Previous thread

I'm not sure 9 pages will last us, so I'm getting prepared a bit early! Check the last thread first before posting here — we might still be over there.

Thank God she’s gone. Johannes looked terrified when she reached up to him.

Claudia looked like she was ready for a part in Rita, Sue and Bob too. Both the dress and shoes are so early 80’s...maybe fashion is coming back around.

SequinsandStiIettos · 22/11/2020 20:34

I hated Caroline's cha cha (I might have said it several times) but
a) I didn't want her to leave on it. I think JJ should have gone.
b) I don't see that Jojo hates her remotely. Just not seeing what some of you are. If anything he looked distraught to be going out on a CCC again and emotional at her leaving the comp

Maisie did not deserve to be bottom two - having not had a bottom two bounce this week, she needs a better tune next week. I am rooting for her to be a Dance Off Assassin, cackle while flicking the Vs at the public and take out all remaining contestants one at a time

JJ to leave next week, Scottish vote way too obvious a ploy.

As for Tony Beak we had him being molested a bit in Katie's salsa, having his bum squeezed in Susannah's samba, a bit of frottage in Lesley's cha cha (but not as Dorien Green as expected tbf). Then Ruthie of course fell on him accidentally-on-purpose and did that.

I think tbh that because Anton makes himself the butt of the joke a lot and is ballroom gent rather than latin lothario, he isn't seen by anyone to be sexual enough to either be a threat or for his partner to be serious about shagging him Wink
So althugh the comedy shtick isn't that far off, it was less sexual harrassment and more Oh Tony's doing comedy to cover up his own or his partner's weaknesses in latin.

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 22/11/2020 20:34

Sorry for your orchid-woe Schaden!

Mylittlephonyy · 22/11/2020 20:35

I wonder if Maisie being in the bottom just comes down to the fact that the TikTok teenagers who follow her on there are not watching strictly whereas everyone else’s fan bases are the type who watch it anyway. But then that theory goes out the window when you bring HRVY into it 😂

Maireas · 22/11/2020 20:36

Sorry to hear about your orchid, Schaden. Daffodil

tenlittlecygnets · 22/11/2020 20:38

Do people really think that CQ and Johannes didn't get on? I thought it looked like they really did. I know they all have to say it was a wonderful journey and they have a friend for life, but I thought they genuinely seemed to get on.

Maireas · 22/11/2020 20:40

I thought Caroline seemed a bit odd and distant, maybe she was relieved to go.

Poshjock · 22/11/2020 20:40

Talking of cats, as @SchadenfreudePersonified was...

I noticed on the second time CQ danced instead of Johannes putting the cat up to prevent the kiss, he went for the kiss himself. I thought that was sweet of him.

Ellmau · 22/11/2020 20:42

Poor Maisie, she must be getting virtually no votes.

Maireas · 22/11/2020 20:42

Maisie should have a good following, being on EastEnders, that's a big audience there.

Mylittlephonyy · 22/11/2020 20:43

I thought Caroline was fuming and that’s why she was being so odd. She thought she would win.

Florabritannica · 22/11/2020 20:45

Like lots of others here, I really wanted to love Caroline but found her increasingly toe-curling.
Maisie on the other hand I disapproved of straight away as a ringer, but am now feeling no one who dances that well deserves to be in the dance-off twice in a row.
Ex-stage school bimbettes do find it hard (as Craig portentously out it) to win the hearts and souls of the nation - I’m thinking Pixie Lott, Kara Tointon et al. - but Maisie for some reason seems to be attracting particular oppobrium.

jomaIone · 22/11/2020 20:46

She didn't lick his arm but she did bite his chin!!!!

I saw the flinch, it was so super awkward. I'm glad she has gone, she's was over the top, insincere and so full of herself. Those gurns. Can't stand her.

awaynboilyurheid · 22/11/2020 20:47

Oh thank goodness Caroline’s out I really got criticism when I said what a pain she was at the beginning of SCD but knew it from the start.

GrouchyKiwi · 22/11/2020 20:48

People see what they want to see, I guess.

