edam, I am

I still feel so sorry for Harry over that [SPOILER WARNING CALI] Ruth business...

Mij · 17/10/2007 15:55

Was it my imagination or has everything suddenly BEEN WRITTEN IN CAPITALS WITH IT ALL BEING AN INTERNATIONAL DISASTER WITHIN MINUTES?

I liked it a bit more parochial.

But then I also liked it more with Matthew Macfadyen, but I'm an old fashioned girl. Although not so old fashioned I wouldn't have said no to Keeley Hawes, too...

Nothing, repeat, nothing, on TV or film shocked me as much as the deep fat fryer moment. And I used to work in the blooming business, thought I was imune.

And somehow I'm still watching. Must have something to do with my teen addiction to John le Carre.

edam · 17/10/2007 15:58

deep fat fryer was particularly un-nerving, I agree.

Also preferred MM - such soulful eyes. RPJ is eye-candy, MM was better as the hero. Mind you, I still miss Danny and whatsherface. And Ruth.

alycat · 17/10/2007 16:40

I am obviously particularly hardened (not really)or forgetful as cannot remember (more likely)the deep fat fryer incident?

PatsyCline · 17/10/2007 18:22

I came to Spooks late in the day (last series) and ended up having to buy/rent all of the previous series to catch up. God, I was in deep (very ill child, no social life possible = Spooks as perfect escapism).
I still feel that the Matthew/Keely period was perfection. Fab cast and excellent writing.

I too love the fact that no cast member no matter how talented and/or sexy is safe.

Mij · 17/10/2007 19:27

Ah yes, I miss the stiff upper lip, unparalleled conscience and superior intellect of the lovely Ruth. Poor Harry. Just not fair. Hermione Norris can spend her hours down the gym so she can hurl herself around deepest Sussex and glower, but I appreciated Ruth's beautifully toned mind.

PatsyCline · 17/10/2007 19:44

Ruth was indeed a marvellous woman.

Angeliz · 17/10/2007 19:45

Shit i missed it. Is it repeated? (What bbc channel?)

mumblechum · 17/10/2007 20:09

Bump, I missed it too. Anyone know when it's repeated?

scampadoodle · 17/10/2007 22:47

Yes, Ruth was FAR more interesting than the Hermione Norris character (can't even remember her name).

alycat · 18/10/2007 09:12

Finally watched it last night, like a teenage girl I had to rewind and replay a little bit a couple of times

I say, rather a pleasant posterior Mt PJ!

auntyspanonherbroomstick · 18/10/2007 09:54

I never go for blonds and I think RPJ is just wonderful.
There's nothing like a sexy man about to die of a bio-chemical induced fever to get my hormones going

someone tell me Zaff hasn't been bumped off? (missed the BBC Three episode)

ChipButty · 18/10/2007 13:03

EPI 2 SPOILER - LOOK AWAY NOW! DON'T SCROLL DOWN UNLESS YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TO ZAF!

Zaf is still alive - he has been kidnapped to use as leverage for the nasty people to get their own way!

ChipButty · 18/10/2007 13:08

By the way, the delectable Rupert Penry-Jones's father is Peter Penry-Jones, probably most famous for his role in Colditz, although I think he has done bits in stuff like Poirot and Morse more recently. I think Rupert looks a lot like his Mum.

I'm glas to know that there are plenty of other Rupert fans on here. The girls on his forum can be a bit intense (getting hysterical about the fact he may be married etc!!)

Do you think Rupert waxes his bum? I'm so used to seeing my DH's hairy one that I'd forgotten what they are supposed to look like!!! xx

iCodtheBlogCod · 18/10/2007 13:08

hermiones earlobes

ChipButty · 18/10/2007 13:08

GLAD not glas

florenceuk · 18/10/2007 13:20

so are the nasty people MI6 or the israelis (seem to be the top two miscreants in Spookland)?

ChipButty · 18/10/2007 13:49

We're not sure yet - it seems the French are involved somehow!

scampadoodle · 18/10/2007 15:05

Was just reading Nov's Easy Living & RPJ is married to Dervla Kirwan! I had no idea! (I'm not being a 'hysterical girl' as I don't actually fancy him, I just didn't know & am surprised - don't know why)

auntyspanonherbroomstick · 18/10/2007 15:31

is she dark haired one from...ermmmm the scottish glen program.... ?? Pretty? bitch

alycat · 18/10/2007 15:37

Was the pretty dark haired one from some prog set in Ireland.

(look I keep trying out the strike out thing and it doesn't work for me, why no???? Am I using en rules instead of hypens or something???)

ShrinkingViolet · 18/10/2007 15:44

Ballykissangel, plu she does the voiceovers for the "these aren't just any ads, these are M&S ads" ads.

ChipButty · 18/10/2007 16:46

They've been together 6 years and have 2 children together. I guess, when you think about it, a lot of couples meet at work, don't they?

Pannacotta · 18/10/2007 16:54

I used to like him until I read him proudly saying how he and his DW followed the lovely Gina Ford regime wsith their DCs.... NOw am not sure sure, but Zaf is quite a pretty boy

auntyspanonherbroomstick · 18/10/2007 22:44

I don't think I've ever heard it described as the "lovely GF routine" before

Well I can imagine he needs lots of free time to tone up those buns of steel
