Previous thread

I'm not sure 9 pages will last us, so I'm getting prepared a bit early! Check the last thread first before posting here — we might still be over there.

Awww. I actually don't mind Bruno.
I think he just fancied staying in LA. And why not?

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/cnrWl4B9tSlKtHXT13Ymww/vote-for-strictlys-most-memorable-moments

To those who asked, the poll was ages ago, ahead of the specials and for anyone to vote but the choice was limited (yes, Danny's samba and Jay's jive were there and yes, Janette's Troll cha cha was there which Monkseal voted for in protest at the shortlistGrin)
In the link above it claims a list of 25 unforgettable routines, assembled by a panel of Strictly alumni and superfans Hmm didn't ask me, did they Wink

I think he just fancied the pool boy in LA Wink

And why not? Got to be better being locked down in LA than in Britain! Grin

They are jealous of your expertise, Sequins - it's a very ugly emotion . . . Angry

covetingthepreciousthings · 28/11/2020 09:47

Is there any chance of Anton being on the panel tonight so there's four judges..?
I've missed the last few ITT's so not sure if it's been mentioned.

Maireas · 28/11/2020 09:49

No, Motsi is back.

ppeatfruit · 28/11/2020 09:51

Yes EvilRingah Interestingly other channels show very OLD programmes like Dad's Army, Dinner Ladies etc. without worrying about the tecchie quality of the picture.

The BEEB should get over itself and show the old Come Dancing programmes on BEEB4 or somewhere. I say we all tell them on twitter that's what we want (not me because I'm not on twitter but I'll email them if I can.)

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 28/11/2020 10:20

ppeatfruit
That’s a good idea.
I got into Strictly at the start of series 3, after seeing the Christmas special series 2, and haven’t missed an episode since, but having a brain like a sieve I’d love to watch the old series again, right the way through in sequence; I wouldn’t remember who was going until the dance off - and sometimes not even then. As pp said, it would have been a great antidote to lockdown torpor, or simply to have it all available on iplay for whenever you want to relive an old series. It’s not the same, watching random dances on you tube and the compilation programmes don’t cut it by a long chalk.

ppeatfruit · 28/11/2020 10:45

Yes it would be brilliant esp. when this year's Strictly and Xmas is over!

On ITT last night; did anyone else notice that Gethin interviewed the geeky bloke responsible for all the SPECIAL EFFECTS they're going in for now? Why o why do they feel that it's necessary????

Oh and that 'drag artiste' on the panel (I'm not keen on the pantomimic representation of women becoming mainstream tbh) Sorry Blush

the80sweregreat · 28/11/2020 10:55

Craig was nice last night on ITT : he can be a bit of a softie when he wants to be.

I agree with you ppeatfruit

Turned ITT off as soon as the Panel item was introduced. The BBC certainly seems to be pursuing an agenda as far as drag is concerned. As a feminist, it’s a hard NO from me.

ShirleyPhallus · 28/11/2020 15:26

Maisie’s mum in the press today saying she’s vulnerable and missing her parents in the audience. I wonder how much Maisie would agree with this!

awaynboilyurheid · 28/11/2020 15:28

Oh no Anton as judge tonight? Back to Motsi screeching you Go girl you brought Energeeeee! I'll miss Anton as a judge.

IntermittentParps · 28/11/2020 15:35

BigBad, indeed Grin

I would actually like to watch an interview with 'the geeky bloke' about the special effects. I think behind-the-scenes stuff is fascinating. See also recent newspaper interview with the illustrator who draws the bakes on the Bake Off.

IntermittentParps · 28/11/2020 15:36

PS they could have Anton as a fourth judge for the final, surely? 'Back by popular demand'...

Maireas · 28/11/2020 15:38

Not my popular demand. I thought Anton was surprisingly inarticulate and uninformative.

BigBadVoodooHat · 28/11/2020 15:38

A pre-emptive strike against dance-off #3?

I don’t watch EE so I don’t know much about Maisie, but I’ve seen mention of her mum being very ‘pushy’ and lobbying hard to get Maisie on the main show after CiN. She certainly pops up with regularity.

ChoccyJules · 28/11/2020 16:19

I caught Maisie and Gorks being interviewed on the radio yesterday, can’t remember which programme but I did think it was part of a PR push to get them a few more votes.

A huge proportion of drake is very misogynistic. It's often missed in the "humour", but when you watch with a critical eye, it's there. And much of is is very nasty.

Maireas · 28/11/2020 17:34

"Blu Hydrangea" or similar will no doubt appear as a celeb on Strictly next year.

BigBadVoodooHat · 28/11/2020 18:06

Yes, I reckon next year’s same sex couple will be a drag act dancing in costume - I think Courtney Act did the Australian version.

You’d likely need a pretty tall male pro for that - is Gio the tallest now?

Maireas · 28/11/2020 18:09

Johannes is tall as well. I was thinking he'd partner a male at some point.

IntermittentParps · 28/11/2020 18:13

Is Aljaz tall?
Actually, I saw Anton in RL once, in the audience at a play, and he was surprisingly tall and surprisingly handsome

BigBadVoodooHat · 28/11/2020 18:14

Interestingly, he did dance as a man on the show too

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.billboard.com/amp/articles/news/pride/8507196/courtney-act-dancing-with-the-stars-dance-britney-spears-toxic

I’m not a fan of drag (very much agree with the above comments), but I reckon it’d be worth having a drag act on SCD just to see what HORRORS wardrobe inflicts on them! Grin

BigBadVoodooHat · 28/11/2020 18:15

I can’t even begin to fathom the levels of camp such a pairing might scale! Shock
