You can base an American Smooth on the different ballroom dances.

It looks like Into the Unknown is in 12/8 though, so you can cut the bar in half (two 6/8s) for VW, or into 4 fir foxtrot. I thought it sounded a bit weird when it went big band-y, but I don't know the song well.
