for the off. That grizzled tortoise was commiserating with him before the vote. Shite really.

Even though I read this thread last night the result was not a surprise 🙄

If they could have given Becky a golden ticket even if she’d have duffed the
skate I bet they would have done.

I’m losing faith.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 01/02/2021 13:04

Lots of cross posts while I’ve been viewing and posting.

And all saying the same.

Toise has fixed it for you Bex. She’ll be wearing the badge next week.

Elderflower14 · 01/02/2021 13:24

I didn't understand GBs random comments about lots of snow??? Confused
