Will anyone be watching? I’m quite looking forward to it! Will be different with it not being in Australia this year. I haven’t heard anything about who is going in, has anyone?

I've looked on Twitter and nothing about Vernon. Unless I'm looking in the wrong place! Twitter is horrible though.
People can be really vile on there!

covetingthepreciousthings · 18/11/2020 16:25

twitter.com/garypounder/status/1328820629169123329?s=21

It was this one & one below in the comments, but to be fair they aren't that damning and the first one could well have been tweeted in jest..

'Did he call you quarter? 😃! '
I didn't know Vernon was on radio one once : seems too trendy for him!

JaneJeffer · 18/11/2020 16:36

I'm surprised anyone got the name Gary Pounder wrong Grin

PimlicoJo · 18/11/2020 16:38

I've met Vernon Kay (in a work capacity). He was very nice and pleasant to deal with. Came across as very genuine.

unique1986 · 18/11/2020 16:41

I didn't know Vernon was on radio one once : seems too trendy for him!

He did Saturday Mid Mornings last I heard-

I felt it was the right time to leave
Vernon Kay
"It has been a fabulous experience and I've loved the weekends I have spent with my listeners," said Vernon.

"However, when I was offered a contract extension I thought long and hard, but after 12 years of working weekends with CBBC, T4 and Radio 1 I felt it was the right time to leave."

Hmm I assumed he was axed as getting older and less cool.

the80sweregreat · 18/11/2020 16:41

Divas eh? Everywhere in show biz.
I get my own children's names wrong so I can sympathize a bit here! ( I am old though , so I do have an excuse)
They was funny though ; I had to explain it to my Dh and it became lost in translation..
I was cracking up.

unique1986 · 18/11/2020 16:43

^ No idea what all that text is above oops...

Theromanempire · 18/11/2020 16:44

@JaneJeffer

He's lovely. I'm a sucker for a Yorkshire accent!
Grin his accent is about as East Lancashire (I.e Burnley) as you can get, it is an insult to us Lancastrians to call it a Yorkshire accent Shock
the80sweregreat · 18/11/2020 16:44

Interesting text though! Lol 😂
I remember all of those things.
Yeah, he put out a ' thought long and hard ' statement when really he was axed!

JaneJeffer · 18/11/2020 16:49

Sorry @Theromanempire I know it's a grave error on my part Blush I did attempt to correct myself Grin

the80sweregreat · 18/11/2020 16:51

Jordon has a nice accent ! Wherever his from .. 😃
( I've an Essex accent and it's nicer than that )

JaneJeffer · 18/11/2020 16:54

He was born in York!

JaneJeffer · 18/11/2020 16:55

@unique1986 I've just seen your post PMSL Grin

GuillermoVanHelsing · 18/11/2020 16:57

I didn't think his accent is that Burnley-ish really?

Or should I say Burrunleh Grin

Theromanempire · 18/11/2020 17:21

Wikipedia tells me he grew up in Burnley till he was 11...I assume he moved from York at a very early age. I moved to Lancashire at 4 and a half and I absolutely have a Lancashire accent.

It is definitely a Burnley accent Smile

JaneJeffer · 18/11/2020 17:24

I'm also a sucker for a Lancashire accent Grin

woodhill · 18/11/2020 17:50

@LemonBreeland

Yes AJ was probably chosen for looks. He left Strictly to do TV work with his brother, but that doesn't seem to have worked out, so now he is trying this to up his profile again.

Russell Watson will cause arguments from the off. It's putting me off watching tbh. I can't even look at his smug face without being annoyed.

Yes he was on the pop quiz programme last Saturday and him and Curtis were not great at music knowledge
mnahmnah · 18/11/2020 18:26

But Vernon WAS cool once. It all went wrong after the sexting. He first became known through a reality modelling show. Can’t remember what it was called. But the modelling led to T4, Radio 1 etc. He is good to look at and is coming across nice. But I just don’t want to like someone who did what he did with a wife and kids. Even though his wife is well-known for being unpleasant too

the80sweregreat · 18/11/2020 19:04

They probably are all a bit unpleasant underneath it all , most people are to be honest. Read a celebrity thread on here and most of them come off badly.
On reality shows you rarely get the real person.
(Unless it is lady Colin or Gillian Mckeith : they showed their real personalities on this and wasn't fake at all ! It's a rare thing! )

JayAlfredPrufrock · 18/11/2020 19:44

We are all multi faceted.

My neighbours hate me.

My friends love me.

🤷‍♀️

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 18/11/2020 19:51

There was a right little gossip huddle ahead of the R&R comment - Shane, Jess and Gi all went serious and chatty, then Shane said the R&R comment.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 18/11/2020 20:18

My favourites so far in order are Jordan, Vernon, Mo, Shane, Bev and Victoria.

Giovanna is too perky, it riles me. I guess it's because her kids will be watching which means she's conscious the whole time of putting on an act.

AJ is not coming across well and I bet he regrets his decision to leave strictly so soon. I hope they take him back if he wants too because he's good on there. Nothing wrong with trying something different.

I feel uncomfortable with the idea of Russell joining them after having gone through his brain surgery. I find him quite funny though and haven't seen a bad side to him although he does come across at times as though the surgery has affected him

unique1986 · 18/11/2020 21:10

Ok I'm not liking Bev.

GuillermoVanHelsing · 18/11/2020 21:11

Lol at the Lidl joke saga Grin

Did Vernon just call Giovanna, Giovanno?
