I've watched all the above plus:

Strike -oooh bit of a lust thing going on thereBlush

Frost

Poirot

George Gently

Broadchurch

Unforgotten

Cracker (so long ago now but I remember it being very tense. I was 18 when that came out I think. I'm old).

I didn't like the Detectorists

I like the daytime things like Shakespeare and Hathaway, Murder, She Wrote, Columbo etc. but want a good series to get stuck into on these dark nights. Nothing that will have me jumping at shadows too much because I'm not brave Grin

Another ITV drama, have you seen Amnesia (2004)? Just checked and it's on YouTube

Oh yes this is a lovely programme & the Beiderbecke Affair is droll was another one with Peter Davison might have been called The Last Detective or something along those lines, was very good as well.

Rosemary and Thyme?

Residentdove2020 · 15/11/2020 14:01

Great thread Op! Thought I'd seen them all (at least once Wink) but I've picked up a couple of new ones. No Sky or Britbox here.

My contribution: Jack Taylor!

Residentdove2020 · 15/11/2020 14:14

Further afield:
Bones: U.S.
The Sandhamn Murders: Sweden.

Was excited when I found a new one Smile Gracepoint. Then realised it was starting to feel familiar but not, iyswim ConfusedBlush

RigaBalsam · 15/11/2020 16:44

Blue Murder with Caroline Quentin.

goteam · 15/11/2020 17:14

Does anyone know where you can watch the old Silent Witness series? Pre Emilia Fox? I keep hoping Netflix will show them...

They did used to be on drama, haven’t seen it listed for a while though.
goteam · 15/11/2020 17:21

Thanks @dontcallmelen I really prefer the old ones. Prime Suspect was on Netflix a few years ago!

midsomermurderess · 15/11/2020 20:35

Iain Glenn's accent in Jack Taylor though is so bad it's distracting: it slips and slides all over the place.

Doctor Blake Mysteries

@Tyzz

Hinterland = Welsh version of Shetland. George Gently = beautifully done 60s crime drama. Foyle's War = 1940s crime drama Endeavour = 1960s crime Agatha Raison = similar to Shakespeare and Hathaway, lightweight crime comedy. Grantchester more 60s crime featuring Jamie Dornan. The Coroner = daytime crime drama, really engaging but sadly no more made.
Jamie Dornan is not in Grantchester....
Judashascomeintosomemoney · 16/11/2020 08:17

Oh how I loved Hinterland!
Which reminds me...
Un Bore Mercher (it was called Keeping Faith in England)

Tyzz · 16/11/2020 19:28

@Elderflower14 oops sorry meant James Norton!

Caeruleanblue · 18/11/2020 05:44

Do you get TPTV channel (Talking Pictures TV) - we have it as we have Sky. There are lots of 1970/80s series - at a glance The Gentle Touch, Hazell, Dick Barton Special Agent etc

Autumncolourlover · 20/11/2020 20:13

I've still not got round to watching any of these but I'm hoping too soon. Definitely in the Christmas holidays if not before.

I love that!

I hated Caroline Quentin in Men Behaving Badly so avoided Blue Murder but watched an episode and really liked it.
