Just a head's up that Season 1 is on BBC 4 on iPlayer.

I've only watched from about Season 6 onwards so I'm excited to see how it all started.

I think that's why so many people liked it. It probably shows a more realistic portrayal of detective work, undermined by office politics and legal meddling. And underfunding.

On the Guardian threads called Series Recap which has a lot of dedicated fans they are known as "the blunder cops".

I found series 1-3 hard going - very gory. But appreciated having seen them for some of the continuing story lines in following series.

And the filming and direction gets better and better.

On one level it is a photgraphic love letter to Paris.

I heard about this from MN and with great commitment and dedication I’m almost at the end of series 4
God I love this , I speak french so it’s been brilliant to get me back to speed
And I love them all by now
Top crush is samy
Having him back in S4 is a delight
Also really liking Pierre and redhead
I’m kind of rooting for them
Great series

And yes it totally reminds me that work everywhere is political , competitive and In this case corrupt
Also love Roban

Thisisworsethananticpated · 05/03/2021 22:20

-watching from the beginning, on series 3 now. I'm getting very distracted by Roban's blow dries and increasingly purple hair

I watched when I had my hair done and my hairdresser was appalled by roban ‘women hair’

Anyway I better stop as I’m earlier than everyone here

Its a bit confusing as there are a number of different threads on Spiral from a few months ago.

This one, and the one for series 8 www.mumsnet.com/Talk/telly_addicts/4123429-Spiral-Series-8-BBC-4-from-2-January-2020-Week-by-week-no-spoilers-please

And this one www.mumsnet.com/Talk/telly_addicts/4137333-Spiral-is-it-worth-watching

And if you are really keen you can use the advanced search option and find the threads from when each series were first shown!

There are a lot!

Having just watched season 1 ( last one for me, and I skipped season 3 out of principle as I couldn’t take the parade of gruesome prostitute murders), can I post some questions, a.though maybe there’s no clear answer.
Does Laborde get away with it ? ( someone on a thread somewhere said he gets arrested in a subsequent series)
Who is the dead man in the bag at the end of the last episode ( it’s been suggested he’s the child murdering auctioneer from season 8.

Certainly very different feel from the later episodes, I think spiral definitely got better and production values sharpened up as it went along.
