I love watching this, so satisfying. Adore Cool Keef. Does anyone else think that he looks like Fungus the Bogeyman? Square shoulders, double quiff, green tweedy suit etc...

IEat · 24/01/2021 21:09

So glad the guy who used to fire the pottery has a bigger role and the new host is a winner

catsareme14 · 24/01/2021 21:23

First time I've watched this , I loved it ! Who are the judges please ladies . Woman seemed a bit false ?

Twinkie01 · 24/01/2021 21:27

Does anyone else have a guess how many times Keith is going to cry competition at the beginning of every show? You can't pick a number someone else has and can't change it once show has started?

CocoLoco87 · 24/01/2021 22:01

I thought Keef held it together quite well this evening. He's definitely had programs where he has cried more than not at the things the potters have produced. I thought he was quite restrained tonight Grin

YES!

My God!

YES!!!

SlippersForFlippers · 24/01/2021 22:03

If anyone also watched blown away there is a 2nd series now on Netflix (it's glass blowing, American show so more OTT)

LaChatte · 24/01/2021 22:09

OMG slippers, thank you! I'm stuck in bed with the-virus-that-must-not-be-named and there's only so much Jane the Virgin I can take having watched everything else , so glad I've got something else to distract me now!

WhatFreshStartIsThis · 25/01/2021 09:46

Slippers thanks I really enjoyed the first series of Blown Away and didn’t know there was a second.

LaChatte · 25/01/2021 12:09

So many pieces smashing!! I'm not sure I can take it!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/01/2021 05:55

Watching the first series of Blown Away - it's OK - but as someone else has said, a bit OTT. One of the women is REALLY getting on my last nerve.

Some of the glasswork is amazing! However I think it's very harsh having the whole competition relying on the production of one piece - if someone has an accident, then that's it - they're out, as there's nothing to fall back on at all.

Also, it would be nice to have a technical challenge - from the viewer's perspective it wouldn't just give us the opportunity to learn about the different types of glassware and skills, but would also let us see which of these glass-blowers were one trick ponies, only able to produce a certain style/type of glassware.

One of the competitors (Janusz) is producing some fabulous work - but as he says, last week doesn't matter, it's this week that counts. I would hate to see him go out because he, or someone else, (say) slipped and broke his glassware.

Got home from work and caught up.
I had Suze as the one packing her bags this week. The leaf bowl was phenomenal and the dragon fruit was magnificent.
Only 4 more to lose and I will be properly invested in cheering on my favourites

IntermittentParps · 28/01/2021 17:35

Suze was the right pick to go, although Alon's days must be numbered. I think he's got a bit of a high opinion of himself.

Liked Sal's dragon fruit and the two people who did blackberries did them beautifully. Otherwise I'm a bit underwhelmed by this week's. I'm pleased for Shenyue though; she's good, and she's funny. I like her.

Hello, I’m so happy to have found this thread. Have watched all three earlier series and the three episodes of this series so far and whilst I was a bit taken aback by Keith’s crying at first, it is clear to me that it is genuine - he is so lovely and really cares about the people as well as what they make. Also, as @LaChatte mentioned, his videos on Facebook are great - his humour and warmth really comes through.

Alon has got to be on a final written warning surely? So much potential though! Sal is lovely as is her work.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/01/2021 12:21

Welcome Nydj

I think Keef's weeping is genuine, but it still gets on my wick.

Nydj · 31/01/2021 13:55

Thanks, @SchadenfreudePersonified and yes, I can see that it can be irritating. I’m looking forward to raku week tonight.

Wolfcub · 31/01/2021 20:00

Evening potters

SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/01/2021 20:00

Everybody here?

I forgot Grayson's Art Club was on - have just caught the end - had I remembered I would have watched it. I loved it last year.

SimonJT · 31/01/2021 20:05

I got one of Henry’s spoon ‘carved’ mugs for my birthday, the bottom half is ‘naked’ spoon carving and the top half is a mixed blue glaze, it has a big circular handle. It’s lovely.

Sunbird24 · 31/01/2021 20:06

I’m in! Just need to make a new brew

Chrysanthemum5 · 31/01/2021 20:09

Watching now

Wolfcub · 31/01/2021 20:09

I'm thinking Alon needs to dial it back a bit so as not to invite disaster

LaChatte · 31/01/2021 20:12

I don't think Alon fully understands what naked raku involves.

SimonJT · 31/01/2021 20:18

That Bora hob in the advert, surely the extractor just gets full of food and various shit?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/01/2021 20:20

It would in our house Simon - I'm a messy beggar!
