lydialemon - hooray it isnt just me that waits in anticipation for my mag every month! Let me know what you think of firefly - wanted to get it before the film comes out - might put it on my xmas list!

lydialemon · 28/10/2004 13:46

Well, thanks to DD have a horrendous temperature and DS2 deciding to upchuck everywhere at about midnight, we ended up watching Firefly until about 2.30am. whilst cuddling kiddies on the sofa...

It was really good, and I'm glad there's nothing on TV again tonight, as we can then watch some more (hopefully on our own this time )

MrsBigD · 28/10/2004 13:54

yingers74 - hmmm... Anneka? B'lana? Kathrine? Kes? hehehe we're equally sad... DD's middle name is out of Voyager as well. GEEK hahahaha

themoneyshot · 28/10/2004 20:02

SG is good, but nowhere near as good as the movie..Kurt Russell, oooh, yes please! He can travel in my time portal whenever he likes!

yingers74 · 28/10/2004 21:03

I don't know about that! I liked james spader who played daniel in the film!
What is firefly about exactly?

OP posts:
MrsBigD · 29/10/2004 08:32

hmmm Kurt Russel vs Richard Dean Anderson ... that's a tie

yingers74 - firefly info have a look at \link{http://www.fireflyfans.net/fireflyfansite}

MrsBigD · 29/10/2004 08:33

hmmm don't seem to be able to do the link thing as described in the 'links & emoticons'

wobblyknicks · 29/10/2004 09:06

I love Stargate too but have only seen about 4 episodes in the past year due to not having sky anymore . Going to get the boxsets one day and catch up!!!

joanneg · 29/10/2004 09:57

joanneg · 29/10/2004 09:58

Mrsbigd - think that you had one of the backslashes the wrong way!

MrsBigD · 29/10/2004 10:53

yeah spotted that too and tried the string again with the correct backslash but still the same result in the preview
you couldn't send me exactly what you posted so I can see whether I've got a space too many or not enough?
cheers

yingers74 · 29/10/2004 15:07

tah for that, will take a look. are you watching battlestar galactica? My dh is a fan but i have not really paid much attention to it, rather spend the hour on mumsnet or doing some much needed house work!

OP posts:
MrsBigD · 29/10/2004 15:16

battlestar galactica unfortunately clashes with 'Pink Pather' and/or 'Little Mermaid'... part of our bed time routine... sad I know, but the easierst way to get dd into bed! Did catch a glimps of it though on SkyMix and not looking too bad. Well nothing could be worse than the original Battlestar Series! LOL But Starbuck a Woman?!? Well great from the feministic point of view but it just doesn't gel!

I cut and posted the link you did (above) then deleted the / and made it a \ and it worked - so I think that the rest of what you did was fine x

Loving Battlestar Galactica - very good and very gripping

milkbar · 29/10/2004 18:42

I am quite relieved not to be the only mum watching and enjoying battlestar gallactica. Which is fraking great! I used to watch the original series with my mum...
I guess the Boomers don't know that they are cylons?

yingers74 · 29/10/2004 21:42

no, they don't. Although i said i am not watching it properly, i am glad they introduced that conflict bit between her cylon and human programming. I would hate to see her end up being completely bad.

MrsBigD · 30/10/2004 18:57

I'd love to watch it (despite my misgivings about Starbuck ) but somehow ... ah well guess I'll put it on my wishlist for when the series comes out on DVD and then do the junkie session!

Oh and on a sad note... DH has taught DD 2.10yo the 'live long and prosper' hand sign... now he's working on the phrase!

yingers74 · 30/10/2004 21:07

LOL, mrsbigd take heart, he could be teaching her far worst hand signs!

OP posts:
themoneyshot · 30/10/2004 22:06

Yes, like the gesture dh has when his beer glass is empty, or the 1 I have when he asks me to fill it!

themoneyshot · 30/10/2004 22:07

And something esle, squatting over his pint pot takes a lot of balance!

MrsBigD · 31/10/2004 09:32

oh we've already had the 'worse' signes... one day last month when some idiot cut us up in the car my DH gave him the middle finger with some verbal embellishment and guess what... DD did the same . I was trying not to laugh cause otherwise she probably would have kept doing it!

yingers74 · 31/10/2004 13:47

LOL, at least she knows what context it should be used within!

OP posts:
MrsBigD · 31/10/2004 17:31

That's what DH said when I told him off

yingers74 · 01/11/2004 21:52

okay, despite my initial doubts, I am getting into battlestar galactica!!! it was a very good episode tonight!

OP posts:
MrsBigD · 01/11/2004 22:51

tried to watch it but dd had a MAJOR tantrum, because she had to change from her 'snow white' pretty dress into 'boring 101 Dalmation' PJs . Ah well there's always SkyMix or the re-run.
