Ahhh yes, sorry. I meant 4 people, 2 couples.

Place marking although I'm very close to MAFS overload....

Honeypickle · 07/10/2020 09:58

Just found you all! Just watching it this morning. Michelle’s mum seems devastated. Yay for camper van love! All seems promising so far . . .
Not sure it’s going to match the thrills of MAFS Australia seasons 4 and 5 though!

LadyEloise · 07/10/2020 10:07

When was it filmed ?
Can you imagine Michelle's pupils and / or their parents watching it Smile

I think the couples are more "ordinary" or down to earth than those on the Aussie one.

It feels different to previous MAFS on Channel 4.
Less of the fame wannabes that some of the previous participants were.
Perhaps it's the change of matchmakers.
I hope they do better than the last ones who never got it right. Smile

Verdita73 · 07/10/2020 10:15

@SchadenfreudePersonified

These look really nice "ordinary attractive" IYSWIM people. They look really nice people that you could be comfortable with, but they aren't botoxed and glamourised up to the eyeballs with 2inch fingernails and enormous cleavages on the women, and designer stubble and tattoos and musclebound bodies on the men.

I would love to think that they could at least form really fond friendships, even if they don't get carried away on the wings of love.

I must say that when I started watching MAFS Australia season 4 I was really surprised by the men and women , their clothes , lifestyles and attitudes .

I had always thought Australians were much like the English ( shows what I know ) especially those who live in the countryside .

After three series I got quite used to the nails/talons , protruding lips , fake boobs and screeching women ; muscle bound , tatt covered men .

Now I’m finding the UK series a little odd - especially as I’m hopping between MAFS Australia 22 and UK 1 .

I’m thinking like John Ixpert ( really got to like him after his interventions) - it’s doing moi head in . Confused

thenightsky · 07/10/2020 11:39

I only watch the UK versions. I hate the others as they all look so fake.

lynsey91 · 07/10/2020 12:11

I can't see that all episodes are available to watch.

Never sure how I feel about this programme. I think they must be mad to even think about marrying someone they have never met. Also as someone who takes marriage and the vows made seriously I do feel it makes light of marriage especially as none of the ones in the UK have worked

Egghead68 · 07/10/2020 12:17

All 4 episodes are available on the All4 app.

InfiniteSheldon · 07/10/2020 12:18

Placemarking and very excited as dd's boyfriends friends girlfriends brother is on. Can't work out who yet but the boyfriends friends sister features as some point and I've nearly been in the same room her GrinGrinGrin

Egghead68 · 07/10/2020 12:21

I think some of the Oz people were quite normal eg Susan and her partner is S4, Simon and his partner is S4, NP John in S4 and 5

FuzzyPuffling · 07/10/2020 13:32

Bung ho lovelies! I watched it last night but failed miserably to find this thread. All corrected now though.

I liked Owen and Michelle but didn't warm to the South African lady (see, I can't even remember her name) - she just seemed to want the title "wife". I was left wondering why her previous long term relationship hadn't included marriage, and if that was why she seemed so desperate.

WhatzTheCraic · 07/10/2020 14:55

@FuzzyPuffling The South African lady was called Shareen. I'm already worrying that she has too much riding on this 'marriage'. Because she's older, it almost feels like it's her last shot at and the whole shabam which makes me very nervous. I'm not sure the guy she's been matched with is going to live up to expectations somehow.

There's something about him that reminds me of Troy in MAFS 5 - not nearly such an irritating red-trouser boy, but there's an aura . . .

Now you come to mention it, I see what you mean. I think it's his teeth. And how he uses them.

Egghead68 · 07/10/2020 16:07

Sharene seems so closed off. I imagine she would reject/push away almost anyone.

The young couple seem sweet.

MadamBatty · 07/10/2020 18:39

I feel the same about Shareen, she seemed to feel that marriage would validate her in some way? She was a bit boo boo I’ve never been married I’m so sad. She’s got 3 lovely grown up daughters, looking at what she doesn’t have not what she does?

I might be too hard on her.

Egghead68 · 07/10/2020 21:37

I’m enjoying her South African-Welsh accent though. Never heard that combination before.

cerealkillah · 07/10/2020 21:42

@SchadenfreudePersonified @FuzzyPuffling He reminded me of Troy. It was definitely his mouth.

Frazzled2207 · 07/10/2020 22:03

Just caught up. Think the younger couple seem quite promising.
Not so sure about Shereen and David.

WhatTheFuckHappenedHere · 07/10/2020 23:49

I have watched all the episodes on All4 before I found this thread. I won’t give you any spoilers. So based only on the first episode, I thought Shareen was very closed off, and that David was too earnest and probably annoying her. Michelle and Owen seem sweet though.

MsStillwell · 08/10/2020 08:36

I tried the Aussie version, but it was ridiculous, so it's a relief to see that the UK one is still normal.

I couldn't warm to Michelle, I think it's the way she talked to her mum. Lots of nervous energy from the couple at the alter, it'll be good to see how that develops.

I've got a feeling that David is going to be too easy-going and accommodating for Shereen (who is more like me - hard work and overly-defended).

LadyEloise · 08/10/2020 09:13

@MsStillwell
I too started watching the Australian one but stopped as I thought it was a tad ridiculous too.
This new UK one seems more real.

Italiangreyhound · 08/10/2020 14:24

WhatzTheCraic and FuzzyPuffling

Shareen re ' too much riding on this 'marriage'. Because she's older, it almost feels like it's her last shot at and the whole shabam which makes me very nervous.'

I feel it is some sort of validation. I dedicated myself to my three girls and noe it's me time. But I don't think marriage is like that.

She is stunning and talented and I think you is expecting instant chemistry. Which does not always work.

David looks like the guy from Taskmaster. And for 50 something is very well presented.

He has kids, been married, has dogs, has a camper van. I think he seems nice.
