I would say Kerching - looking back was awful.

A lot of 70s comedy. I used to watch On the Buses as a child and when I saw it recently I couldn't believe how shite it was. We used to watch Man about the House as well and that was wall to wall double entendres which went over the head of an innocent 7 year old.

rollinggreenhills · 22/12/2020 15:55

The Tomorrow People.

I yearned to be one of them - what was I thinking?

OohKittens · 22/12/2020 20:32

The tribe on channel 5 I was such a fan.

Disfordarkchocolate · 22/12/2020 20:33

The Good Life. Tom is hideous.

Toddlerteaplease · 22/12/2020 20:48

Birds of a feather.

Deathraystare · 27/12/2020 11:09

Randall and Hopkirk. Now so much cardboard! My Brother and I loved it when young!

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 28/12/2020 22:22

Agree with Birds of Feather.

Twin Peaks. What the hell was going on? Were we in drugs the first time? We thought it was bloody brilliant.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 29/12/2020 19:08

Sapphire & Steele.

Mincepiehangover · 29/12/2020 19:10

The Brittas Empire

I tried watching Twin Peaks a couple of years ago and didn't get it at all!

OhHiya · 29/12/2020 19:11

God, I remember this! Used to watch it all the time... I bet it would be painful to rewatch it now!

I loved The Good Life, and thought Tom was so much more fun than Jerry. But bloody hell, watching it with modern eyes, he was an absolute shocker!

MerchantOfVenom · 29/12/2020 19:17

George and Mildred - the neighbour, Jeffrey, was such an unutterable snob, who clearly let his absolute disdain for G&M shine through in every interaction with them, and every facial expression, because they were working class. I’m sure that wouldn’t happen now.

Clawdy · 29/12/2020 19:39

It Ain't Half Hot, Mum. Loved it! Don't think I would now.

I still love the Brittas Empire. I have the whole box set on DVD!

Sister Sister. Rewatched it on Netflix and found Roger's constant sexual harassment of the twins unbearable.

Facelikearustytractor · 29/12/2020 22:43

Game On. In my defense I was barely a teenager when I watched it. I did fancy Ben Chaplin though, despite his awful character.

MrsToothyBitch · 30/12/2020 00:11

Omg The Tribe!

I NEVER liked Tom in The Good Life. I'm a materialistic little thing so I'd always much rather have visited Jerry and Margo! I also work in Kingston and commute via Surbiton- there's a healthy brigade of both Tom types and Margo types about.

Clawdy · 30/12/2020 08:42

I can't said I disliked Tom as a character, but could never see how Barbara had ever found him remotely attractive!

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 30/12/2020 13:37

I think Twin Peaks was very much of it’s time, it was so new and exciting and UK viewers had never before seen the like. I loved it.

I couldn’t wait for the new series a couple of years ago - I couldn’t get past the first episode, it was utterly dire.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 30/12/2020 13:45

I grew up on Dallas and Dynasty and I still love them.

A few years back I watched a very early episode of Dynasty where Blake forces Krystle to have sex with him because she was “his wife”. It was very clear it was non consensual on Krystle’s part and was supposed to show Blake as this strong no nonsense man. It was rape. No if’s buts or maybes. Watching it in more recent times was very uncomfortable, but at the time it was intended to add to Blake’s appeal. I like to think it would get a different reception now.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 30/12/2020 13:51

I agree about Twin Peaks. I was hooked first time around but when I tried to watch repeats not so many moons ago I was horrified. It was also very slow!

I loved Dallas back in the day.

You must be new to Mumsnet if you think it wouldn’t happen now Grin
Annoy · 30/12/2020 14:06

Nickelodeon type teen shows like Sister Sister, Keenan and Kel, Sabrina the Teenage witch. I loved them as a teen!!

Now I’m having to go through similar ones again with Dd such as Sam and Cat, Sister Sister reruns and Fresh Prince. I now feel sorry for my mum 🙈

CJsGoldfish · 30/12/2020 14:06

I cringe at what we used to watch as kids. Benny Hill, Love Thy Neighbour, Are You Being Served, On The Buses, Bless This House, Mind Your Language to name a few.
Just awful.
