He had decided this year would be his last for a lot of reasons I think, he got tired, he felt he was writing the same things every year, wordpress was going to charge for polls etc. Then covid happened and he didn't want his last year to be laughing at a Strictly when everyone is under pressure in such difficult circumstances.
