Has anyone watched this on Netflix?

Yes great watch for such a sad thing that happened.

Flackattack · 04/10/2020 06:49

I did and it made me feel horrible!!!

Felt there was information missing about why the switch flipped in his head as he seemed so cold. Proper monster!

It was hideous to think people said bad things about the wife after murders.

I’m not sure why I watched it as it was just horrible on every level!!!

KatherineJaneway · 04/10/2020 07:04

I found the trolling afterwards hard to fathom. Why would people say things like that.

The show peeled back the layers of their life but couldn't answer the fundamental question of why.

I watched it yesterday, it was so sad. And so strange, it was never really explained why he did it. If he wanted to have a new relationship then just get a divorce.

Bezzi · 04/10/2020 07:45

I watched it and because of the title I was expecting the next door neighbour to be the murderer (you know the guy who showed the police the CCTV.)
Pretty much all the way through I was waiting for the plot twist where they brought the next door neighbour in for questioning.
Such a sad story, those poor girls.

IKEA888 · 04/10/2020 07:47

yea and I wish I hadn't. just awful so so sad.
I actually believed him when he said she had killed the girls she came across at times as me tally unstable.
of course he then confessed.
poor poor kids

Itsallpointless · 04/10/2020 07:55

Yes I watched it too. How can someone so 'normal' turn like that? It was all so calculated. God knows what happened that morning.

KatherineJaneway · 04/10/2020 08:03

Interesting the neighbour caught onto his behaviour right away.

I think the most disgusting part was blaming his wife

redvest · 04/10/2020 10:49

The bastard only confessed to avoid the death penalty.

Totally unfathomable when divorce is easy and no stigma. I wonder if it was the pregnancy that made him opt for murder? Can't explain that away to the gf.

KatherineJaneway · 04/10/2020 12:14

I can't understand why he simply did not get / ask for a divorce.

I watched it, and also watched an interview with his mother. She was AWFUL. She really hated Shanann.

I cannot imagine the horror that his daughters went through, poor girls. And the life of his unborn son that he took away. What a cruel, cruel man. And to then try to frame his wife.

Lolaloveslemonade · 04/10/2020 15:02

Not seen this. Will definitely watch

HarrietOh · 04/10/2020 15:04

I already knew this case so knew the outcome, broke my heart when it showed the clip of one of the girls in the car singing about how her daddy was her hero.

Nikki360 · 04/10/2020 15:04

I watched it recently same as most people can't understand why he didn't just divorce her. I did notice when he went to meet them at the airport after not seeing his daughters for five weeks he didn't look that happy to see them. Just a horrendous sad story

Lolaloveslemonade · 04/10/2020 15:08

Ahh yes... I’ve seen a documentary about this case (not the Netflix one).
Awful in every way.

nancypineapple · 04/10/2020 15:21

Watched it on Friday! Really interesting to see how everything you put online is traceable-I don't post a lot on facebook but have friends that post everytime their kid does a poo etc. I found it really disturbing to see all the videos of the little girls and their regular family life. It was obvious the husband was having some type of affair by the amount of time he spent at the gym and working out and the emotional distance he was putting between himself and his family. I feel so sorry for those poor baby girls -murdered by their own father whom they loved and trusted implicitly.

Sewsosew · 04/10/2020 15:28

Hideous. It’s like he just wanted them to disappear. How did he think he was going to explain to the new girlfriend about them when it was all over the news.
I’m sure if they had divorced she would have moved back home anyway.

IDontMindMarmite · 04/10/2020 15:34

I watched it last night. It was a strange programme, for all of the texts and 'content', it was also kind of empty. I feel just as clueless about what the hell happened that led to this as I was at the start.

sodapoppinkypie · 04/10/2020 18:44

Were the texts and stuff that popped up on the screen real exchanges between them ? Her facebook posts gushed about him but in the texts they didn't really seem to like each other .
My heart hurts for all of them though and I don't understand how you can do that to someone your supposed to love let alone your own children .

Cocolapew · 04/10/2020 18:46

There's another thread about this and there's a bit more detail about what happened, there's podcasts that give a more detailed explanation.
I like the way it was filmed but it could have done with more details

KANNET · 04/10/2020 19:44

Can you link to the other thread

KatherineJaneway · 05/10/2020 07:41

Oh I did a search for another thread on this but no results came up

On reflection, she seemed to be the 'prize' when he married her. He was excited to have 'won' such a lovely woman. Then he got all buffed up and wanted to be the prize himself.

He didn't look happy when she announced her third pregnancy despite the video.
