Another name this person thread!

[Beadlet]

Inspired by a recent thread I’m going to see if Mumsnet can help me identify this person - actor and or tv personality. It’s been bugging me for months after I met someone who closely resembled him on holiday (may have been him, who knows!)

English actor (I’m thinking soap actor but also can see him presenting lite-history / cultural programmes ala Michael Portillo)
In his 60s / 70s - maybe even a bit older now
Posh and softy spoken
Quite debonair
Slim, quite refined features (angular more than soft)
Perhaps slightly spiked hair

I can see him in some posh attire, perhaps a blazer and red trousers
I feel he may have played the part of a posh and not very nice scheming person in a soap opera, someone living in the country, perhaps owning land
A very distinctive voice, perhaps slightly gravelly yet smooth

It’s not Nigel Havers, or the bloke that played Richard in Corrie

The name Martin comes to mind but my searches have borne no fruit.

Martin Turner - he has been in the Bill etc

Patrick Mower is getting closer. But more posh and refined, a bit taller and more fair too I think. The voice is really distinctive (in my head!) - kind of silky. In whatever I’m thinking of I think he was married. And I’m sure his character was not to be trusted.

Martin Turner - some similarities but the guy I’m thinking of is not as attractive! He’s also a bit older I’d say - and I don’t think I’ve seen him in anything very recent.

Michael Portillo? Red trousers led me there.

On a tangent, I once boarded a flight to a small provincial airport and sat next to a lady and man. We greeted each other, as you do. But I immediately thought "police woman". No idea why, until months later she popped up in a soap she appeared in playing, a police woman. She had appeared periodically in that role.
