I dont know much about JV and was left speechless when I heard he is if not the highest one of the highest paid BBC presenters.
And whether he is right wing or not he has shown that despite his existing work he has taken on a show he actually doens't have time for, because of his BBC show, so part of it is prerecorded, but worse still has taken the job left vacant by someone who stood up for journalistic principles.
I thought MW was a bit full of himself, but was well informed and able to have both ends of the spectrum of politics on the show.
But JV has basically sold his journalistic credentials for what is (lets face it) a not very significant programme.
And in terms of content it has gone really right wing, and he has allowed really racist callers to go unchallenged. And his comments are quite just tabloid false interpretation of events.
And half the time he dumbs it down to play childish games.
It almost car crash tv, but also really interesting because someone whether JV himself, or ITN who produce it, have decided that either C5 viewers aren't very high on the intellectual scale, or they genuinelly think this is what older viewers want.
Its a bit sad I know (about me!) but I have really tried to work out what they thought they were doing when they have so rejigged the show.
It is a shame with they were looking for a "more mature" presenter that they didn't think Anne Diamond should get the position.
As said above. It is always the same old mediocre men who get the jobs.
