*sorry Mel not Deborah. Deb was the lady the first time he went on wasn't she?

Justaboutawake · 17/01/2021 15:52

I loved John and Melissa!

Don’t know what I think of this lot yet..... Matthew blinks too much. Gets on my nerves and makes him look psychotic

Teenminds · 17/01/2021 15:53

So at the end of Fridays episode it said next time Lauren had another bombshell and Matt saying he wanted no part of it, I think I have an idea of what that might be...
What does everyone else think?
Bit worried where people are up to on the episodes now. I am watching at 7:30 every week day evening and assuming that is the latest episodes on E4?

I agree with pp that something isn't quite right with Matt, I mean if you are that anxious surely you wouldn't be on a TV programme and having thousands or more people watching you lose your virginity?!

I do believe the whole Ines, Sam and Lizzie thing is a bit set up, but I'm just going with it.
The Lizzie apology was very scripted I think.
I've never seen the Australian MAFS so may go back and try and watch previous seasons after this.

Italiangreyhound · 17/01/2021 16:00

Episode 10/Friday 15 Jan

I did comment yesterday but not greatly about the lesbian 'revelation'. I think Lauren was awful to drop that bombshell on him and then he cross he didn't know how to deal with it.

Nothing wrong with being a lesbian or ex-lesbian but I would have hoped contestants would be asked what they may find acceptable in a partner to them personally.

I think having sex with Lauren and using a nickname 'Loz' created a false sense of security with Lauren for Matt. Faced with the reality she had been a lesbian (might really be bi) was a shock and it broke the sense of security.

I don't think he needs any reason to leave, they aren't really married and even if they were, he can always leave.

The snappy jar idea is a crappy idea Nic!

rc22
"What also seemed fake at the last dinner party was the 'experts' pretending they didn't already know Sam had left before the honeymoon."

Call me naive but I genuinely do not think the 'experts' see all the footage we see. They do seem genuinely surprised at the dinner party and commitment ceremonies.

But I do warn not to look for evidence either way as this does lead to spoilers!!

The snappy jar would make me even more frigging snappy !!!

rc22 · 17/01/2021 16:15

@Italiangreyhound no I wouldn't look for evidence! They just sort said they were surprised but didn't really look surprised to me. Or maybe they've been involved for so long nothing surprises them about the contestants anymore!!

waterlego · 17/01/2021 16:45

Any repeated phrases beginning to annoy people? Last series it was all about having each other’s backs. ‘I’ve got his back but I don’t know if he’s got my back’ etc

I’ve heard that a few times this series but the one I’m hearing a lot is references to walls.

‘I had my walls up but I began to let my walls down and now she’s put her walls up...’

I’m quite a few episodes ahead so maybe you won’t have noticed it yet but it gets said FAR too much! Hope that’s not a spoiler- I don’t think so.

Also, participants starting sentences with ‘Look...’ when they’re speaking to camera or at the commitment ceremonies. It sounds so arrogant to me; almost impatient.

Also getting a bit bored of ixpert John asking people how they’re ‘travelling along’.

John: So how have you guys been travelling along?

Participant: ‘Look, we’ve both had walls up but at the end of the day, we’ve got each other’s back’

"getting intimate" makes my skin itch!
Arrierttyclock · 17/01/2021 17:21

@rc22 no one from the last season stayed together, not even Telv and Sarah! Makes me loose a lot of faith for this season. I feel like some of the pairings are so so off- Ning and Mark, Dino and Mellisa, Jessika and Mick, Sam and Lizzie, Ines and Bronson! Some of these people haven't come on just for the insta followers like Jessika and Ines so I'm not finding it the most enjoyable season!

Jakadaal · 17/01/2021 17:39

It's when they describe Matt as 'ex virgin' ffs! Heidi is a bit too much for me and Mike is coming across too much as a lad.

As for Ines - words escape me!

Italiangreyhound · 17/01/2021 18:21

@rc22 I did look for evidence and found a spoiler!! I think they may know more than they let on but I do think they are perhaps also manipulated a bit!

