Mine would be Geoff and Yasmin from Corrie

Without spoiler

Who gets the Throne and why in Game Of Thrones.

Pure wank.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 17/02/2021 01:05

The rape and torture of Jamie in Outlander. The fact that it went on for a whole episode was just too much. I had to fast forward through nearly all of it. I'm not usually easily offended, but it seemed like torture porn for the sake of it.

Also THIS

HORRIFIC

And rules out the entire show as regards rewatching or recommending to acquaintances.

Handmaids Tale also went repeatedly too far in some areas and can't be repeat viewed because one particular episode is traumatising, more so than in general

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 17/02/2021 01:12

There's a lot of sexual violence as entertainment out there, isn't there?

I wonder who they think enjoys seeing that? Or enjoys writing about it - or directing/filming it?

tonystarksrighthand · 17/02/2021 02:19

When Charlie Sheen was no longer in two and half men.

Meh

LunaNorth · 17/02/2021 02:41

Phoebe’s triplets in Friends.
Jamie’s rape in Outlander - it put me off, couldn’t be bothered watching much more after that.
Mick’s mercy-killing of his mum in Brookside. Very upsetting.
Denise’s behaviour towards Baby David in The Royle Family. It bordered on neglect and wasn’t funny or realistic.
Anything in Only Fools and Horses after they became millionaires. It should have been left where it was, instead of them losing the money.

Yep.

I wish people would stop telling me to watch Game of Thrones. I don't find sexual assault entertaining

Iamtooknackeredtorun · 17/02/2021 10:53

The demise of Peter Quinn in Homeland. I hated seeing him incapable and vulnerable.

ReggaePerrin · 17/02/2021 11:21

If there's a mother whose child has died she turns into a crazed baby snatcher. Every single fucking time. It boils my piss. It's lazy writing IMHO.

elQuintoConyo · 17/02/2021 11:28

After the plane crash episode in Emmerdale. Far too Lockerbie.

I also refuse to watch Game of Thrones for reasons stated by pp.

Let's be honest that characters entire storyline from start to finish was the weakest in the whole show. They should have written that character out entirely, not given them the throne.
clpsmum · 17/02/2021 11:33

Rachel and joey

clpsmum · 17/02/2021 11:33

@OohKittens agreed

I never finished the second series of Handmaid's Tale. I was so absorbed in series one, but two was not in the same league at all, too focused on trying to be shocking.

The downfall of juice in sons of anarchy

Frazzled99 · 17/02/2021 11:37

Hands down Glen's death in Walking Dead....too much.

IEat · 17/02/2021 11:38

The bins on EastEnders
How Sienna in Hollyoaks isn’t in prison
Emmerdale Mandy
EastEnders and Max shagging and shouting

Corrie and the current housing drama
Loved sunset beach
Mom and far Elvis brilliant in EastEnders

Frazzled99 · 17/02/2021 11:39

@30not13

Ross and Rachel Friends.

The whole thing is about coercive control and manipulation yet it's supposed to be funny

@30not13 Just out of interest in what ways? I totally failed to see this, would be interested to hear more.
pickingdaisies · 17/02/2021 11:43

I get upset by a lot of the exploitation and sexualised violence at the moment. Marcella being a really horrible example.
Corrie has really lost its way. I keep waiting for a nasty storyline to end, only for another to take its place.
Holby is going the same way.

ZombeaArthur · 17/02/2021 11:45

Any series where a lead character is falsely imprisoned, it’s usually the beginning of the end for me. Also, coma sequences, especially the Sopranos.

SomewhereUpMyArse · 17/02/2021 11:47

Not an individual story but how EastEnders is full of middle aged women going after young men or even boys. Irl everyone knows it's guys who go for young women and that their creepy predation is sort of societally sanctioned. EastEnders scriptwriters seem hell bent on pretending that women act the same way. Reminds me of the kind of dopes who talk about "reverse sexism" etc.

Rockbird · 17/02/2021 11:49

Yes, came on to say Kat and Ronnie baby swap. I loved both characters and really felt for Ronnie, but I hated that storyline. Also, although I haven't watched Eastenders for years, did I read that Zoe was a twin and Kat has a son? FFS doesn't even cover the ridiculousness of it!

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 17/02/2021 11:51

I stopped watching Coronation St years ago. Far too much misery. Dipped in again last year, and again couldn't watch (Leanne's son storyline). She's an excellent actress, I'll give her that. It was almost too well done, and uncomfortable to watch

Mick & Linda in EE. There's always.something.wrong.

Rachel & Ross having a baby in Friends. I think eventually they just stopped referring to her completely, but Rachel often had a baby monitor in her hand Hmm
Yes also to Rachel and Joey.
Also, watching it as an adult and realising that Joey is a total loser, there's no way he would have pulled (?) most of those women, never mind have them hysterically falling at his feet for more Hmm Not to mention his disgusting treatment of women in general, I just don't find it funny at all.

TeaSoakedDisasterMagnet · 17/02/2021 11:52

The pointless rape of Anna in Downton. A completely awful way to ruin the final series. It served as gratuitous violence so that Mr Bates could be ambiguously murderous again.

Also as pp said, the dead baby swap in Eastenders.

covetingthepreciousthings · 17/02/2021 12:25

I know this wasn't aimed at me, but the one that springs out to me is the whole Joshua scenario when he takes a picnic to the office and completely embarrasses her in the end.

I find Friends hard to rewatch these days and I LOVED it, and yes to PP who commented about Joey..

Samcro · 17/02/2021 13:09

Oh yes, and gemmas rape. Opies death and the awful torture of the innocent man.