The only clearcut case of a pro loathing their celeb, IMO, was Aliona with Gregg Wallace, and I couldn't blame her for that.

derxa · 22/11/2020 20:49

@SchadenfreudePersonified

I didn't see the flinch - missed most of the dance because my f*cking cat knocked down and broke the flower spike off my best orchid!. By the time I'd cleared up most of it was over.

I hate that bloody cat! The number of times I've sat and gently washed his wounds when the little bastard comes in after being in a fight, and picked up half eaten rabbits from under the table, and tempted his appetite with bits of chicken when he's being fussy, and the little sod does this.

There is so little to bring me joy in my life at the moment, and my orchids do. But now this one doesn't - it's bliddy ruined!

the80sweregreat · 22/11/2020 20:49

Gregg was creepy with Aliona.
That was a long time ago now!

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords · 22/11/2020 20:50

@Mylittlephonyy

I wonder if Maisie being in the bottom just comes down to the fact that the TikTok teenagers who follow her on there are not watching strictly whereas everyone else’s fan bases are the type who watch it anyway. But then that theory goes out the window when you bring HRVY into it 😂
Lots of them don't have a fanbase before Strictly though, so something about them needs to connect with the voters. Lots of people on here, for example, didn't know Clara but enjoy her enthusiasm, with Jamie people are changing their minds about him because he's giving it his all and loving it, and apparently people are voting for JJ just because he was in the forces, so it doesn't matter if he is any good. Unfortunately for Maisie she seems to be quite good, but doesn't really excite people.
SequinsandStiIettos · 22/11/2020 20:53

It's always annoyed me because with the right outfit or music, and the right aged partner, I reckon Tony could be sexed up a bit. I say it every year, stick him in his fuchsia pink latin shirt and I'll give it a go! Grin
Whereas stick me with a young dancer and it could end up looking like a tacky grab a granny routine. I would have refused to have done Jojo's ccc as choreoed on that basis alone.
Pamela with James were amazing - I know she said various cringy things irl but on stage they were fab and I cannot remember any choreo that set her up.
There's 25 years between Bill and Oti and 27 years between Caroline and Jojo. She wanted to dance and not be a comedy stooge so I was amazed she had that routine. I can't think of another older pro, younger partner routine that made me have such a visceral reaction -even with Paul Daniels/Ola was respectful iirc and didn't gyrate round him like she normally did with those that couldn't dance.
Then take Gio and Debbie - not played for laughs, no magician assistant bullshittery, most cougary was the postman routine maybe.
Maybe Caroline played it up as a thespian, maybe she went all out for laughs but I am sad she went out on it.
Gregg Wallace and Aliona was the only other one where it felt a bit off.

Mylittlephonyy · 22/11/2020 20:56

That’s a good point about them needing to connect with viewers @ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords ! I hadn’t thought about it like that before even though I didn’t like Jamie before strictly but since Hercules week we’ve been voting for him because him and Karen are a lot of fun.

GrouchyKiwi · 22/11/2020 21:02

I'd like Maisie to do a quickstep next week. They're always fun, she'll be good at it, and if they make it charming enough - old school class and elegance - it might be the thing she needs to get the public onside. Two party latins in a row hasn't helped.

emilybrontescorsett · 22/11/2020 21:03

I feel sorry for Maisie, she must be gutted knowing the public don't like her. I think there is a lot of sexism where a young man can get away with things a young woman can't.
Same with JJ he is rubbish and has the personality of a soggy lettuce yet he is still in the competition. If he was a woman people would be slagging him off.
Maisie is better than Harvey. I don't care if she has danced before so what.
I'm fed up of average men winning rather than talented women.
Debbie Magee should have won so should Zoe Ball.
My ex MIL always voted for men regardless as she "Wanted a man to win."

Florabritannica · 22/11/2020 21:06

I haven’t seen so badly misjudged a routine since Colin, Erin and the Dummies.

FuzzyPuffling · 22/11/2020 21:07

Schady I am so sorry about your orchid. But if you put in in a frock and bung it on strictly next year, it will get a massive sympathy vote.

Skipsurvey · 22/11/2020 21:10

hrvy get's the votes from the mothers,
do young people even watch strictly?
