Anne Diamond on Jeremy Vine

I’ve got the telly on whilst I WFH, having a bit of a plodding day, and Anne Diamond is filling in for Jeremy Vine on his current affairs show.

She is such a good presenter. She doesn’t patronise the audience or her guests and strikes the right balance between intelligent and accessible. I wonder why she isn’t on telly more often?

I love AD she's an unsung hero imo.
He'd work with sids has saved so many babies lives.

Anne Diamond for PM!

TheQueef · 27/10/2020 10:11

Her not he'd.

coldwinternightsbrrr · 27/10/2020 10:14

I love Anne Diamond. I wish she had made the honours list for her all her hard work in regards to cot death awareness and campaigning.
She should also get an honour for her presenting/broadcasting work. She is just as good as Lorraine.

Iamthewombat · 27/10/2020 10:22

Crikey, I would choose her over the godforsaken Lorraine any day!

She's way better than Jeremy Vine. She doesn't cut people off that she doesn't agree with.

LizzieMacQueen · 27/10/2020 10:29

She's got the experience hasn't she from presenting daytime shows. Anne Diamond and Nick Owen. (Had to look that up, thought it was Nick Ross).

Hopegrows54 · 27/10/2020 10:36

I prefer Anne Diamond as a presenter than Jeremy Vine...will watch the show with her presenting. And agree her work in broadcasting and cot death awareness should be awarded. An intelligent, genuine and warm presenter.

TheQueef · 27/10/2020 10:37

She's a great presenter but she committed the uniquely female cardinal sin.
She got fat.

coldwinternightsbrrr · 27/10/2020 11:16

I would even go as far to say that she would be great at having her own show.
Maybe replace the Loose Women slot on Itv with the Anne Diamond show.
She could obviously front it and have guest female panelist's. So still quite similar to Loose Women but have a slightly more serious angle.

augustusglupe · 27/10/2020 11:19

Haven't watched for ages, usually have Ken on Radio 2 now.
I used to love watching Vine on 5 when Anne presents. I'll pop it on for a bit now. Agree that she should have some sort of an honour.
I remember Anne & Nick. Ainsley started out on that show doing the cooking.

Iamthewombat · 27/10/2020 11:21

Anything not to have to listen to Stacey Solomon, Nadia Sawalha and Andrea McLean. Talk about dumbing down. I don’t know how the cleverer panellists (Jane Moore, Kaye Adams) stand it. Maybe that is why Janet Street Porter left!

Hate LW.
What about AD presenting with Steph McGovern and Victoria Derbyshire?
All nolans banned.

showmethegin · 27/10/2020 11:36

I love Ann diamond but the other day she said Manchester was the second city! It's bloody Birmingham

TheQueef · 27/10/2020 13:49

I often think when I read threads with young mums that the babies she saved are having their own babies now still benefiting from AD campaign.

R.I.P. Sebastian your death saved so many.

Hopegrows54 · 27/10/2020 14:16

I’d love her to have her own programme on ITV....Agree Loose women has gone down hill.

PoloNeckKnickers · 27/10/2020 16:56

Was Loose Women ever up the hill?
I used to like the Anne Diamond / Nick Owen show.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 27/10/2020 16:59

Love Anne, she is an unsung hero. Fab presenter. She saved so many babies lives. She needs recognition for that.

Agree - how JV ever got this show is a mystery to me. He is rude to callers, plays silly children's games, doesn't bother to do researcher and derails discussion to talk about his own, infantile, ideas!

Saw Anne Diamond last week and it reminded me it could be an interesting show, just because she didn't act like a prima donna and did the job.

Didn't realise she was on again this week. Dont have time to watch the whole show but might try and tune in for a bit.

Generally though since they sacked MW the programme has drifted to the right and become very tabloidy so avoid it. Something to do with wanting to attract more older viewers. What a cliche, to think all old people are right wing!

eggandonion · 27/10/2020 20:09

Her back to sleep campaign was just before I had my first baby. I liked Anneand Nick better than Richard and Judy.

Probably not, to be fair 🙂

It’s weird because I don’t get the impression that JV is right wing at all. I think he’s liberal.

Obviously he’s impartial because he works for the BBC. But on C5 he a bit more open.

Sakesman · 27/10/2020 21:10

Yeah I like her. I love all the clever 50+ presenters. It’s their wisdom and empathy I crave. Life is pretty scary and crap at the moment and it’s their wisdom and empathy I crave. I have no idea why they aren’t more promoted.

Disfordarkchocolate · 27/10/2020 21:12

She's so much better than Jeremy Vine but somehow the dull middle aged men keep on getting the jobs.

Jv is a complete twat I miss MW so much

I think Anne Diamond is great too. She is bright, intelligent, kind and caring.
Her SIDS campaigning was inspirational especially after going through it herself, so selfless to do that when she must have been going through hell.
