I got quite excited thinking the BBC was giving us a new drama in prime time.

Then someone pointed out is was previously shown on Alibi.

I remember enjoying it in not a very deep way. Lots of female characters. Based on an idea from Val McDermaid.

To bury her under the concrete would have involved digging up more of it - didn't he just install bollards in existing concrete? Dismembered for ease of transport maybe?

I don't think there was a motive as such, more a drink/drug fuelled act of anger in the moment. I'm not entirely sure though.

JaimieLeeCurtains · 21/01/2021 20:09

Aren't bodies buried under concrete very rarely discovered unless they're accidentally dug up by later development?

Whereas bodies buried in soil are frequently discovered by dog walkers - the dogs sniff them out once the body starts to be disturbed by the actions of earthworms and burrowing animals, and the odours come more strongly to the surface.

And why dismember a body - all that awful gruesome effort - only to bury all the body parts in the same makeshift grave anyway? Or did I watch that wrong?

What vehicle was used? Etc.

@SoupDragon
We can't get Britbox in Ireland either. Sad

4 episodes in and DH has just realised Emma's dad was in Gregory's Girl (I had to Google it to know what he was on about).

Clawdy · 21/01/2021 22:31

Yes, he hasn't aged well.

DipSwimSwoosh · 21/01/2021 22:36

I feel like an episode was missing. What happened to the pink dress?

colouringindoors · 22/01/2021 23:55

Really enjoyed this. Interesting story and lots of strong female characters Grin

I adored the relationship between Emma and Dan, for me it was very convincing! When he kissed her tattoo on her hand, and she kissed his tattoo on his chest 🦋🦋🦋

I just felt he looked far too old for her - I know she's around early twenties in real life, but she looks like a teenager!

Just caught up with this and I enjoyed it, although why follow a dangerous man along a deserted alleyway and why not just tell the nice trustworthy policeman straight away when you find some new significant evidence? Like in most crime dramas ...

But I did like the fact there was no clichéd final episode scene with the killer almost killing Emma who was then saved at the very last second, probably by Daniel.

That father had glitteringly evil eyes!

And yes, John Gordon Sinclair looked a wee bit rough but acted the part very well. I've had a soft spot for him since Gregory's Girl. One of my favourite films. I remember him all long and lanky, zigzagging in front of his dad's car like a startled antelope Grin

Resurrecting this thread as finally got around to watching the show. One thing that really puzzles me is HOW did Izzy know about the body being dismembered? That was quite a key turning point in the plot as it was what prompted Emma to investigate further. Either Izzy was involved in some way - maybe coerced into keeping quiet as she was terrified of the killer? Or perhaps she guessed it was him and made up what he would have done in her head as she knew what he was like, and it turned out to be true? Confused

Just watched this in one sitting and loved it! Although mightily pissed off that most of the street scenes were not Dundee!!

There is no way they could have had genuine Dundonian accents! I remember introducing my Glaswegian mum to my Dundonian best friend. My mum had no idea what she was saying!!

Made me feel a wee bit homesick. Haven't been back for over a year. Bloody lockdown.

A bit late to the party - but just binge watched this. I find Molly Walker who plays Emma quite mesmerising - she was in Three Girls. I really liked the Laura Fraser character (who seems to be in everything at the moment! Or maybe just those programmes I am bingeing on!).

I thought this was excellent, liked how it unfolded and hadn’t twigged what an unpleasant man Phil was until he almost made her jump - and really pleased there is another series.
