I adored him. Especially as the Ben in Butterflies. He saw a good age and went in his sleep. All we can hope for but still I'm sad.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 06/11/2020 14:30

Sorry to hear this. I lived him in Butterflies too

wellthatsunusual · 06/11/2020 14:31

I thought he was such a good comedy actor. So deadpan.

Graphista · 06/11/2020 14:35

Oh how sad! Loved him in "as time goes by" among many other things.

He seemed a lovely man.

93 is a pretty good innings though.

AdoptedBumpkin · 06/11/2020 14:45

Very sad to read this. He was fabulous in As Time Goes By.

HadEnoughOfBears · 06/11/2020 14:49

As Time Goes By was (is) one of my favourite programs. RIP

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 06/11/2020 14:52

I dreamt I had lunch with him a couple of weeks ago. Totally random. It was a nice lunch.

Samcro · 06/11/2020 14:52

Such a fantastic face and talent.

isitsnowingyet · 06/11/2020 15:26

That's sad - great actor and very funny.

On Fawlty Towers - 'I'm a doctor and I want my sausages!'

Classic

AsTimeGoesBy · 06/11/2020 15:31

I have had to revive an old username for today. I thought he was a great actor, Butterflies is one of my all time favourite comedies. RIP.

missyB1 · 06/11/2020 15:37

Oh no he was such a brilliant actor! Butterflies was filmed in the town where I live. I walk my dog past the house and in the park where Wendy Craig would meet her man by the duck pond.

purpleme12 · 06/11/2020 15:39

Aww I know I used to love watching As Time Goes By when I was little 😞

HeatherAndSand · 06/11/2020 15:41

Oh yes. Leonard in the park. Different times.

HeatherAndSand · 06/11/2020 15:44

'Love is like a butterfly, as soft and gentle as a sigh...'

missyB1 · 06/11/2020 15:59

Is it me but we seemed to have funnier and more enjoyable tv in those days. No reality tv, and good family shows like Butterflies / The Good Life / Fawlty Towers.

HemlockStarglimmer · 06/11/2020 16:03

I had quite a crush on him. 😢

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 06/11/2020 16:11

Aww, he was bloody marvellous! My personal favourite was as Jimmy in Reginald Perrin. RIP
