OP posts:

Right decisions all round for me! Great start.

Akire · 10/01/2021 20:59

It’s one episode one and they already focusing a lot on 2-3 main people especially Jodie the welsh one. Do wonder if they cut it so we see the winners who last the most. Some people you nearly saw.

SoupDragon · 10/01/2021 21:06

I think they focus on different ones each week depending on what footage they get. When there are a lot of them at the start it must be difficult.

Looking forward to next week already :)

RainBow725 · 10/01/2021 21:08

Loved it - especially Rich as a judge 😍. Some gentle tv distraction from the world. Just what we need.

teuer · 10/01/2021 21:22

I loved that and agreed with the star potter and one sent home. As the saying goes, there was nowhere to hide with that simple white one and the glaze and stuck lids were a major sticking point (so to speak). I adored the Charlie and bee sets and the monument valley one too. Some very talented people. Rich is a brilliant judge. I’m not sure what I think of Mels replacement yet. I like her dry sense of humour but she is a bit OTT.

Murinae · 10/01/2021 21:38

Loved Rich as a judge. Lovely Sunday evening viewing.

maturinsslothe · 10/01/2021 21:40

Ah. That was as restorative as a long hot bath. Blissful.

SoupDragon · 10/01/2021 21:45

Sewing Bee got me through lockdown 1' hopefully this will seems throug this one!

MoltenLasagne · 10/01/2021 21:51

Well that was lovely and I really enjoyed Sister Michael as the presenter after she warmed up. What's her actual name though?

SoupDragon · 10/01/2021 21:55

Siobhan something

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 10/01/2021 21:56

Siobhan mcsweeney. (Excuse any poor spelling please)

Bunnybigears · 10/01/2021 22:06

I loved Charlie dog. Is Rose a boy being a girl or a girl being a boy but dressing as a girl?

MoltenLasagne · 10/01/2021 22:18

Thanks both.

SoupDragon · 10/01/2021 23:36

@Bunnybigears

I loved Charlie dog. Is Rose a boy being a girl or a girl being a boy but dressing as a girl?
Who cares? Going into that will just ruin a nice gentle thread about pottery. The lab technician is called Rose. Personally I think that's really all that matters from the point of view of the thread.
bibliomania · 11/01/2021 08:22

Agreed. I think there's plenty to debate about the trans lobby, but it's not fair to project that on one individual who is just going about their job.

weaselwords · 11/01/2021 08:51

I thought the standard so high! Loved the winner too. There are some very talented people on this year. One day I want to be on the throw down but I can only hand build and my throwing is shocking so I don’t stand s chance 🤣

Bunnybigears · 11/01/2021 12:05

Point taken although I was just curious and not trying to start any sort of trans debate. I'm just in it for the nice pots and the crying.

TheSilveryPussycat · 11/01/2021 12:33

The new presenter seemed to do a lot of in-yer-face with the contestants, while they were working. It almost looked like she was trying to sabotage.

emotionalpuddle · 11/01/2021 19:53

I've finally caught up! Looking forward to this thread and the future projects! My favourites were Charlie dog and the bees I think 💕

IntermittentParps · 12/01/2021 13:12

Enjoyed this and am so glad to have a nice gentle watch post-Bake Off.
Not keen on Siobhan; a bit full-on and too much of a comedian. She was talking and trying to be funny over one of the conversations between the judges and the potter. Shut up! I'd love Sara back.

I adore Rich but wonder if he's slightly regretting not staying as a technician. I got the impression several times that he's thinking he's surrounded by loudmouths and weirdos.

I like Irina; she's a loon. Love her garden flamingos (not a euphemism).
Love Sal. What a sweetheart. Liked her set apart from the writing.
Pirate woman is a good illustrator but that might be all.
Wanted camp gentle ex-theatre costume guy to stay for longer.
Liked the bee thing apart from the queen bee with the goggling eyes and phallic orb and sceptre. He's nice though, the guy from Huddersfield.
Young Israeli chap seems sweet.
Woman whose granddad was a painter is a bit wet.
Welsh person is a bit humourless.
Like the model (I think she's a model?); she's funny.

Love the slightly Edwardian look Rose has got going.

LaChatte · 12/01/2021 17:04

Is anyone else a little underwhelmed that they're making bricks next week?!!

SoupDragon · 12/01/2021 17:06

That's just the short challenge isn't it?

lynsey91 · 12/01/2021 17:11

I want that dog set. I don't even like cheese but I want it. The dogs were gorgeous.

I don't know any men that cry that easily but I do. It can be embarrassing at times but no matter what I do I can't stop it

bibliomania · 12/01/2021 17:45

Intermittent, I agree about Rich. He stood there stolidly making sensible comments while people gurned and wept around him. I enjoyed the contrast.

TurquoiseBaubles · 13/01/2021 01:22

Just placemarking, very late Smile

I was prepared to really dislike Siobhan but warmed to her as it went on. I think there will be a lot of banter between her and the potters, and between each other as the series goes on because they will all be living together and so will know each other better than in earlier series.

I loved the Charlie set. I want one.