Otherwise they have no credibility!

Apparently Telv and Sarah were quite heavily edited. That row they had wasn’t just about him going to the gym. He was buggering off on two day pissups with Ryan during the ixpiriment. It makes me wonder if other ‘perfect’ couples have been edited too.

Can’t find out anymore about Telv and Sarah because there was apparently violence on both sides and they both have some sort of restraining orders so they can’t badmouth each other anymore.

JoanWilderbeast · 17/01/2021 20:10

Agree with someone upthread wrt Lizzie and Lady Gaga. I thought Jessika reminded me of someone and it came to me that it's Emily Blunt/a young Nicola Pagett. Sam has behaved badly but I find myself somewhat sympathising with the Mike/farmer guy and their impatience with the drama queen fakeness element of some of the women. Having said that Heidi appears completely lovely and maybe if she's really into Mike, if she can go a bit slower on the emotional feels requirements of a bloke in his 40's who has probably grown up subject to different expectation of maleness than now, it might pay dividends. Also agree with a PP that expecting Ex-Virgin Mat to be completely blase with Lauren's reveal is a bit Hmm lovely though she seems.

Italiangreyhound · 17/01/2021 20:21

waterlego I think Australians use 'look' like we use 'well' -to my English ear it sounds rude... But.. well look, they can say what they like!

OP posts:
waterlego · 17/01/2021 22:06

Haha- yes Italian, exactly that. They use it in the way we’d use ‘well’. Some people use ‘listen’ in a similar way.

To me, listen or look at the start of a sentence sounds a bit rude. A bit arsey!

waterlego · 17/01/2021 22:08

“getting intimate" makes my skin itch!

Yes, it’s grim. I find the word intimate cringey in general, maybe because of things like ‘intimate wipes’. Urgh.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 17/01/2021 22:38

I really didn't like it when Mike grabbed Heidi as she was hanging up her clothes and threw her into the bed for a meaty kiss, only to get up and walk out of the room when she was getting into it. It was a horrible power play thing. Ugh. He's vile. She's way to good for him. I find it frustrating that she's ignoring all her gut instincts about him.

ILoveMyBernina · 17/01/2021 23:09

Love Mr Farmer/Plasterer (so much so can't remember his name!) He doesn't give a toss about anything does he. Loved it at the commitment ceremony when he said "who cares what he thinks" referring to Mike.
I miss the waiter who used to say "dinner is servED"
Also Mr ex virgin has got disproportionately short arms. Never a good sign.

waterlego · 17/01/2021 23:35

Farmer man is Mick. I find him hilarious.

RuggeryBuggery · 18/01/2021 07:08

Yeah farmer (Mick?) is fast becoming one of my favourites and comes across quite genuine and straightforward.
Plus he’s the only person apart from Alf Stuart that I’ve heard say ‘you flamin galah’ 😂

LifeBeginsNow · 18/01/2021 07:22

Morning! This is my first time watching this and I'm loving it! Good trashy TV.
Two questions though... how many episodes are left/ roughly when will it end? The only reason I ask is because my husband is back soon and he really wont watch this. Not a problem ordinarily but he's been away for months so it seems a bit rude to abandon him for an hour and a half each night. I would check but dont want to risk a spoiler so this question is for anyone ahead already.
Also, why do you call them ixperts rather than experts? I've missed that somewhere.

Confusedandshaken · 18/01/2021 08:34

Just googled how many episodes - 40!! How much more drama can there be?

Ixperts is the MN way of representing the 'experts' Aussie accents. Although they are showing much ixpertise this series. Their role seems to be narrators, reading the scripts provided by the production team.

ihatethecold · 18/01/2021 08:35

Say ixperts out loud. It may answer your question. 😂

I agree. He's awful. And totally in it for the sex. He hasn't demonstrated that he wants to get to know Heidi (or any woman)! on a deeper level.

I also love Mick. He seems a straight-down-the-line-no-game-playing kind of man. I'm not sure he and his partner are particularly well matched but I may be wrong.
