Shopkeepers used to wear them years ago to keep their cuffs out of the butter.

And office workers wore them to keep their cuffs out of the ink.

I think they were just called sleeve cuffs, but I can't remember. Mr S has gone to collect a curry or I would ask hm. He used to wear them (Yes! we are really that old . . .)
